Despite Punk said that brand split doesn't work, Collision with CM Punk was good because it felt like a separate show with talents that didn't get any screen time on Dynamite and Rampage. After CM Punk left, they ruined it as if it's like an extended Rampage. It even didn't take long after that for the stupid Elite to even show up on it.
Collision felt like a whole different company, like a breath of fresh air. Nowadays it's so bland and boring, the vibe is gone and it's basically rampage 2.0.
I’ve always been a Cody Rhodes guy . He’s the one that brought me to the table. He’s the one that introduced me to everything else outside of Wwe so I will never turn my back on him no matter what.
@@chentz2d552lol he will the first to tell you if the product is crap this is why WWE fans is way more objective than AEW fans because WWE fans is so used to having a crap product that they will first one to tell you that its crap lol
That's funny cause I felt the same about WWE, AEW always been easier for me to catch on Wednesdays. I can bearly catch WWE on mondays or fridays. Also Ring of Honor should've stayed a separate promotion
I added this to my watch radar. While I have been down on the product of AEW, I haven't stopped. But I'm still interested in hearing people's well-reasoned opinions that counter my own. So while I'm waiting for a killer feature to come back to the product, I'm all for the discourse. Friendly, right?🙂
Lol I wish they'd get "everyone on TV" no, it's just orange Cassidy and chums constantly. Where's Miro? Where's all the cool guys? They ain't doing shit and certainly aren't on TV.
Right, because you need a little backstage skit where Penta steps on Buddy Matthews' shoe and says " you're gonna pay for that tonight... In the ring" like they came to television without a full card booked. That's how you do it, right?
Hear me out: AEW is like the community creation in 2K. You can download the wrestlers you don't have to add to your roster-- downloading a few is good-- but you maximized and used all the free slots. Now, you play MyUniverse and you want to play all the characters you have in the roster in the cards. One show can hold 9 cards (matches). So, you end up having matches with a lot of random tag teams, 4-way matches, 6, and 8 man battle royale. You can't keep this up every single show and make the build up special on the ppv month event. So, you end up not playing everyone and also decide which ones are meant as main eventers. That's what AEW was and now.
I fell off of AEW around Brawl Out. During the summer that year I noticed that i was reacting more negative to Dynamite. Then the incident happened and i decided to take a break. The week i came back was when the Elite decided to reenact everything in a match, so that turned me off even more.
For me, Belt Collector Kenny was my "cant miss" era. But yeah, as someone who has been here since day 1, i get people being turned off by AEW. That backstage stuff bled out into the product, and it's just kinda dirty. WWE has improved significantly, and i can't fault people not wanting to watch 14 hours of semi-nude combat every week, plus 2 different events for 4-6 hours on the weekend. I miss that excitement I used to have during year one. I'M hoping that Forbidden Door will reinvigorate that for me next month. The Long Island crowd is always a blast.
My wife and I watched AEW together, even went to Full Gear 2021. But as 2022 went on we became less interested, and WWE started to improve. Our daughter was around 9 at that time and started paying more attention to the shows and obviously gravitated towards WWE. We all prefer to watch and talk WWE and she knows AEW is a thing but doesn't care about it. The best example is she saw Jade matches in AEW but didn't actually get hyped until she went to WWE and teamed up with her hero Bianca. I stopped watching news videos and tried to be less involved in that IWC sphere. I get more enjoyment watching her dance to Jey Usos intros and Bianca matches than reading who might join Bloodline when I can just watch it unfold. But Kenny Omega as the heel AEW champion alongside Young Bucks was great stuff. Gave me vibes of when I found them in Bullet Club back in 2016. It felt like the best translation of what made them popular in Japan but on national US TV. Shame they can't get back to that late 2021 peak
@@chentz2d552 everyone is watching and praising wwe because it's on fire right now nobody is in those dimly lit aew arenas because it's trash it's really as simple as that. Just because you're rooting for aew doesn't make it less sh*tty
I had barely watched any wrestling outside of WWE so AEW was my first experience with a lot of the wrestlers. I had heard of people like Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks but, I had never seen any of there matches. It was very overwhelming at first and it took me a while to get to know the wrestlers I was hooked instantly as I had never seen anything like it.
I came back to watching wrestling because of AEW so I had no idea about New Japan/Lucha Underground/ROH etc. The experience of watching early AEW was magical. That's when I started to catch up and became a wrestling nerd. Good times!
Same for me. Now I've skipped certain episodes of Dynamite. I went to Dynamite live at Daileys place during the pandemic when Cody had Black hair one time. I was at Revolution 2022. Now....the last ppv I attended live was Royal Rumble this year.
I've watched every Dynamite episode since I first started watching it and watched 3 live events until Punk got fired. I completely stopped watching AEW after.
When Aew started, i didn’t see the press conference, and my first experience for AEW was the first dynamite. And i was 12. i heard about New japan, but didn’t know alot about it, but i was familiar with TNA and Lucha underground, so watching and seeing all these guys that i knew and some of my favorites of all time i was invested. Now is a different story
21:24 I'm a wrestling fan from South Africa and to us, WWE was the only wrestling we ever watched and we never really watched any other promotion as it was not available at the time. My first exposure to a different wrestling company was back in 2016 when I watched TNA (I was 12 at the time so I didn't know it was in a bad position management-wise😅) and it felt different and exciting. Fast forward to 2021 and TNT Africa began airing Dynamite and it was cool to see former WWE guys like Mox, Jericho, Miro and new stars like Darby, Ricky, Orange Cassidy and others. Around that time, I nearly stopped watching WWE altogether because of how hot AEW was in 2021 and how bad the creative was in WWE. Sometimes I wish there was more wrestling to watch here in SA rather than WWE being the be all end all of professional wrestling
“Just enjoy wrestling” has gotta be the laziest thing I hear when someone makes an excuse for people not tuning into AEW. So we are suppose to excuse a bad product just so we can keep an alternative? Nah nah. AEW doesn’t even look to get the kind of money WWE got for that Netflix deal. They may get a little increase for the possible new deal but not what Tony thinks it’ll get. WBD ain’t gonna give them the money they would’ve given the NBA had they extended their deal (most likely NBA is going back to NBC)
I remember specifically around 2017 my cousin had asked if I had heard of Kenny Omega before. Having only watched WWE since 2011 at the time, I was curious. He showed me his match vs Naito in the G1 finals in 2017, & I thought I had just witnessed the best match I had ever seen. That feeling of finding more wrestling outside of WWE was mind blowing, & AEW starting gave me a surge of energy & excitement on pro-wrestling that I felt was dropping around 2019.
@@chentz2d552 woman wrestling came up because talented women were given an opportunity that they deserved. Aew is woke with sonny kiss Nyla eww and Cody solving racism
Ive just watched its not as tough of an adjustment from short form to longer form. For reaction content, I'd recommend letting the og video build first, to add context and their perspective, then interject with yours. This is because the sudden pauses were somewhat distracting, which after sometimes after a single second passes. A good approach was seen with your '"100 wrong things in AEW" Reaction'. In terms of the content, I'm glad you highlighted a video & creator I haven't checked. I agreed nearly unanimously with both people's points; product stretching thin, ROH redundancy, talent bloating, etc. Ive been quite similarly down/burnt out on the whole industry after WWE Backlash & AEW Dynasty (but from taking in the IWC negativity for a while), so I'm slowly tryna getting more positive & critical content now.
AEW has got better the last half year, but for me 3 things took me out of it: 1. ROH, especially before it got its own show. I hated seeing ROH titles and talent being shoved into Dynamite. That hasnt stopped and my eyes glaze over when i see an ROH title. 2. CM Punk drama. I was so happy when CM Punk came to AEW, but i wish it never happened. He keeps taking the wind out of their sails even after he left. I got really frustrated whenever tk makes refference to the brawls. Enough is enough. 3. Tk's booking. This has got better over the last year but there are still some tkisms like not having Mercedes wrestle for months after signing her. For the most part this pisses me off less than it used to. Other than that, seriously gave HHH's WWE a shot. I like what i see, but its still not what AEW brought me back to wrestling with. Im just glad wrestling in general is doing well and i hope AEW can regain its momentum and put aside Punk and keep ROH to Honor club
What is killing this business is that all other Pro Wrestling promotions are sub standard, and we only have one promotion to review and rave about, and no matter how good it currently is in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), every podcast giving reviews on the same product kills the industry as a whole. It's having McDonald's as the only restaurant in a city. Pretty soon it will be stale going there, and people will make their own food (aka watch Pro Wrestling indy promotions).
40:46 This is where I'll give WWE the leg up in this one, because NXT is still entirely optional. You don't need it to understand the Bloodline, or Gable vs Sami, or to know who Bron, Ilja, and Melo are. It's just additional wrestling with its own rabbit hole of stories to go down. In AEW, it feels like I have to watch all 3 shows to keep up but then there's just a bunch of random matches and no substantial story that I can't get a summary of from social media somewhere.
Tony Khan is the reason why i dont watch AEW anymore, he doesnt know how to book things, he even fired his biggest star just for the sake of the young bucks and jobber jack perry.. i mean what... And Dave Meltzer giving free 5 stars to some of their matches that will soon be forgotten about and reports misinformation about the cm punk brawl.. AEW needs a new booker but Tony's ego cant do it cause he wanted those sweet sweet booker of the year by the wrestling observer that is irrelevant. We didnt say we wanted AEW to die, because they did it to themselves, and all of it was Tony wanted to be friends with everyone and doesnt want to be a boss, book random matches with no substance, and have inmates running the asylum with all the backstage fights they have in the later years...
2019-2022 AEW was can’t miss. I took road trips to go to shows in Chicago, went to Full Gear 2021, spent money on shirts and merch and was the biggest fan of the product. But the last 2 years, the product, and Tony Kahn, has really just soured on me. I still keep up to date with what’s going on. But with Dynamite lacking-rampage and collision being glorified episodes of WCW Thunder….i just do not care if I miss any weekly shows from AEW

I watch Rampage weekly. I would get home late sometime and I will tune in. In fact, I been enjoying the Collision and Rampage 3 hour block more than RAW due to having a falling out with RAW in the past. It helps too if your Sports teams are in the postseason (Knicks and Rangers).
How's Rampage been? It's always been hard for me to get into because 1. The lead in from Smackdown Fatigue. 2. They never run important matches or blow off feuds on the show. So it never is worth watching. But what's the perception from a fan?😊
@@Sooplex It been on and off lately. I would get into the matches that involves from other promotions like CMLL and the Indys. For example, I enjoy the Rocky Romaro and Místico match. As a kid, I would did not understand Spanish that well yet, but those CMLL matches was fast pace and close, and Rampage have rekindle those memories. I like Rampage but if I want to attract the casual audience, I would add matches that relates to the fued, but keep the fast pace and/or intensity sprinkle some promos especially outside, and show some love to what going on the Indies in hope making professional wrestling grows.
In a perfect world Dynamite aired on Tuesdays, Collison aired on Thursday, with RAW airing Mondays, NXT airing Wednesdays and SmackDown airing Fridays and TK hired a real booker
You mean tribalistic PG WWE marks that have been brainwashed by Vince McMahon to love only the product he created, PG WWE marks are not fans of pro wrestling lol
As an Xfinity technician just want to clarify that Xfinity and Comcast are the same thing. Comcast is the parent company and Xfinity is branded as the residential services. On demand is still around as well
Swerve's Reign feels like it means nothing. He's presentation didnt change and he feels the same, with a belt. The belt did nothing for him, and he did the belt nothing. There was more buzz about Mox winning the IWGP than Swerve and i feel like its because everyone knows "bruv" is gonna win it at wembley.
He hasn't had one main event match and has almost wrestled every week since. Will Osprey just captured a title now the next PPV we get Swerve and Osprey SMH poor Swerve he even got $ Mayweather and he get booked with Osprey. You can't tell me he's not going to win look what the CEO did to Willow and she was at her best. Criminal 😢
I would say my interest for AEW starting falling when orange Cassidy became the undertaker and never lost a match, when he was the first international champion, around the time cm punk left. It started exposing the young bucks for being lame. And with Cassidy, it’s like if we can’t beat the guy that’s not even trying then who are we?
Feel like a huge part of it is that when AEW started WWE wasn't doing that good. Heck it was to where NXT aka in a way their developmental was the best brand in WWE then once Triple H took control of creative creative WWE WWE in general slowly improved. That and Brawl Out showed a huge downside with TK as the sole boss
AEW were actually great back in 2019 because they focused on long term storylines. Such as rise of hangman and his 2 year journey to be world champion. Feud between britt baker and thunder rosa, rise of MJF and Wardlow, Punk/MJF. Inner circle were awesome. Nowadays, they just don't care about long term stories anymore.
I was PROTO-AEW, just like you. I got religiously into ROH & NJPW circa 2013 when AJ Styles left TNA. I keppt watching those products all the way through until the birth of AEW. I have tbh, this trajectory AEW is going rn is not what I expected back in 2019.
It got bad because they kept signing former wrestlers from different promotions instead of focusing on their own talent. Plus you get those huge signings to do nothing with them later on The Exceptions are edge Moné danielson & Mox Signings such as Claudio, black, PAC, Keith Lee & Adam Cole could benefit a lot more but they are not utilized. Plus the summer of 2022 into 2023 was the Mandela effect into AEW being lackluster I love AEW and I’m going to keep watching AEW Dynamite Weekly but they need a spark soon or it’s all over This Is My Opinion Tho
"Claudio, black, PAC, Keith Lee & Adam Cole" tell me you don´t watch AEW without telling me you don´t watch it. Keith Lee & Adam Cole are hurt (Adam cole is still in one of the bigger feuds in AEW with MJF) , Pac is a part timer since the start of the company , Claudio was already 2 times world champion and is with the BCC and Black is still one of the most dangerous people they have in the roster (hell the whole house of black is a monster stable) but right "they are not utilized"
@@luxTenebris1 Claudio is 2x ROH champion (never won a title in AEW) Keith Lee Has been injured idk how long then came back was supposed to be in a small feud with Swerve then got injured again(I love Keith too but come on). PAC At least they are doing something now but putting him back in the trios title hunt is not the move for a threat like him IMO. Black should’ve been champion after his first year with AEW YES he won the trios titles but black as TNT or International hell even continental champion would be great. The world title would look good with him along with HOB being a monster faction imo. At least they gave us a Dream match between Black & Edge. Lastly Adam Cole Caused that injury to himself then the feud between him & MJF was put on hold for 4 months and the Undisputed kingdom was supposed to be running roughshod over the roster. MJF just returned so we’ll see what happens next week when he returns to dynamite.
@@IceyGeeMedia only thing i read here is "I don´t like it" not an "they are underutilized" that´s a big difference. Claudio started in ROH and is best known for his time in ROH (with Hero) which means that beeing ROH WORLD CHAMPION is more important than beeing AEW champion and everything else i read is "They need to be Champion" fuck nobody needs to be champion to be in a great spot. Yeah the bling bling (title ) looks good but in the end it´s useless, becouse the real thing is how great the story you tell (in ring or outside of it) is and in that case all of them are used extremly good (okay maybe except Keith, but that guy is 90% of his run injured and the other 10% was an extremly cool tag with Swerve)
8:48 TNA is the reason i started watching other companies. I was at my cousins crib and flipping thru their channels and saw AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels, 2006.
The reason why i havent been watching AEW is because one half the wrestlers i watch AEW for are neither not there or are they still boring ass faction/fued for example i use to love blackpoolcombat club but now am just like "end this shit bruh"i wanna see jon moxley go solo again.Same with Malakai group, an tired of it, i wanna see Buddy Matthews and Malakai fued already. The storylines aren't as fun or entertaining as it use to be most of the fudes now just feel random as hell.
The problem is lack of true over babyfaces. AEW is just notorious for killing babyfaces. The night Adam Page won the title, they instantly overshadowed it by debuting Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson. MJF gets the turn, and they overshadowed him by returning Punk. Swerve gets the title, and they instantly overshadowed it with the Assault on Tony Khan. We need a hero that we can get behind and stick with. We need someone with some balls to stand up for the company and what's right. Edge is about to retire again soon, we need heroes. Give me that, and I'm back to watching.
The first wave of AEW fans only latched on because WWE was in the shitter and was only waiting for WWE to get hot again and then left once it did. All the other shit they say is basically strawman arguments, bad faith takes, and burn out. I'm not speaking on tribalism because this ain't the video for that. As for Sooplex, he's consistent. He stopped watching Nooj because he didn't like it anymore and I rarely hear him talk about Stardom. So he stands on biz.
My interest in AEW waned when I realized they weren't going to do the elite vs punk angle. However my interest was first decreased after the Brawl , and they decided to skirt around issue instead of adressing it.
I think it's a combination of Punk and Sting leaving with Bucks coming back and the three big signings (Ossprey, Okada, Mone) Have really done nothing.
It's a niche product for a niche audience. The fans who watch wrestling for banger matches are in the minority. If Tony just realised that he and aew fans will be a lot happier.
AEW popped off as hard as it did because Vince was running WWE and we needed an alternative. The minute Vince was kicked to the curb(briefly) back in 2022 and HHH had control, was when AEW lost its steam. Come the Punk stuff incidents throughout 2022 and 2023: AEW, Tony Khan and the Bucks were exposed for their ineptitude and have never recovered since.
I'm not one of the people who hate TK, I'm really not. I don't dislike his booking style, he has his faults but so does everyone. He has booked some really great stuff. BUT, he needs to pass the pen over to someone else, at least partially. If they do a brand split (which they TOTALLY should) he can book one show, someone else can book another, someone else can book ROH. It's not because I hate him, he's just overstretched. That's probably a big part of why it's become stale. Even Vince worked with writers, Tony doesn't.
I try to watch AEW, and I just can't get into it. The only wrestlers that captured my attention were MJF and Kenny Omega. But once they were off tv, I could no longer watch. Now when I have it on, it's mainly background noise.
Me personally as a wwe fan from small so 2011 I was about 5 or smn I only watch aew for wwe stars and I only like MJF so that’s all I got to say about it you know I don’t really know anyone in the aew roster I known britt baker but that’s about it
Anothe reason why Aew create matches that gives 5 star but if you look back at them many years from now you will only remember their matches was 5 star while in WWE you will never forget the story you are watching. WWE storylines is like watching a great movie while AEW is watching a great wrestling but I often myself rewatching those great movies and the wrestling action was just the icing. (The closest thing AEW ever did the WWE path was Punk vs MJF feud and Hangman vs Omega build up)
I feel that AEW is at their best when they stick to what made them great in the first place, FRESH FACES IN THE SPOTLIGHT. Character storylines get lost in the shuffle of a dozen different stables, no long-term term dedication to storylines, and an overreliance on established talent.
I stopped watching when everything Tony said to get me there, wasn’t there. Wins & losses matter, real sports feel, pro production, and deep background history to outline who the wrestlers are.
I feel like AEW should stop Rampage and make Collision the ROH show (I.e. ROH Collision) and move it to Thursdays and not making us pay for it. It would really make ROH and AEW more watchable for me personally.
I've been a fan for over 30 years when they launched, so I knew about the indies. The problem for me was that I didn't like most of it. I was always in it for the story first. And as a Black fan diversity was even more important. So at that point while WWE was basically crap, they also had a bunch of Champs from different cultures and that spoke to me. At the same time, I wanted to see AEW start clean and not have those problems. So when I didn't see it I was disappointed, but I gave them room to grow because the bigger Black wrestlers were all in WWE so I understood. But even when some were on the market they just threw them in tag teams on some WWE BS. And I started tapping out. Then WWE got good again and I gave up.
Fuck aew. Im kidding ... or am i. Truthfully aew hopefully is always around i dont ever want it to go out of business or something, but it just doesn't interest me as a product, ill watch if they do something really cool or i hear of an insane match but besides that you aint ever gonna catch me watching aew shows
Nice video but however I have this critique: take notes on what you wanna say about the video. The constant play and pause over and over was annoying. I was like “Dude save that thought for a few minutes or until the end of the video.” I stopped watching a couple reactors cause they would turn a 5 minute video into 30 minutes. I know I can watch the original video but dude you kept pausing the video. One quick word in as the video plays is fine. But pausing & playing it like 10 in 5 minute spans? Bruh
For me i think it was less conditioning to want an overarching story and more so i got burnt out on wrestling with little to no story. Aew sometimes felt like wrestling for wrestling's sake rather than wrestling as its been for years with these personalities that make you want to watch and confrontations that you want the ending to. I think my ultimate stop for aew was the devil tbh cause it felt so obvious but not really and adter cole got hurt it just felt like it really didn't matter
The biggest problem with AEW is inconsistency. I mean that in their stars. I say in their here, next thing you know their gone. Whether it be to injury or visa issues. It makes it hard to keep momentum that way. Everyone is critical of WWEs style of wreslting but the majority of their stars are available more consistently than AEW. They wrestle safe, and that, helps business.
I feel like major things that have turned me off a little are: 1 - The production issues especially in major spots like the Kingston/Mox exploxion 2 - The roster size conpared to how much tv time they have available... Every time a Ricky Starks or a Pac or a Miro get hot they disappear for months! 3 - The honeymoon period being over .. Once guys started jumping ship the other way like Cody and later Punk Jade and Andrade it felt like that was around the period eceryone felt the need to shit on any mistake made by AEW 4 The Story telling has fallen off... That Hangman redemption angle was one of the best in wrestling history... They have a nack for doing a decent chace but SUCK at booking a face top champ!
They need to use ROH as a dark ROH dark. use ROH as the NXT developmental show. Turn Rampage as a all women's show. bring AEW Collision to 2 hours and move it to either sunday, tuesday, thursday night.
My decline started when they turned MJF babyface. The stuff with Adam Cole was fun for a little bit, but then i realized they just turned the most pompous asshole heel into a babyface during his world title run? That didn’t make any sense to me. And i think they really dropped the ball not doing an MJF/Eddie Kingston feud during that reign. The promos between them would've been amazing
I was weening off of it over time, starting from the Dark Order 2019 end. It really began to escalate with Stadium Stampede and Dinner Debonair, which made me turn on Jericho. The point of no return was Brawl Out. Tony Khan overplayed his hand and the IWC, plus the talent has done no favors.
Haven't watched but one issue for them and crowds is ticket prices. Their first big time coming to VA they had a show and a normal ticket for a eh spot was like $70 to $80. Which was insane to me.
The fact aew can be #2 in the world and still isn’t considered good for what it is makes me believe most people never wanted a different presentation of wrestling
Getting into AEW in the beginning was really hype. A wrestling focused promotion with emphasis on storyline. Seeing Kenny omega start off his AEW career sucking ass made his eventual main event run so thrilling. But overtime they threw away good storylines for indie spotfest nonsense. Now there are “dream matches” but no heat or storyline to them.
Easy reason, Chris Jericho and I'm NOT joking. I fucking hate all of his gimmicks and knowing a good quarter of the show is dedicated to fed tier sports entertainment bullshit with the payoff being a carry job from his opponent is not why I watch AEW. At the very least Ospreay becoming a mainstay and being pushed as the new ace is worth it
A single story line or character has never ruined a promotion for me to the point that i consider it "bad" even with WWE right now I can probably point to at least 2-3 ongoing story lines that aren't the best, but that doesn't make it a bad product. I think it runs much more than just blaming 1 thing like Jericho.
@@nightwaddie5426 Idk, sometimes a single segment can be so cold that it turns me off from the show because of how much of a slog it was. But I agree, like there's still things about the show week to week that are very good but my biggest complaints come from just how much screen time Jericho and other stories I struggle to get invested in like (sadly) the story with Orange and the best friends or personally just having some people I really want to see not get used like Takeshita or Keith Lee (I know I should give up on him tbh).
