As a new subscriber, I know I'm supposed to be here for the plants but I just finished watching you educate me on leca. Honey this hair is banging! That color is so pretty & I love it so much on you🥰. You have changed my plant life so I can now actually grow and share propagated cuttings. I'm so happy I found your channel!

I’m so in love with the common plants. Currently my favourites are the Epipremnums, Peperomias, and Chlorophytums. There’s something just so simple and beautiful about them. I did just buy my first inner variegated Hoya carnosa as the leaves just spoke to me.

I completely agree with you about the White Fusion. I bought one after seeing your stunning plant. I washed off all the soil and planted into pon (without a transition). It never missed a beat, has no crisping on the leaves and has doubled in size for me 😍

I have several Hoyas and love them all. One of my favorites is the Retusa. I bought a 3 in pot last year for $10 at a nursery and it has grown and bloomed ever since. After watching several videos, I’m about to propagate a handful of nodes. My goal is to make a fuller pot. Fingers crossed! And I like the vining. It was fun to watch the first one put out a long blank vine and then ‘watch it and see’ for what was going on. (The days before so many planty videos with tons of info.)

I love this video! I swear I cannot look at another velvety Anthurium, everyone seems to rave about their new hybrids and so on. And let's be honest: I'd rather have a "simple", hardy plant that looks absolutely fabulous than a rare plant, that only has one leaf and looks on the brink of death. Also: yes yes yes to Calathea White Fusion. I have a lot of prayer plants and especially this one gives me so much joy. Another is the Calathea picturata - it has velvety backsides, but the upside of the leaf is smooth. I never felt that on a plant before. To top that off: my makoyana has flowered for me this year again. I love Calatheas so much, they bring me so much joy And yes, I also need to cut my Micans every few weeks in summer. I love the look when the evening sun shines on it and it is mixed in greens and reds ❤

I love my red maranta even though it's a "common" plant. Just really proud it started as a one leaf propagation, survived, and now after chop/prop is a full 3 inch plant. To me rare plant is kind of overrated, it's funner to pick plants that just "vibe" with you even if they are common.

I started to fall in love with Hoyas when I started getting into houseplants, however, once I learned they were mealy bug magnets, I tossed all mine out. Truly broke my heart to do so, but I refuse to get a pest infestation that will never go away as long as I have a hoya in my collection. I also don't want my other plants to end up being constantly infested with mealybugs because they're sitting next to a hoya. As much as I love them, they don't seem worth the inevitable future headache.

What you said about calathea resilience - I dropped my baby calathea orbifolia - it had 4 leaves. It had a couple of new shoots poking out the top, and I was picking it up to look. It hit the floor, contents spilled out, and 3 leaves broke off, and one tiny one remained, but with a big 'dent' at the base. I had to put it back in the pot without disrupting the shoots that had started. I'd watered it and had to leave it as no leaves to soak up the water. The shoots did nothing for a while - shock I think. 4 weeks later, 3 small leaves on it, and two massive leaves coming out.

I also upgraded my windows and they all have that UV protection now. I have a ton of plants in the south facing windows and I find I have to add grow lights too! I had an African Violet for like 5 or 6 years and it never flowered for me it all. I kept in what I thought was bright indirect light as instructed on the label. I even forgot to water the poor thing for the longest times. I threw it in with a few other plants I put in my south facing kitchen windows one day and the dang thing bloomed for me!! After that my local grocery store has them very frequently on clearance in a very poor state. I bought like 4 or 5 more for $1.50 each and they all are in bloom and doing great. They need much more light than they tell you. Even my snake plant lives on the window sill and loves it. I bought those windows so my furniture would not fade but the plants love it more. But in regards to Hoyas. I am not a fan of the chunky leaves for some reason. I think they look and feel fake to me. And then I hear they are spidermite magnets. Although, Wild Fern has the most gorgeous Hoya Linearis hanging from her large window ledge and it's breath taking! I did go and buy a starter plant Linearis and it's growing but OMG I will be dead and gone before this thing is even big enough for a 2 inch pot!! When I see one for a decent price I will get a real plant of this one. I am a HUGE fan of Aglaonemas!! I can't get enough of them! I have many varieties and I am looking for others! I just love them! Syngoniums are another of my favs!! I have them everywhere!! I stuck several out on my north facing covered front porch to bulk up over the summer! I love them!! I had a really bushy White Butterfly about 40 years ago and I want another one just like it. My vets office had a HUGE one that was a good 3 feet tall and just as wide! It was gorgeous getting the morning east sun! I love all the Pothos as well!! I have them all and love them all! I just put my Majula on a moss pole because I love Sidney Plants Guys Manjula, gorgeous!! I LOVE your ctenathe's!! They are both gorgeous!! I have them both too but mine are not as big as yours, but they are getting there. I love that genre anyway, I have many plants from this one. But that White Fusion!!!! OMG!!! I am on like my 3 or 4th one now and praying it survives!! Holy Crap!! Yours is amazing!! One plant I was looking for on your list was the Peace Lily. This is another species I just love and have several varieties. My all time, hands down fav is the Platinum Mist. I bought 4 4" pots and put them all into like a 10 or 12 inch terra cotta pot about 2 years ago now, and it looks amazing!! Just stunning! I also have a Dominoe and the huge one, (can't remember the name, "Supreme??" ), and both of them are troopers handling under watering very well. I use a moisture meter so I don't over water too much anymore, but I love this species very much. Sorry for the book I have written here, LOL.

The calathea white fusion is the only one I still have on my "I'll buy it instantly even if I need to work there for the day to pay for it" list 😬 These are the prayer plants I currently have: calathea medallion calathea rosiopicta calathea ornata Maranta kerchoveana Maranta silver band calathea orbifolia calathea Freddie calathea vittata ctenanthe setosa calathea rattlesnake Maranta lemon lime stromanthe triostar Some pray really actively like the medallion, maranta's, cthenanthe and the Triostar! Others are a lot more still like the ornata and vitatta I have them ALL in my bedroom and they make me laugh almost daily when a leaf jumps and then bounces BC it was caught on itself or a wall and wanted to move! I joked last week that my cthenanthe Setosa was praying my bird wouldn't shred it again the next day!

The only hoya that really speaks to me is the Hoya linearis. I couldn't tell you why, I don't feel anything when I look at other hoyas. I'm also not really into anthuriums. The genera that get me feeling all excited are: alocasias, self-heading philodendrons, caladiums, begonias, and ferns. I also like some calatheas, aglaonemas, monsteras and jungle cacti. now that I've listed them all, I do see a pattern, and yes, I am an overwaterer.😄

I love your excitement talking about your babies! And I agree about all of them, especially the ctenanthe. I recently got the Burke marxii and it’s doubled in size in two months, has NO browning, yellowing, and definitely can tolerate drying out much better than calathea. Also, mines in low humidity here in CO. I love this plant, and it’s beautiful!

Great video, learned so much about my struggling plants e.g. plastic cages ugh ! My Ag Maria got very tall and lost most of the lesves from the middle down, so un desperation, I cut all the tops an rooted them in water (successfully) and crossed my fingers and cut the stems in the mother pot back to about inch and hoped for the best. In about a month I had besutuful little leaves emerging and now I have a new Maria. Yay !! 😊

Linearis typically doesn’t bloom for me until the fall just fyi - so don’t get down on yourself if it doesn’t this summer - I think it needs a temp drop to initiate the blooms since it’s a higher elevation hoya 💚

Loved this video. I really appreciated your comment about starting with plants that build your confidence. I started a year ago branching out from violets. I've found that pothos, trailing philodendrons, peperomia, and syngoniums have been confidence builders for me. Oddly, so has the red maranta and the money tree. Draceana and calathea have not. I have not ventured into hoyas until just this week when I found deals I couldn't pass up. I got a carnosa pink princess with 3 fairly long stems and a single compacta with a 4 inch stem. We'll see how they do.. Oh, and thanks for your comment about Brasil being okay a little further back from the window. It's growing so fast but I've been afraid it will lose it's variagation if it's not right in the window.

Your Calathea White Fusion is beautiful! Most people’s are not! I struggle with everything in the Calathea/Maranta families, so I would be hesitant to try it. Calathea Elgergrass is the only one I’ve kept alive for over two years. My heartleaf Philodendrons and Hoyas are much more resilient!

Prayer plants are my favorite; I own A LOT, or I did; now I'm not sure because quite a few took a crap this past winter and I cut them down to the soil. We'll see how many I have left. One of those was my White Fusion, so I am extremely envious, you have no idea. I'll have to take your word that she'll recover, I have my doubts. I might have to move to Texas (I love Texas, btw), as Ohio winters are brutal on my collection. However, my hoya are all doing well, even though none! have ever bloomed for me and some are at least 3 yrs old. The peduncles just dry up and fall off. Have you seen the newish hybrid hoya from Proven Winners? Its called Adrift and I think you would like it. It has slender, lance shaped leaves with dark red margins, not variegated or showy, understated, but really cute. I found it at Home Depot just a day or so ago. Green micans is wonderful; the new variegated ones generally look diseased to me. I own all the plants in this video so I agree with you on all of them. I subscribed very early and you are one of the best planty channels on RU-vid. I knew it was just a matter of time before others thought so too. So glad to see your channel growing.

Good video! I almost didn't watch it because it sounded like fluff. I'm glad I did. 🙂 No 'coming for you' on the Ctenanthe Lubbersiana or the Fusion White Calathea from me! I totally agree! I also love my various Pothos, my Philodendron Micans, and my Brasil! Oh, also my Hoya's - Curtisii and Krimson Queen. Oddly enough, even though I know Fusion Whites are supposed to be spider mite magnets, I have had mine for 8 months without a single outbreak. I wonder if it is the area I live in? We regularly get down to single digit temperatures, and have a number of nights that are negative - down to as low as -20. Our winter humidity is also very low - around 17% - so I make sure to run humidifiers for all of my plants, but especially the Prayer Plant members. I do my best to keep the humidity around them at or above 30%. As far as your Aglaonema Maria goes, I have mine in the living room about 4' back from both a south facing window and an east facing window. She bloomed profusely, but never lost a single leaf. My Aglaonema Silver Bay has never bloomed for me, though. No idea why my post is showing up in 2 different places.

I love my prayer plants, my Burle Marx and Peacock are doing great and are my fastest growers. No brown or yellow leaves, no drooping and are very bushy. Was very afraid when I bought them and did my research. Don't come for me, but they're on a south facing window, I'm an underwaterer, and my area is semi desertic, so I don't even know what I'm doing. Maybe they're growing so much because they're afraid of my parenting skills and wanna reach the door and flee. Who knows.

By the way, I agree with you about calatheas. I have a calathea medallion living in my bathroom. I would have never thought I would have it. But it is particularly sensitive to chlorine and all that so I put water conditioner in its water and it is growing new leaves. It is one of the most beautiful plants I have ever had. And I have other calatheas that don't like the bathroom and they live out in the house so they're definitely not all alike

I like Hoya, but my curtisii does nothing for me. I keep wishing to find a swap. My favorites are Heuschkeliana variegated and Wayetii variegated. Of the prayer plants, I find Calathea lancifolia and Stromanthe Tricolor the easiest. My Stella (White Fusion look-alike) dies down, comes back, dies again...but it's never been as lush as yours. My favorite Epipremnum is Manjula. I'm waiting for Aglaonema Pictus Tricolor to come down in price to get one. I find Monstera Karstenianum (Peru) underrated. The leaves are so big, so textured, and soooooo shiny! Philodendron micans was my first love, 50 years ago! I also like Silver Stripe. I enjoyed this video!

They grow slow for people because they let them dry out all the way. I find they do better with normal watering, maybe give that a try. - I LOVE Calatheas! Just treat them as you would a fern and you are golden! Yeah I have to agree, I think Calatheas and especially Ferns are highly under-rated. If the top is just slightly damp, it's time to water, whereas with other plants it's harder for me to know.

.. I love my Syngoniums, all of them, and I got the many.. My Pixie though, I bought out of curiosity and she was the cutest little syngonium ever.. Now she's twice her size both taller and fuller, and even though she won't get any bigger than that, she's so very cute.. Now you made me want the Glo Go too, maybe they're siblings?? 🤔 ☺️ I love my scindapsus, all of them.. They are so easy and so crazy at the same time.. Two leaves gone and they look leggy and weird, not too much water, not too little, they don't want attention but prefer to be left alone😳 my epipremnums are more or less the same way, but they will scream after you if left alone for too long.. Now you made me wish for a Jade's and Pearls ☺️ I love my Snow Queen dearly.. She's a rescue that I found where our garden trash are collected.. She was on the brink of death and I really wasn't sure if she would survive.. Now a year later she's adorable and so big and beautiful.. She's next to my Micans in hope that she can tell her that growing isn't the worst thing to do 😉 my Brazil is amazing really.. I took cuttings from her last year and they are growing up a moss pole.. Mother hanging right above still looking gorgeous.. I've got same ctenanthe plants as you and they are my dearest, they are so easy going and don't make a fuzz out of anything, they just want their water, some light and clean leaves.. And they are blooming too.. My white fusion is just a baby, seriously a baby in a 1 inch pot 😳 I really hope she survives.. She's so cute, but scary.. I'm usually not very good with that small plants.. It's a looong way for her to grow as big as yours 🥺And then there's my Heart Leaf, Golden Pothos, my all my maranta's 🤗 and my beautiful Triostar ☺️🤗 Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and your time.. It's always interesting and fun..

I have 5 Hoyas and I like all of them. Some of them grow like crazy, the other 3 have barely grown if at all. There are 2 others that I want and those are the sarawak and polyneura. I have found that Aglaonemas do not like too much light. I have had some under grow light and they did not like it. They sit on the floor beside the plant shelf and they are now growing. They're just weird. I only have one syngonium and it is just the weirdest growing plant I have ever seen. It's the batik. It just grows in every direction but I have to love it because it is the only one I've ever had that thrived in my house. And I love all philodendrons. I finally have my brazil growing now. They're all beautiful.

Yes, that shirt and others are available in the shop which you can access beneath the video description somewhere. RU-vid doesn’t show all the items, so you have to click on one item and it will take you to the full store.

If the box is blue in the calathea white fusion, I can see it. 😅

The box is white, but I realized after filming the video that there was a food tab on there too, and that is blue so that must be what you saw. Good eye!

All of the philodendron hederaceum varieties are too tier. I love the way they cascade so fully like a waterfall. Better than Pothos IMO.

Damn can we say plant "growers" gone wild? So many people/new companies naming and renaming plants & "hybrids" from pseudo new hybrids plants. All these new plant "breeders"/sellers and implying they're botanist is all craziness and an attempt to profit off of this plant trend befor the plant bubble bust. I cannot pin point which consumers are falling for these rare. new plants and paying high price for plants that 1) Plant hybrids and cultivars take a long time to create in research and establish stable hardy plants 2) A person/company simply crossing plants with hybrids, even more bogus hybrid with hybrid doesn't mean you created a new unstable or stable plant. Without the proper documentation research to show, it is not legit. And this sense of entitlement, in which "breeders" "growers" are naming old plants as if they created a new type of plant in the genus or species is freaking ridiculous but their scam is actually working because people are actually buying "rare' "new" plants is seed and tissue without knowing if they're are consuming a frankenstein plant that can potentially be weak and prone to fungal and viral diseases.

Where did you get that clear 8 in. shallow pot you have you're Anglaonema potted in? Btw, I have Anglaonemas rooting in water that I got a cutting from a hallway from work and a different type potted in soil. It hasn't given me problems like the Diffenbachia but it is not as lush. Perhaps it's the lack of attention I've given them (I have not neglected them like some plants get) but I assume because my cuttings in water came from a large buiding hallway with no windows around the plant, then my bright sunlit livingroom with big open west and south windows or my bedroom which gets filtered morning sun, low light in the afternoon this plant will be easy and lush. Wrong. They are doing ok in any room but not as good as the ones where I got the cuttings from and not as good as when I first purchased. My building that houses my workplace has this plant is even growing in the underground parking structure here with mother in-law's tongue plant as well. It's a garage with no windows, a dark place with enough lighting for people to safely get to their cars.

Was looking for the answer to the clear 8" pot as well. Just checked Drea's Amazon store and see that it was a 6" deep drip tray.

@@RangerPuff I don't understand if you're referring to the video or Drea's Amazon or both? Do you mean the one in the video is 8" round and 6" depth?

Shhhh.... Don't alert ppl to beauty and ease of care for aglaonemas!!! Year after year, I keep being scared they are going to jump up in price and become hard to find. They are in my top 3 favorite plant categories along with, hoyas and monsteras!!

Thanks for including the White Fusion, I got my first one a couple of months ago despite everything I've heard about them. I've moved her from soil to leca and I'm being a bit of a helicopter plant-parent, but (touch wood) she's doing great. I have had great success with Marantas, Begonias, and Ferns in the past, so I have hope! I've probably jinxed that by saying out out loud now though, just watch me wake up tomorrow and she's a crunchy dorito! 😂
