In this video, Jack and I take you along for a tour of one of my favorite places in Washington, D.C. - the Library of Congress. With all the other monuments and historic buildings in our nation's capitol city, a lot of visitors miss out on this one. But we are going to show you we think you can't miss checking this placee out in person! We will share some of the library's history with you and show you around the library's magnificent Thomas Jefferson Building. We will even see some of the highlights of the largest library collection in the world. If you are a book lover, a history lover or an art lover, I think you will enjoy spending some time with us at the Library of Congress.
If you enjoyed this video, please help us out by subscribing to our channel. And then please click on the notification bell so you will know when our new travel videos are posted. We have more travel content coming out all through the year. We hope you will come along for the ride!

There is a lot of amazing architecture in Washington, D.C. And this particular building is one of my favorite examples of it. You should definitely try to plan a trip for a few days to explore if that interests you. We highly recommend! Thanks for watching and for commenting!

Another place I missed when we in DC. That bottomless mimosa brunch really took us out thar day. Maybe next time. This does look really nice though. 173 million items across 4 buildings? Wow!! The Jefferson book collection is massive! Sad that so many of those original books were lost in another fire. Cool that they have such a large collection of audio files and photos. Awesome video!!
@VacationingWithTheValentins
👍🏻45 Wow so much history here! It really looks amazing! So much great architecture, sculptures and paintings! That's so cool how big Thomas Jeffersons collection was. Thank you for bringing us along My Friends!

Great joke, Jack! Well, sort of anyway. Enjoyed the Library tour. The closest we've ever come was in National Treasure! Part two, I believe. So many wonderful displays and amazing artifacts of our nations history. World history too! Loved the tour, Jack and Alice. Contrary though to popular belief most Congress men and woman can read! How else would they understand the bribe e mails and notes? 🤣🤣
@trvlnthru
@trvlnthru Год назад
LOL. I suppose that is proof that they can read. When they want to. It was amazing to walk in the same building Nicholas Cage once walked in National Treasure Two. We did not have time to search for the book of secrets though. But we did enjoy the afternoon walking through this beautiful biilding and enjoying the exhibits and the amazing artwork and architechture. Thanks for joining us for the tour!

I can't imagine how many artists and craftsmen it took to do all of those murals and the intricate designs of the column caps, etc. I'd probably spend the majority of my time there studying that. They were stunning.

It is amazing to think about all the many, many hours of work that must have gone in to this building and its architecture and artwork. It is amazing just to walk around looking at the walls and ceilings and floors. Everywhere you look is more beauty to study. I love this building! Hey Alice I can see why this is one of your favourite buildings, it's so beautiful, I loved the architecture and the statues especially those of Moses and the Apostle Paul must be great to see, and the carvings along with the paintings are beautiful . Loved the quotes on the walls and the stunning ceilings too. Jefferson definitely had a lot of books to kick-start this off ! It was really good to see inside the Librarian of Congress office and so interesting about the Gutenberg Bible. That was a great tour, sooo interesting :) ~ Anna

Cheesy intro but cute. Wow it took so long to have a separate library of Congress. The stained glass and tiles of Great Hall are stunning. Amazing to think some books of original country founders are here. Sheet music has some cool covers. Great tour and thanks for the tips. Cheers to the journey and adventure.

An impressive building very much in the European tradition. The collection is so important for both today and the future. Knowledge should be shared as widely as possible, open to all. Dictators throughout history have tried to control what is known so that their agenda is not questioned. We still see that increasingly in places like Russia today. Freedom of information and access to the accumulated wisdom (or mistakes in history) is so important.

Addison and I are headed to DC this week. So we’ll try to hit this library. This so beautiful. I don’t think I have made it there before. Any other must see when we go? Oh National Treasure 2 was filmed here. Will need to go here. Doing a DC filming location themed video. Really cool about those printed Bibles. Can’t wait to explore ourselves.

Hahaha love your opening Jack lol. 🤣"well that was pretty much it..." haha. Love it! I've always wanted to visit DC. Wow a library dating back to the 1800s! Impressive how old that is! The architecture is so beautiful. Nice the Jefferson one is open for tours. The ceilings are incredible!!! Haha love the National Treasure 2 reference - how neat! Sad some of Jefferson's books are still missing, hopefully all are found some day. The Join In exhibit is neat too. Always have to end in the gift shop haha! What a beautiful place to visit. I would love to visit some day! Great video as always Alice & Jack :)
