OCD recovery is more complex than is often made out! I break down exactly why that is, and how to actually restore baseline peace once again.

A) Haircut = fire B) Such an important video! These principles were so important for me when I doubted every facet of my recovery.

Yeah, this guy thankfully articulated what I couldn't. But could those populations in studies labelled treatment resistant actually have other disorders (diagnosed/undiagnosed) such as eupd, which is skewing the effects of ocd treatment?

Hey Rainbow - Potentially but the principles of acceptance would still apply no matter what, that's a slippery slope to go down

So true. I've had periods where Ive thought I had it beat through exposures and the "maybe, maybe" not approach. Wrong. I cant get sustainable relief that way. Now I'm going after the core beliefs. Not easy, but I have hope.

Is it a good idea to aim for a LOSS OF AWARENESS to some extent
@OCDrecoveryNick

Hey Henry! Yes, accepting the loss of awareness (if that's what you mean) is key. Accepting the distraction without needing to be present.

How can you change your beliefs if you're religious? And the OCD is related? And im not willing to change my faith

You can easily still have faith and treat your ocd.

I’m so stuck on core fear. I have breathing and harm and for the life of me I can really resonate with a core fear? Some make sense but how does one really find the true core fear?
@guadalupebarrios4204
@guadalupebarrios4204 4 месяца назад
Honestly I was stuck with finding a core fear and got stuck in that loop. I eventually noticed my harm thoughts were because I was afraid of making a mistake and it being so unforgivable I could never come back from it. Finding that out did not solve my OCD , it took trial and error to finding a sweet spot where im not reassuring myself and I am doing exposures without reassuring myself with them. Now I have a thought and its like any other.

Hey Colt - you'll have to take the risk and break a few down and see how it goes.
