It will never be a wrangler, but with that locker the Sequoia is a very capable off roader. Very nice! Sequoias are so heavy that locker helps a ton. Gonna have to do it soon. Any issues with breaking components with a lunchbox on these axles with 33's?
Gorman. I took my bone stock 2002 Sequoia there. Tryed the exact line and we got about a quarter up . It didn't want to do that. I tried again and cut over left or it's a lot easier obviously went up. Then on the far right I went up, pass the paved section.. That's all the off-roading I've done so far in the Sequoia. I've come to the conclusion my first upgrade will be the ARB locker. I came from a Nissan Xterra with factory lockers. And greatly Miss the lockers. The clicking noise would drive me nuts!
It will be great with the arb locker! One day we will have the funds for that, but for now it’s the clicking one for us!! Tag us in your pictures so we can see your build!!
Yup! You just hear a clicking sound when making turns which is the sound of the locker ratcheting. For daily driving it’s just important to not make super fast turns because it will lock up on the streets. When it does lock up on the streets though, the car isn’t thrown at all, you just kind of feel the back side slide a tiny bit
@@overlandingworld hello... my brother did this to his old bronco unstoppable rig but I recall him saying that be careful on snow or rain conditions on daily drive. When both tires lock on a regular corner at speed is an iffy situation if you are not used to... you could start drifting or loose control (this is the main reason most cars have open differentials) Now, my 90s volvo wagon has a limited slip differential...I find this the best of both worlds for daily drive. If you are going hard off road the locker is best. A friend has the arb air locker is pretty intricate to install but I find this a better system for a daily driven offreader. Nice sequoia though.
@@uniqu3xperience965 exactly! You definitely need to be driving more cautious based on the conditions. It takes a little getting used to but once you are comfortable with it, i don’t really think it’s a huge deal!
It’s a coastal off-road bumper. They send you the pieces and you weld yourself. We modified ours and went with tube sides to lighten the weight and change the look!
You can take a turn at the normal 15-20 mph and it doesn’t lock. When you do turn faster than that it sometimes locks up sometimes doesn’t depending on the angle of the turn
