Why YG Really Rejected Wendy

For me, SM visuals are awesome. They more into Korean look, simple, pure and cute. While YG they prefer exotic look like fierce, swag, and hip hop but still pretty. SM vocals are amazing. I'm not saying YG vocals are not good. They are amazing too but I'm more into SM vocals. For me, SM vocals have the warm feeling, like somebody hug you during winter or when you need a hug. That's what I feel when I listen to Kyuhyun, Taeyeon, Onew, Wendy and Taeil. Wendy's vocal suit SM more than YG. It was a fate that we can't denied. It's already written.

The only reason is because wendy meant to be red velvet members. Also I think for girlgroup, YG has criteria for body proportion, look at 4 members of BP, all of them have body line. But i am so glad wendy got rejected bcause in YG, it means wendy wont never get chance to debut. And i wont never know there is a gorgeous girl like wendy..

Wendy is the epitome of a perfect Sm idol. Beautiful Visuals with soft features and powerful vocals. Wendy is hands down the best female vocalist of this generation and she belongs in Red Velvet.

Fun fact: Wendy made it to Cube’s final round of auditions back then. Idk why they didn’t keep her though. Part of me feels like Cube already had in mind what kind of girl group concept they wanted for CLC and felt like Wendy didn’t fit it. From the looks of her audition, I would have thought she’d be a solo artist by now. Would have never suspected she’d be in a group like Red Velvet. In life, everything happens for a reason. I’m glad everything worked out for her in the end. YG on the other hand, had very inconsistent criteria for what he wants. He bases it on how he feels most of the time, as seen on Mixnine.

Im glad Wendy didn't get into YG, YG doesn't know how to train vocalist. I love Rose, she is my bias and that girl has some TALENT. But the way YG trained her to sing, it sounds to forces and uncomfortable, they ruined her beautiful voice, the same goes JYP. SM in the only big 3 company that trains their vocalist to adapt and improve their natural talent and not force them to sing in a different style and pitch. Wendy is one of the best vocalist Kpop has ever had, as a YG stan, you cant compare any new YG vocals to her.

YG saying he didn't care about looks is false. He is more lenient with facial proportions on male idols. He cares about the body type of the idols, and if they don't fit he criticizes them. For years, he called 2ne1 ugly. It's more of a thing with women than men, though I don't want to rule out him being rude to male idols as well because that's inaccurate.

I once heard from this Korean Oppa who host a series of podcast about the kpop industry... (he was a trainee then became a dance coach cause he wasn’t able to debut) He said that talents and looks are not a deciding factor whether a trainee get to debut or not. The management team usually look at whether the trainee fits into the “concept” they want to produce first, then pick the ones with the talents. He is like “it’s hard to be a trainee, just because you have talents, doesn’t mean you’ll get a chance to debut. There are hundreds of you out there that are the same as you if not stronger out there competing for that one spot...”

Wendy is very open about her dancing abilities. she is not a natural dancer, she learn dancing when she started her training.maybe that's the reason why YG rejected her. maybe YG is not good in developing real talents like SM does.

It's not about being good in singing, yg has his own voice color preference. He likes "high-broken-like" voice like GD, hanbin and rose, and for base to match with the unique high tone, usually a deep, raspy voice like TOP, Junhwe, Daesung, Park Bom and Jennie chosen to balance it out. Eversince Bigbang's success, YG has this kind of mindset to have the group composition made with the voice types just like what bigbang has. Because of this mindset, he and his team seeks for unique color and often rejects people who can sing with the reason that usual singing voice is boring, even if one can sing really good it's still boring for them since every company can have a good singer but not a stand out singer (in their opinion). For example, if Yuqi from G-Idle is the one who auditioned for YG, I'm sure they'll accept her because of her voice color that suits their type, which is deep and raspy. I'm not defending Yg for your opinion since i really don't like him (ew i think he's such an asshole) I'm explaining this to defend wendy that she is a great singer and I'm sure they didn't reject her because they thought that she can't sing (cause if they do that's too stupid to be true or they're deaf af) it's just that her voice is not specifically his and his team's type.

yg really hit the jackpot with bp because the rap line complements each other + the vocal line complements each other, and jennie is so versatile and can switch between rap and vocals. Each of the members really brings a flavour to the song that when it all comes together, it doesnt clash but it becomes this pot of flavourful broth but yet it packs like a fruit punch also

Uhmmm YG is not saying Wendy is not talented it’s just that YG Ent’s Vocalists have Stylistic Vocals. One that’s make the Main Vocalists Distinct from others. I’m a YG Stan for 12 years now. and I can say I kinda know YG’s taste. And I think Wendy is now the Main Vocalist in Red Velvet knowing that all of them have pretty Good Vocals it’s because listening to their songs I can almost always tell which part Wendy is singing because she has that style in her voice. And I bet that’s why YG was kinda regretted. Still Wendy is doing Good now as well as other artists that were rejected by YG so Kudos to them for not giving up for their dreams! 🙌

ive been a YG stan for idk how years, the thing about 'YG only cares about talent' died in my eyes after YG let chanwoo joined iKon, when the other 2 contestant were more talented, but he (chanwoo) was more outgoing and overall had a better image than the other 2. if you remember back in the day where potential pink punk had 9 members. there were a lot of talented members but at the end of the day they left/was kicked out, and now bp doesnt have strong main vocalist if only YG cares so much about talent, this wouldnt happen. seems like his definition of talent is a little different. and YG known for his preference to stage presence, but BP doesnt even have a strong stage presence (lisa overall carried them) unlike their seniors so idk whats wrong with their training and YG.
