Great looking build, she climbs/performs amazing! I firmly believe in running all my bodies! Shelf Queen, hell no, get it out there and run it (I mean, who sees it on the shelf?)! I paid about $150 USD for my custom painted crawler body. After trimming about 40% of it away(!), I mounted her up and went out crawling. I get a bunch of compliments on the trail and people are stoked to see it run! 👍

I took my freshly painted Proline 66 Chevy body & sweet paint to By The Fire & it took a beating. But that was nothing just a days ago it rolled down a steep rather tall ledge & absolutely got Beat! Knocked the paint right off a few small areas & seem to be tilting to the right. I have NO shelf queens I run all my RC’s. I didn’t pay good money to let them sit my problem is not having enough time to get all my RC’s out. And don’t have enough yard to build any kind of crawler course. But I have my spots & get out but like everyone I could spend hours of undisturbed time but life simply doesn’t work that way for most of us. Good to see ya out on the Rocks.

I don't use knuckle weights right now and you may not need to. I'm running a Gatekeeper and everyone says it is way to heavy to do near vertical climbs. Well I've proven a few people wrong just by running the stock shocks with full sag (stock springs), adding steel wheels, and using 12mm hex extensions on stock tires. It's crawling stuff I definitely didn't think it would be able to crawl. I am going to add the Samix diff covers though. I might also order a GroundFox motor mount and lower the CG a bit with it. Oh and add a HH crawlmaster sport. I don't need anything crazy in it. As long as the 1080 on 3s can hold the brake on steep stuff I'll be happy.

I like the SSD brass knuckles on my element trucks. The tolerance has run close. So I end up using the old boiling Knuckles And freezing the bearings for install. I also like the finish on the SSD they don't scratch very easily.

Love the video. Knuckles to stay away from SSD. The look of them is impressive the problem is the mounting holes open up making the front end sloppy.

If it was southern cali then more than likely sandstone. I also crawl a place called teneja falls which has mixed rock and polished rock.

Great content! Thanks! Also, to your comment at the end about adding weight, it would be great to have some info about weight placement, whether putting weights in the wheels or not, in the axles only, or even putting weight on some parts of the chasis as some reccommend and others don't...

I don't need to add weight anywhere as it's a beast as it is factory (18-19 lbs) and works really well on the trails and crawls pretty well. Now I just need a motor recommendation from the master,lol. I'm definitely thinking about a copperhead esc.

If the bodyshell looks good and does not get bound up on the tryes it's all good. Not a fan of 'standard bodies' I only have one 1/24 scale crawler rig that has it's original standard body, only because I have not found an alternative hard body that I really like yet, will probably end up scratch building my own series 1 Land Rover body for it some day. All my other RC vehicles run with a selection of 2mm ABS plastic bodies. 1/8 scale MK1 Ford Escort rally shell on a 50MPH modified offroad race buggy, DAF race truch shell on a 1/12 scale 60MPH road racer. 1/12 scale Long Wheelbase MK2 Ford Transit van body on an olschool custom built braced GRP / fiberglass sandwich chassis just for trail driving fun. I personally do not like most buggy bodies and only use one severely chopped down lexan shell on my LCG crawler to keep the weight down. It is quite fun to slap my classic Morris 1000 stock car body on the race truck or LCG crawler just to be different sometimes. If You are havin fun it's all good.

I've only been crawling for around 3 yrs but only 3 months each year. I saved money until I could afford some good tires. I purchased a set of snail slime hustler tires (boom racing) they looked amazing they sounded amazing. When I got them in hand they seemed very sticky. They are completely crap for crawling in my area I was extremely disappointed. I wouldn't ever suggest anyone get those tires ever! They might work good in mud but mudding is not for me not on purpose anyways.

In the c1 class i see people thrashing 250$ bodies with weeks worth of painting and 3d printing so ya thrash the lexan and enjoi!

When it comes to adding weight I prefer to add it anywhere but on the wheels to minimize extra stress on the drive train. My TRX4 has brass portal covers which put most of the added weight below the front axles which is as low as you can get without compromising clearance. I add as little weight as possible to get the weight bias where the rig works okay then play with tires and foams making them work as well as possible with that minimum weight of the rig.

I see you don’t have sliders on this rig are you going to install some? Just wondering my Element chassis with Proline 66 Chevy body is wide so I’m having to make custom mounts to sit on the body correctly. They have to come way out do to the wide body.

What beadlocks are those? Look killer. I need some info. I’m kinda new to this hobby. What’s wrong with using the Betty body? It doesn’t look all that, imo.

Spending a lot of money on something just to set it on the shelf is dumb in my opinion, run that thing as intended!

I'm the give it hell kind of guy. If I paid for it I'm going to enjoy it. That's would be like saving your gf/wife for the next guy "just in case." Ain't happening here!

be sure to gear it right. and not put any weight on it...and use the proper battery....or else it'll catch fire, and you wont cover the damage. Zero modification is recommended for holmes motors.
