@shawnr771 2 года назад
No American owned aircraft were left behind that were operational. A US General said that. The 39 billion dollars in equipment that was in Afghanistan belonged to the Afghan government. We sold it to them over 20 years to bolster their security forces. The US government gave them 4 billion a year in aid with the condition they would purchase US equipment, training and other US goods and services. So that taxpayer money could flow right into the coffers of the likes of Boeing and Raytheon. Also back into them politicians pockets and the American workers who built that stuff. Yes it was US made equipment but it was not ours to take. The best plane they got was an A29 AirCobra. Basically a late 20th century P51. A bunch of used BlackHawks. You think we sold them new ones? The only reason any of us have to fear any of that equipment is if we plan on going back. Even then US would blow every aircraft out of the sky or on the ground on the first day. The first thing we do is establish air superiority. That way we can fly drones with impunity. The biggest thing would be the small arms and ammunition. And the Taliban had plenty of that anyways. Just think how long them M4s are going to last in the dust and dirt when they do not clean them religiously. They are used to AKs. The worry you imply is just a scare tactic of the media.

@@glenns3122 I was referring to multiple wars as in we left stuff behind in Vietnam/golf wars WW or other wars we've also been in... Also we've been pulling troops out for awhile now.... This is pretty much just the final pull out we have left things behind before or sorry it wasn't pulling out troops it was cutting down the force we had there the movie war Dogs where ppl got rich of selling the weapons shit or if you want to be technical it's even worse we sell our shit to them lol Obama was pulling troops out in 2016 tf??? And it was Trump that started pushing to get the rest of ppl out it just so happened to fall on Biden to withdraw em cause trumps time was up in office (granted I don't think Biden did it right) then again I'm not in his spot so idk what would of been the best way to go about it

My boss worked on these, (heavy aircraft maintenance in Kabul for NATO) right before the taliban took over. Said they were pretty easy to work on but the US didn’t listen to the maintenance advice of the Russians and ended up over servicing/ over maintaining them, ended up breaking critical parts faster etc…

These helicopters were purchased from Ukraine. US pilots went to Ukraine to train how to fly these helicopters and were trained by Ukrainian pilots. My friend married his Ukrainian translator…..😁

I never really understood why we haven't developed a kind of chopper that can serve as both infantry transport and close air support. I love the Blackhawk, Sea Knight, Super Stallion, and Chinook, but it takes way more resources because they almost always gotta have Apache gunship support to provide security for them.
