Yoooo. This video was needed AGES ago. You have no idea how much money I've spent buying jewelry online that eventually ended up being either too big or too small. One amazing thing is that I've ordered from Tulsa Body Jewelry, and their business card has measurements from gauge, diameter, mm. I wish I had stuff like this previously.
Ugh I definitely went to the wrong piercer ! 🙄 didn’t get much info at all or any of this, it was my first cartilage piercing so I didn’t know what exactly to ask for.. anddd! Currently working on getting rid of a piercing bump on that piercing too 😭

I have super small ears and my piercer told me that he had to pierce my conch with a 6mm bar and my rook with an 8mm banana both in 16g about a year ago and now they are completely healed and I use a 4mm labret bar in my conch and a 6mm banana in my rook, it is indeed super important to ask because eventhough in most cases there is a stablished size in cases like mine it varies, thank you for the video!!!
Johnny too many people only interested in how the piercing looks rather than aftercare, sizing, troubleshooting dos and don’ts. It’s a process and something you need to educate yourself about before you commit to it.😅
@Celine Noel I would recommend you avoid cheap jewelry as they often are made with copper, nickel, tin, zinc or brass which can cause an allergic reaction or serious infections!
My struggle is downsizing my helix. I recently went abroad and I don’t know any professional piercer. I tried doing it by myself but I only succeeded in doing the lower helix. Now I need to downsize the upper helix but I’m scared.
So I just got a another ear lobe piercing. My second one. Was thinking of a helix piercing and be my third and last piercing. But should I ask them for a 8 mm length and gauage stud? And should I start out with a stud or hoop? I would think stud Bc it’s easy to turn it and clean under neath and around it.
My piercer didn't give me the option of a stud and instead used a hoop on my helix (I didn't know the difference at the time and didn't think anything of it) Do hoops still need to be downsized?
How do you know your length if you have hoops? I have a 16 g helix but it's a hoop... I believe it's 10 mm... how do I know my length size for other kinds of helix earrings (studs etc)
I know the post is called a Labret, but is there types? Like I've seen Industrial, Couture etc types of Labrets fitting a system is this the case? I naively thought Labrets were all the same.
I got my septum pierced by shady people and they told me the gauge size but I had to figure out the diameter based on trial and error. so much wasted money aaaa
Wow thank you so much for his info!!! I had my nose pierced in January ( almost 5 months ) with 18g titanium L-shape it’s doing really well . just trying to give it ample healing time... My concern is my nostril is on the thicker side and I’m worried that a standard L -shape that you can buy off line will not be big enough.... is a straight bend to shape my only option ? Hi! Have you tried purchasing labret posts? They are extremely comfortable and you can always measure your current jewelry to match the length you need. With labret posts you can have treaded or Threadless (push in jewelry). I use these for my nostril. If you make the switch, I would definitely recommend getting the post a little longer incase you swell.
My piercer told me nothing about aftercare for my helix piercing, she was going to let me leave the shop without even getting any saline solution (but I at least knew to ask about that). I have no idea what the size or gauge is but I know it’s too long for my ear and I’m starting to form a piercing bump 😫 do you have any advice on how I should downsize without knowing the measurements?
My double forward helix looks too close together because I haven't downsized.. almost a year later. Having trouble finding 2mm stud or ball back barbell. Do not want labret there. Any thoughts?
i got my nostril pierced october 10th and it’s my first piercing. i didn’t even think to ask about what size my jewelry was until after the fact and now it’s stressing me out 💀 guess i still have some time before i need to figure it out tho bc it’s not time to change
I have this problem with my tongue. The "standard" size websites sell are just too tight. They start to feel uncomfortable after a while. But I just use the bar that fits and change the balls to whatever is the right gauge.
i know everyone is different, what’s ok for me isn’t necessarily ok for everyone, but actually i’ve been going through the process of very slowly stretching my daith piercing. as in i have plans to once a year get my pierced to change to a thicker gauge. right now i’m only at 14, but when she sizes up it goes through a healing process like a new piercing would but ends fine. also she can tell gauge and length instantly by just glancing at the jewelry
I have a 3 week old belly piercing who was still red / raw beneath the top and bottom ball. Looked a lot like the bar was too short. So my piercer suggested I switch to a 16 gauge (it was pierced as a 14 gauge). I did what she said this morning and now I can't help but worry that a 14 gauge won't fit anymore once it's healed. Should I put the 14 gauge back while I still can or will it eventually fit with some lubrication? Opinions and advice please.
So I have a question, I got my inner conch pierced 1 month ago. It doesn’t hurt and is not irritated but the bar is long of course, for swelling, but I keep tearing it because it’s so long. I have long hair which get stuck on it, or with sports I hit it. This hurts ofcourse, and I asked the piercer if there was any possibility to change is for a smaller one, but they said I had to wait for 6-9 months. But I think it’s worse tearing/pulling it than change it to a shorter one… what’s your opinion?
I recently pierced my nose at home and there’s around it it’s just a small one around the piercing and it doesnt hurt but it’s just there is this natural?
My helix piercing got crooked because I did not downsize!!😭😭😭😭😭😭 I was afraid to downsize because my ear use to swell a lot in the healing process. But the piercer did a great job and gave me orientation for the healing process, it was my fault. So guys please downsize when is time!!!
My piercer didn’t tell me a bout the length or gauge of my piercing when I got my piercing wish I new to ask I think they want you to come back to purchase jewelry and they would know your piercing size so don’t bother telling you.
Hi I just got my vertical industrial piercing done (14g & 1 1/2 inch) but each end of the ball are rubbing in to my ear (it’s too small) I wanted to know perhaps whats the next biggest size in length suggested to purchase ? Also is it okay to switch my recent small piercing to the bigger size ?
Also I have a doubt, I want to pierce my lower navel (I already have the upper one) witch sizes of balls should I pick? In the upper one I have 5mm and 8mm in the bottom one should be the same? Or 4mm and 6mm? Thank you
Man It makes me think maybe my belly piercing wasn’t rejecting my skin it was probably sinking coz it was to tight as there was no room for my belly to swell
