I think the style worked for Dunkirk because there wasn't a lot of dialog. I think Dark Knight and Inception just actually had audible dialog. The examples from Tenet just seem mystifying to me, though. Just _don't have dialog_ for those scenes where the other sounds are supposed to dominate. Or do that thing that all kinds of films/TV do where they just have no dialog audio and crank up the score to create mood/tension. But that kind of "I can almost hear it" volume level in a scene that frames centrally two characters conversing, that's just a bad choice.
