I've got a brass 41 I bought in the Army back in '13. 10 years of patina makes it look amazing. Not sure when they stopped the patent numbers but mine has it. Truly the best looking Zippo ever. If they offered a 41 Armor that would be the end all be all.
As a mechanic can tell you I carried a black crackle for 4-5 years before I quit smoking. Now I carry an ebony but black crackle is still one of my favorite styles.
I've been saving up to try and get an original WWII black crackle. Cannot find one in my price range so decided to get a 41 sterling replica instead. Then I'll get the chrome. Probably will end up getting another brass one too inorder to put the insert in the sterling. I think that would look sweet together.🙂
@@zippolyonsden1623 that would look very nice I agree. If zippo ever gets off they’re asses and makes us rose gold inserts , regular , 41 , 35 and butanes. We will be set my friend. Original black crackle is overrated anyways. There’s millions and millions of them. Money grab for those things. Plus they rust buckets. All cheap steel
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors a 41 rose gold would be just too awesome to have in my collection. Hopefully Zippo will listen and make one finally. 🙂 I would definately buy a few.
Great video ! 41 is held in high regards. Historical significance through the roof. Don’t have a black Ice or silver one. Might get them now you made me patriotic towards the 41 today
Hi ZF! Found your new channel last week. Got the 41 Black Crackle for me about 3 months ago cause i liked the history behind this piece. Good to see you again!
The design is Eternity. I have the 41 brushed chrome with single torch insert, it is a little bit slippery on the sides cuz the sides are high polished chrome not brushed as the face & back . Simply i love it 💓.
Lisa !!! Hell yeah I love that one too. Glad it means as much to u as it did me making it ! I enjoyed that one cause it was one I actually had wanted to do.
Bought 2 of the chrome 41's back in 06 for my father and me. Other than the expected wear from being in pockets with coins and knives for 17 years, they are still both in great condition. The rounded edges definitely feel better to hold.
I like your footage, bro. There are a lotta people that do this, but you convinced me to start collecting these pieces of art. It's a symbol of *The 2nd Renaissance because it played a big role in WW II * . I want to modify one of mine with a *Star Wars V Empire Strikes Back* brass emblem and another with *Michael from The Godfather sitting in a chair with his father's hands on his shoulders.* Brass and chrome go so well together. I have a plain brush fin chrome lighter that would really stand out with a brass emblem. I just started collecting and this is a really cool hobby. I only have four atm, but they're all from this decade except my Jack Daniel's chrome from 2018. *That's as vintage as they come in my book* 😂
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors That's a very good question. I haven't seen any spots here in South Africa. I'm pretty sure there are locals that can do that.
I just bought a 1941 Replica Black Crackle. I love the iconic-ness of iconic lighters with this one. Gifted to GIs during WWII, coveted by those who owned them...as a Brit who loves WWII history being glad that the USA joined the war....I just had to have one!
Just got my 41 black crackle, I didnt think id like the finish but its probably the best finish zippo makes. Not rough at all and very grippy. Perfect for a dual torch and a dynavap.
Just got silver 41 from facebook marketplace for $40, guy quit smoking and was getting rid of all his smoking stuff. Couldnt believe it when I saw it on there.
This video sold me on the 41 Replica. I just ordered one (out of stock at Zippo so I had to go elsewhere). I love my 35 Replica, but this will be a nice addition.
Nice !!! I do like the 35 also but the 41 is what put zippo company on the map. Any zippo insert fits in it. 4 barrel hinge is a tank. I’ve never broke one. It’s a good buy. May I recommend the brushed brass 41.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Yes, that is exactly what I ordered! We must have the same taste. I have a relatively old (1985) brass Venetian Zippo that looks great, even better now than when it was new.
@@OnTheRiver66 when I was young the first Venetian I’ve ever seen was a brass one. It was my sons grandfathers. Now it looks absolutely perfect with the tarnish. Def better than when it was brand new
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors My brass 41 came two days ago and I love it. I ordered it from Walmart (another store sent it) and I made sure it was not counterfeit based on your video. The funny thing is I had to sign for it! Cannot figure that out.
i got my first 41 a few days ago and i thought it was a fake because it didnt have the patent number! this made me feel so much better! I actually thought i wouldnt like the 41's shape but its grown on me VERY quickly!
Love the 1941... I only have one, The Black Ice one and I bought it as a case only, back then I didn't know that the insert of the 1941 is different lol I intended to use it as my EDC, but I heard from others that the finish would wear off like you also said. So I just put it into my display. Maybe I will buy the Black Crackle one, that would be cool as an EDC :D
Could only have one for the rest of my life because it needs to last forever. Then the 41. But if it’s only carry one style but get as many new ones as I want whenever I want then armor.
I'm an armor and a standard guy. Just love the armors weight and a standard with a yellow flame insert feels good. My brass armor has the best sound but I do still love the sound of my classic brass from 03, she's sweet. I didn't get on with the black crackle replica, didn't like the crackle finish but was more to do with the angular shape, armors feel better to me, melt in my hand, preferred user, would like to give the brass 41 a go though one day.
I have a black cracle 41 rep, but zippo messed up on the bottom and the crackle goes over the patent number, but its the one i use the most, i think it would look sick when the corners wear out and expose the metal underneath, i just wish i bought 2 so i coulda kept one mint
I only have one black chrome, it's the cannabis leaf one. It looks really nice. I didn't know that there was only a fine layer of the black chrome then just chrome...disappointing really that it's just a normal chrome underneath, I mean you can't even customize them and that just ruins what your doing they should be completely black chrome right the way through.
Yeah but to save the money I completely agree why they did. Faster and more affective. They already have the chrome on them. Makes sense from they’re standpoint.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors makes me not want to use mine now, knowing it will wear away quite quickly. I mean I thought the same about the silver plated Zippo until I saw your video telling me about the clear coat, pity they don't do the same for the black chrome 🤷🏽♂️
Quick question bro, does the sound change if it’s brushed or polished ? Sorry if I sound stupid. Also, is there a sound change between chrome and brass ? Right now in my cart I have -Armor high polish Chrome (I like the chrome color the best cause it seems like the movies more, especially when polished) -Classic Brushed Solid Brass -Brushed Chrome 1941 Replica Out of all things, I care about sound first and then chrome second. I’m just now about to start getting into zippos and just want to be satisfied with my first purchase. Please let me know bro 🙇♂️ I wanna order these things but I’m thinking of letting go of one of them FOR NOW.
Which sound better when you open them, 1941 brass or Armor brass? I had only 41's and was thinking buying an Armor Brass. From all the Zippos i've heard, still 41 sounds the best in my opinion. Thanks!
So I just bought a black crackle off of Amazon sold by Zippo everything looks legit except for the fact when I open the lighter the top lid doesn't touch the back of the case when fully open. The 4 barrel hinge is super tight and there is no wiggle in the top lid at all. Does the hinge need to break in before the top lid will touch the back of the lighter or will it fully open from factory ? I'm paranoid I received a really good looking 1941 clone zippo. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hey! I was hoping you could bestow some knowledge here, i was thinking id love a 41 replica but smooth brass, can you remove the black crackle by soaking it in acetone to get a high polished 41 brass? the same way as a modern matte coating? Or would my best bet be to sand down a brushed brass?
Hi there,if you have a limited budget which one would you pick between brushed brass or black crackle?and which one has better "ping" sound? I prefer brushed brass since it gives more old and vintage looks, but black crackle looks more like a modern zippo and...hey thats a good looking lighters!
Is the 41 replica brass lighter insert brass-plated, or solid brass? Just wanted to know so it doesnt just one day become worn to the point where it looks steel instead of brass.
I got the brass brushed chrome 41 replica myself before they changed it to say replica on the bottom still has the patent number on mine, or didn't they change it to say replica in the end? I remember reading about it a while back.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Thank very much for your very quick response. Truly incredible literally liken18nminutes ago. I also found another video of yours explaining them all, that was also very well made.
late night impulse led me to purchase a 41 rep black crackle for 47$ including shipping on amazon, so hyped, quick question why is the bottom of black crackle steel looking? is it made from brass still
@@killthecoils8634 no the colour on the bottom is on the entire zippo. Then the crackle over that. About the acetone should work. I don’t know though never tried it
Just to add to my comment...yes fully agree having "1941 Replica" stamped on the bottom instead on the Pat No is very irksome, vexing and annoying! Probably some new -director- muppet at Zippo Inc trying to make a name for himself within the company!
Hahaha yeah maybe. I think it was to combat fakes people thinking they were original vintage but the date is on the bottom ! Lol some people are so dumb
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Thanks for responding to all of my comments! Thats very decent of you! All your videos are good quality just like Zippo themselves lol.
just got my 41 replica black crackle. it has oxidation stains in it and insert is made in I 22 and case is B 23. ask those to turkey distrubitor they said its totally fine. what do u think?
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors okay! thanks for the reply! one more thing, the 41 replica insert comes off pretty easily, are yours like that too? it gets little upward when i open it so i can push it down again
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors thanks! i actually used sandwich bag trick, and used your way to fill cotton bacons and wick. my zippos fuel last 9 days now! it was lasting 1 day lastly !! thanks a lot love ur channel
