A completely new very simple idea I had never heard of before this video. I filmed myself taking a back swing and tilting forward at the same time. I've never gotten my hands that high before and I didn't even think about raising them. Looked like how high the pros raise their hands above their head. Also my head didn't sway sideways I can usually does, and again I didn't even have to think about keeping my head steady. Just tilt. Haven't had a chance to try it on the range or the course so I'm yet to see if it makes a difference in ball striking.

Good video. I think you are correct that tilting is a desired motion but it should be noted that. for us older, mid handicappers, it’s a very athletic move that is too difficult to achieve.
@alg7096
@alg7096 3 года назад
definitely doable for even older people as you say. The bigger issue is we end up turning more flat because your brain is just trying to keep you from falling over. You have to learn to not listen to your instincts. That's more the issue than athletic ability although it does play a role depending how poor your health status is.
@BillyDee159

Don’t agree, I’m 80 and a single digit handicap. Focusing on the tilt of the left shoulder down is much more efficient than trying to rotate your shoulders. Just do his exercise with the club folded between the arms and try and get the butt of the club to point to your left foot or the ball. That’s all the turn you need.

@jeddyhi
@jeddyhi 3 года назад
Simply put, when you address the ball with any club, your address is going to have a certain degree of spine angle from bending over at the hips to reach the ball with the club. Maintain that spine angle throughout the backswing and impact. Do not rise out of it. Some people have fear thoughts running through their head like "I'm going to hit it fat, I'm going to break my club, I'm going to throw a 2 ton divot" so they rise. Fight those fear thoughts and stay committed.

Can you explain how side bend in the downswing relates to tilt and weight shift in the transition? I recently started to shift more because I often finish on my trail leg. But as a result, I found it harder to make contact without topping unless I added more side bend. My left hip is pretty inflexible so that was a big change for me. Want to make sure I'm not headed down the wrong rabbit hole...

Excellent discussion. Sometimes when pushing left shoulder down I end up with the weight on front foot. How to avoid that?
@alg7096
@alg7096 3 года назад
You may be standing too faraway from the ball so make sure setup, alignment, posture are all on point which most everyone gets this wrong. You may also be starting out with too much weight on your front foot to begin with. You shouldnt have to 'push' your shoulder down. When you make a tilted turn around a reasonably steady head based on your posture the pressure and weight in your feet should move toward your heel in your trail foot even though your head has moved back very little if at all depending on your flexibility.

@@alg7096 1 million percent. Irons you're hitting down on the ball, driver ur hitting up. That's why you need more trail side tilt with the driver. Plus the ball's a lot further forward with the driver which makes the tilt more prominent.
