True, but best before dates usually don't have a day written on them unless they're freshly made. Fresh goods, or goods with really short shelf lives like bread typically have for example "Best before 25 Jan", whereas goods with longer shelf lives (biscuits, tinned goods, pickles, preserves, etc.) typically have month/year written on them in either "09/24" format or "Sep 2024" format.

@@smockboy not true lots of long shelf life foods in the UK have exact dates on them with the day included. Not a lot of things have just the month from my experience

@@_.eleesha._ Newsflash, the British Army wrote the date as Month/Day /year, when they were colonizing the original 13 colonies, it was changed later in the UK and it was keep the original way in the US.

Most ‘Best before’ dates in the UK are useless. We have Best Before on salt, sugar, bicarbonate of soda etc.

We used to have Marks & Spencer’s in Canada, but we don’t anymore 😢😢.

I'm not sure 'great value food' is exactly what I'd say. You get fleeced just because it has 'M&S' on it.

M&S started in Leeds kirkgate market. Everything cost a penny. The original stall is still in the market today

I don't really feel it's fair to say that you 'get fleeced' at M&S. You do pay more but know that you get a guaranteed quality level. Yes, there are lot's of cheaper places, but often the quality isn't as good. Also their cooking instructions on their prepared joints are at idiot level, which is perfect for my culinary skills, and it always amazes me that I can cook a perfect beef joint, for example, with no real skill needed. It's a case of convenience. With the time, know how, and a slow cooker, you can turn really cheap joints into delicious food, but sadly I have none of these. My Mother would always buy the Christmas food from Marks and Spencer and you knew it would be what you expected. No one forces people to shop at M&S, and I will also buy some things at other places where I trust the quality and I generally feel a peace of mind with M&S that I won't be let down. I've also known other places launch new lines, for example, which are initially nice, but then they seem to cut back on the quality and hope that people don't notice or don't mind. If you don't like M&S prices then just shop elsewhere.

I found out in September that I have type 2. Diabetes, I had my 3 month blood test last week and with the medication and some small diet changes along with cutting out fizzy drinks I’m back to pre-diabetic levels! You can still have the good stuff, just in moderation, I have a massive sweet tooth and I still have my chocolate and treats, just not as much, on the upside, I’ve lost nearly 2 stone in weight! Good luck and don’t totally deprive yourself, it’ll just make you miserable.xx

@@joannesmart6021 congratulations, I also am almost back to pre Diabetes levels. I had to ditch a lot of my daily “treats”. I was actually having a heart attack when I was informed I was Diabetic. My daughter who was at the hospital with me rolled her eyes and said “ figures, just another one of mothers twofers “ have you ever tried laughing while having a heart attack? Not recommended! 🤣🤣

@@marysmith1922 that sounds like my mum! She went to the doctor with a sore leg and ended up being diagnosed with lung cancer! (She survived, she’s all good!)

Yup, so usually small individual chocolates in a tin or box, but recently Quality Street came out with the bars that you got - same flavours as the individual chocolates, just in a bar form.

It’s the other way around, actually. The full size bars came first, then the fun size, then the minis.

But surely it would be sent to their actual address and not their “RU-vid” PO BOX address.

I live in Glasgow and this is a weird way to hear about this.
