One of my favorite things about this movie is that you *think* all these people are going to hurt or hinder this man, but legitimately almost every person he interacts with ends up wishing him nothing but the best
Well when you come and start stating you’re setting a land speed record on an Indian. It’s very strange. Then again suspicion alone isn’t a crime. Just suspicious
@ry8539 I like to build things and work/talk with people who build their own things. Especially old motorcycles. Working in the shop, drinking a six-pack, and talking with Burt would be a high moment in my life. Visiting his Scout is pretty cool too. Good on Ya.
@@bmanning4999back in those days you knew when talking land speed records and Indians that it was for one of the bigger motorcycle companies at the time…
"The World's Fastest Indian" -a great film! Had watched it years ago, would recommend it to everyone. This New Zealander's land speed record still holds. It's unbroken because after he set the record, bike contests were deemed unsafe.
Absolutely. This is by far one of My dads and I favorite movies. Its Great movie family film honestly. Good messages. He's so nice to everyone and yeah. When he's out at the track their so worried about him they didn't want to let him go. They eventually were just going to test him to see if he could ride it and maybe they'd let him. But they were hoping that would satisfy him. But during the test he opened it up and blew them away and suprised the crap out of them so instead of just trying to appease him they got serious about it and did everything they could to help him Messaging like being a good person will get you much further in life. Being nice even in the pursuit of your dreams will always pay off and get you much further than being a rude horrible person. And if your a good person then you'll make good friends along the way. I wish movies today had such good messaging. Even this one had '
Isn’t that because after he set the record, those kinds of races were deemed unsafe. Not to diminish accomplishment or anything, but I’m sure someone could beat the record with a modern vehicle if they were allowed to try
@deathtrooper9003 nope. Plenty of other vehicles have set records faster more recently, but those are in larger engine classes. For that engine size, he still either holds the record or it was recently beaten.
@@bryanwood5406 did the research, I guess the reason he still holds the record is because it’s kind of a niche one in the modern era. Apparently there’s a respectful community that knows they could break it but intentionally have not done so.
@@deathtrooper9003not exactly, there's a few people trying but Munros Indian of that era and displacement is... Pretty much ragged edge of what you can do and remain in vintage classes
@@Beechhill from my experience human liver pairs better with a chianti. The writer clearly lacked direct culinary experience if they suggested an amarone of all things!
Fun fact, the city where Burt is from, Invercargill New Zealand has a masssisve bike gathering every year and its named after him, in memory of him and his Indian
Reminds me of a quote (I forget the source): "If you take too much time deciding what you are going to do in life, you will find that you have already done it".
What's being American got to do with it? The subtitles on these shorts are always wildly wrong because they use a low quality AI to automatically apply them to churn them out. Instances in which characters speak fastly or quietly are the worst offenders.
my dad and i went to reno for the airraces last year, i remember on the 3rd day we went to the national auto museum, and that indian motorcycle is there
Chay Blyth tells a great story about arriving is USA in 1966 on a one way ticket. When customs asked how he intended to return home to the UK, he told them he was going to row a boat! Similar level of disbelief. Never previously achieved, but he did it, with John Ridgeway.
@@SamU_115 Interestingly enough its where our accent comes from. Because most of the people that came to Aotearoa from the UK during colonisation were of the middle class. Comparative to Australia where most were from London and Poor. If you listen to east enders you can hear the aussie accent. Of course they are heavily evolved.
It's been years since I've seen this movie, but it stuck with me because it felt like everywhere he went, he was making friends. Even ended up with a girlfriend, if I recall correctly.
World’s fastest Indian. not THAT Indian, it’s just the name / brand of a 1920’s motorcycle that this man basically broke some speed records out of it at the bonneville salt flats. Based on a true story.
@@Dinesh-mb8eu they aren't using India as their brand lmfao they're using native Americans which used to be incorrectly called indians as their brand because us natives were the fastest horse riders the world has ever known.
You marvel soy boys kill me. It's sir Anthony Hopkins one of the greatest actor alive with an outstanding record of amazing films. His one small side roll in a marvel movie is such a cringe thing to notice him for.
One of the best movies ever.. the joy of pursuing a dream and realising it. Respect for Mr. Monroe for motivating millions of bikers a dream. Ride safe guys..
The accent is specific to a region (Southland), time (1950s-1960s NZ was heavily influenced by brit TV and grandparents), and familial background (Scottish). It is actually a really really good accent especially for a foreigner.
@@bolivianbillionaire1349 because southlanders sound pommy. Cantabrians sound Australian . Stick to Bolivia bro. The south island doesn't have 1 accent just like the north island doesn't .
Honestly I can never take Anthony Hopkins "seriously" in any movie I see him in. All I can think about is "Oh now he's gonna attack that dude and eat his heart out or something" lol His performance in silence of the lambs was so good that he'll forever be Hannibal Lecter to me
That’s N Zed Aotearoa Mate. We are the country to the right and below Australia on the map😂 Bert, was and always will be a hero to me. Go Invercargill!
But Munro's a successful New Zealander who has success in Australia. Think Phar Lap, John Clarke, Russell Crowe and plenty more besides. They have success here and we think they're Australian, fail and we check which country they are actually from. Only exception there is Rugby Union, where nearly all of the success belongs across the ditch.
@@micaheiber1419 don't forget about how our Guns go to Mexico and in return they give us copious amounts of drugs! Seriously, people treat every single immigrant as if their sole purpose is to destroy America. Those people have never had to face circumstances anywhere close to what many of those immigrants had to in order to uproot and risk their entire lives to get to the USA to seek a safer and more stable life. When did empathy die?
