Thanks for the demo. I do rely on the DAW (alongside my Scan & Pan) for spatialisation and one thing I do to avoid having to automate each sound, is to create a bunch of empty audio tracks and pan each of them separately. For instance the first one is 100% left, the second one 75% left, 50% left 25% left etc. and the same for the right. I actually use Goodhertz Panpot because it offers a few more spatial options and I ofter use more and smaller intervals than what I wrote above. Group as you like to maintain overview. This way I have a set framework to throw audio into, rather than having to do the automation thing.
Looks essential to patch from the bottom up otherwise you’re not going to be able to adjust those pan knobs by hand!!! The saturation/ overdrive sounds great though. Actualily got a lot more going on hear 👂 than I first suspected
I just found your videos, they're immensely helpful in understanding what I can do with my modules, as I'm still early in my modular journey. Also, apparently we're neighbors! Excited to hear and see more from you!
Randomly came across your channel and have been going through your videos and laughed when you showed you were in MN! So hello from the southern metro!
Good video. One thing I wished you showed was turning that gain knob to impart saturation, e.g. using a couple of drum samples and synth sounds. Maybe in a follow-up video? cheeers
Good stuff. Automation skit had me cracking up. Def gonna pick up this module. Seems perfect for what I'm looking for. One question for ya: is that one or two tiptop mantis cases? And did you paint them black?
It’s just one. At the time I had a 5 row (15u), 126 hp per rail custom case next to the Mantis. Yes I painted it black…which I wish I would’ve spent a little more time on 😅 The power supply in those is super easy to remove so I just spray painted it black. Wish I would’ve used a better clear coat to protect it, but I sorta rushed it to get the modules back in. Overtime the paint started chipping and I eventually just built my large case for my studio now!
@@Nematomusic future tip...painting is kinda one of my things...moreso than modular haha...krylon fusion spraypaint is the best hands down for plastic...2 or 3 light coats then a wetter final coat so finish is nice and even...no need for clearcoat.
Sony A6400 with a Sigma 16 mm. I used to use a Canon t5i and will probably incorporate that back for some more angles, but I just use my own color correction within FCPX
Ah of course! Underneath that Manis oscillator there are two AJH Synth VCOs, sharktooth waves, running through the transistor laddder filter being sequenced by the Rene! 👌🏼 Thank you!
It's not exactly the same but it feel like the make noise X-pan could do similare things with the paning. I didnt realy get what the scan part was but is it similare thant the x-fade ?
For sure! Very similar designs with slightly different executions, and I would argue this one gives you a little more. “Scan” is definitely like X-fade, just across all four channels instead of two, plus you have the “attenuator” options of width and center to kind of define where it’s scanning from in the stereo field and how far/wide. PLUS! individual panning control and modulation across the 4 channels. It can get wild! 🤙🏼
Does it crossfade as such or is the fading between the channels pretty abrupt? Can you use CV on the VCA channels at the same time as the scan functionality?
www.adafruit.com/product/2057 These are the ones I have on the majority of my modules. Liked them because they were similar to the Noise Engineering modules, which you can actually get here: www.electro-smith.com/parts/noise-engineering-knob
@@Nematomusic yep... already replaced almost all panels to black... (which was crazy expansive) I will try to think about a solution for this crazy shipping cost. Anyway, thank you for replying. Love your videos ;)
With the Zadar? I’d have to nitpick, but I wish there was a way I could create my own envelopes, but with the 270 that are in there and modulation, I don’t know that it would add much. I’m not much for menu diving, but it’s really an easy module to navigate and tons of modulation capabilities in only 10 hp!
Having Verbos in my system at least has to count for something... right? Ha! I’m a sucker for the Noise Engineering style knobs, but many would agree with you!
@@Nematomusic Thank you for replying to my silly comment :) Indeed, I’ve always only seen people going for those red Buchla-style knobs for their entire system, and not sacrilegiously exchanging their Verbos knobs. Which makes it all the more cooler that you did :)
