One of THE most asked questions we get, is what are backshot and how do you use them. This video should answer any question you can think of and shows how both Andy and Jamie use them in a different way.

I just love these two guys I am a new pole user at the age of 71 and have learned loads of good stuff from both of them. They are very informative and very entertaining, they just work so well together. Keep up the good work, cant wait to get out with my pole and practice what I am learning.

Having been a keen angler for over 30 years, I don't ofrten see anything I've not seen before. Lot's of you tubers show, and teach everything there is to know, covering all aspects of the sport. But there are only a couplr of those channels I keep going back to. Not for the instruction, but the entertainment value. This is one of them. Thanks Guy's, you keep me coming back.

Its really refreshing to see some fisherpeople (thanks 2020) being a bit silly, comical and not taking themselves too serious. You two, Carl and Alex and the snagged bros are my favorite fishing influences. Keep up the good work, I'd love to see you 2 and Carl and Alex having a match. One of their Carl vs Alex with pros. That would be a class video

As usual couldn't sleep. My goto videos are you mad fellas. What a great tip this is. Ok m relatively new to pole fishing so trying an inexpensive but branded 8m at the moment and because of this it's a bit hard to control...my technique not the best yet but this will help my presentation more than anything I've seen yet. Taaa lads.

Nice one chaps, I can see the benefits of both methods, the hardest bit for me is, what conditions to use one over the other. Choices ,choices.

I use Jamie's way for stability in windy conditions when fishing on the deck but Andy's way when fishing through the water. I use 2 x No 8's and colour 1 white and 1 black that I can see them regardless of light conditions.

Fun and informative. I use a back shot on the river all the time but not so often on a lake. Certainly using these learnings next time on a lake. Thank you

Have u tried using an in-line Olivette for paste fishing? Works a treat & stops any tangles 👍
@markwhibley9787

Nick Thomas I have when fishing deeper but I mainly use Big H floats that are self cocking so the paste dots it down if you have plumbed up very accurately ☑️

After watching that I can only see Jamie's being the best way. Everything is sunk and you can control the height of the float too. Very adaptable and in a gale it's surely better than tipex stots wafting about lol

Great advice. My question why did fisheries bring in the rule of amount of line between pole tip and float? When I used to match fish this rule never existed
@WinningWays
@WinningWays 3 года назад
Just to stop people sliding the float all the way up and effectively fishing a direct rig.
@richardpope1884
@richardpope1884 3 года назад
On the method used by Jamie is the amount of back shot used included in the weight required to set the float as it's fished in the water or by keeping a tight line to the back shot does this mean that it doesn't actually form part of the shotting weight? I can see that it wouldn't using Andy's method as it is held out of the water.
@WinningWays
@WinningWays 3 года назад
No the back shot is additional weight so if you let everything come into play the float will sink. With the way Jamie does it with it being over half way up the line, the only way this can happen is if you sink the tip of your pole underwater.

I fish with an elasticated whip predominantly with shop bought rigs and am always messing around cutting them down, trying to minimise tip to float length to maximize strike success......would you advise trying to attach a back weight to a shop bought rig instead?
