Huge thanks for the overwhelming support on this video, it's kind of insane how much it blew up! Don't forget to like and subscribe and I'll give you a high five!
The only person IRL I ever played this game with was my brother. He died in a wreck in 2019 and to this day when I get on this game it almost feels like a part of him is still with me. We played this game for years. I’m 27 now and we started in our preteen years lol. Love RS just wish it was what it used to be.
Been playing since I was 12 and in foster care, gave me the escape I needed. Now i'm 29 and still playing. There's no MMO quite like RuneScape. I legit mowed lawns and actually mailed in my membership since foster parents didn't trust me with their credit card lol.
Yeah seriously. I am total lvl 2073 atm (highest I've ever had, I finally surpassed my rs3 total from before EOC :D), and I've only now started to think about MAYBE maxing one day lol ... Got half the capes and the other stats are 70 & 80+. I don't play that much nowadays, so I'll be glad if I can max in +- 3years (when I hit 30 xd). Not sure if I'll ever do it, because I'm great at starting things and not so much at finishing. However I started rs at 11, and still playing frequently at 27 (with some breaks here and there ofcourse), so I'm keeping my hopes up. Would honestly be sick if I got it one day, but if not, then i'll still be happy with my account's achievements c: And the huge nostalgia is already a win on its own imo. Have a good day!~
@@jag0wnsu man that’s the story of my life, i played the game back in 08, came back to osrs when i grey up which is like in 2015-2016 now I’m 24 years old with a 2053 total level account, and just now i started even considering maxing
Im gonna be lvl 80 smithing after just returning and starting a new character within a month and half 19 lvls away but with double XP all the boost they add for new players I give it another month or 2 maybe but worth it now my money makes itself! 🎉
RuneScape has a special place in my heart. Always will… I’m 30 now, but I played for several years when I was a young teen. 12-16 or so…. Glad to see it’s still around and doing great. This game is truly amazing and so very deep and involved. Good job RuneScape!
After playing this game for years and being deep in a gim (that I just pulled a tbow on ;) ) I showed my now pregnant wife this video after she mentioned being interested in trying it out. Your video has single handedly swayed her to try it out and start an account and I’m setting her up now. Thank you for doing God’s work! You’ve earned my sub!
For me, the game is more time timeless than any other. Even some of my most beloved games don’t look or play how I remember them as a child but RuneScape really is like a time machine to a place of innocence and wonder
OSRS is the only game in the world that can consume hours of my time and not make me feel intense anxiety about wasting it, and I think that's because it genuinely makes me feel like a kid again. No other game has the same sense of intrigue and mystery to me.
thank you for posting this video. this means alot. ima old school player, still to this day. and they keep updating it and i wish my friends would play they just all still watch pvp videos nobody says they have time because were all around the age of 25-35 now so were growing up. but amaizng video bro
117's HD plugin for the game (on runelite) gives it a nice HD face lift for those tired of "potato graphics." it still has the charm with some modernizing.
One thing i love about osrs is the content on each site, on twitch and youtube there is so much content to watch if thats a hour long series or educational content for the game there is everything
Man, I'm 16 and Just recently bought a bond and all I can say is wow, Runescape is the only game I haven't gotten bored of. The quests are pretty well written, the world is vast, and the items are powerful, Its everything you want in an MMO.
I think all the old school graphics are super charming (big eyed goblins) and that if I’d of known about RuneScape when I was WoWing back in the day I’d have been ALL OVER IT ❤️🔥 Another great video Gilgidane! Excited for the next!
I'm telling you right now do not play this game there is a 50/50 chance you'll either find it extremely unappealing and boring or it will consume you for the rest of your life. There is literally no inbetween. You will never quit Runescape if you get properly into it. Maxed btw. Great video though.
Only way to quit is to ask jagex to disable your account and then really focus on doing the stuff you needed/wanted to quit for. You most likely will never come back and even if you do want to come back for a minute, the fact that you'll have to start all over again and lost everything you worked for should be enough of a reminder to why you decide to quit in the first place.
I just got my firecape. I gotta say that the advice you give here is pretty good. It's basically how I have looked at the game. There's always something to work on and 99 in a skill is sometimes just the beginning!
Iv been focusing on myself atm but just logged into my account 99 mage, rng, hp, def, 85 str, att. I was looking at my skills and remembered I was on my goal to get the quest cape 😫. Waiting to get accepted to this coding school. I’ll be playing it again on my free time when I’m done with homework and studying. It will give me that comfort I had when I was playing this game back in 2005 after coming back home from school. Love that this game is still going so strong
I miss this game so much. Thinking back to playing it in 2005-2008 are so many incredible memories where I was so happy and excited to be alive. I so badly want to return to it and relive those memories and experience new ones, but every time I play again, I am so disappointed of what I am presented with. There is no longer any mystery to the game. I miss exploring the world of RuneScape with my friends, learning new training tactics and debating others about what the best training methods are. And then when I moved on to the pking scene, I missed there being tons of different account builds with no one truly understanding what they are doing. I miss taking breaks from training and pking to explore and take part in games like castle wars with friends. Even though the game has grown a lot since 2005 in terms of content that is available, it feels like it has shrunk immensely because most of the content now is dead content. I feel like I can't let go of RuneScape because of the strong impact it has had on my life and I always find myself wanting to return, but every time I do, there is nothing there to keep me playing because the game has so much less to offer me than it once did. I miss RuneScape and am not sure I will ever find anything like it again. It was an incredibly unique experience to have been able to play it in the mid 2000s.
You will never find anything like this. It's not the games that changed so much, it's us. I could use your whole post and swap a few words and it would reflect how I feel about Guild Wars Prophecies. Or how my girlfriend feels about WoW. The awe and mystery is gong. Post Information Society will catalogize everything a game has to offer within a few hours and construct a whole wiki, as seen with New World, which hat the game understood to its bare bones, before it even released. I think it's important to be thankful, that we had the ability to play in the mid 2000s, where everything was different. Those days won't come back. That all said it's still possible to have fun. Just ackknowledge that this part of gaming will never return. Just like you will never see LOTR for the first time. But the thirteenth time is still fun. Or the fiftyth time.
Been playing since classic in 2002. Took multiple breaks along the way but always find my way back to relive the nostalgia. Will probably pass it on to my future children.
Ive been looking all night for which version of runescape to play and so far this is the onlyone that has given me some kind of an answer so might see me in runescape soon.
Remember playing this a lot as a kid in the early 2000s. My brother hogged the computer most of the time, and played it with his mates from school. Remember going to school and asking your friends if they were jumping on runescape tonight. Then you'd get home, do your homework, then jump on. Good times.
ive been playing runescape since late 2001- early 2002. I watched it grow from Classic, with "Classes" before tutorial island came out. Back when you had to sleep in a bed to clear the fatigue so you can get more XP. Back when Woodcutting acted like how Mining does in OSRS. I have played OSRS , and RS3. It has most of my life. It is a piece of me. I will never forget the countless nights of just running barrows back with slayer/magic dart, i remember my first attempt at KBD with full rune, and the anti-dragon shield. I remember back when Castle Wars first was released, and not being able to play it until i was given members for my birthday in 2005. I couldnt recommend a better game.
There's bosses that anyone can kill after a week of playing, not just end game bosses. Also if people are playing that little, they're always gonna be shit.
Vorkath, Muspah, Zulrah, Entry ToA can all be reached in 6 months of playing or earlier depending on how good you are. Sarachnis, Calvarion, Artio, Spindel and Giant mole can be done very early. Obor and Bryophyta are baby bosses for people with 40s stats
Fuuuuuck the old login screen music you had in your intro... It always makes me tear up, completely overwhelmed by a wave of nostalgia, excitement, and a sense of something truly epic that I can not explain. It still brings to be a flashback to the time I was a mere 5 or 6 years old at my grandpa's new PC back in 2005, when his neighbor's kid 4 years older than me, showed me RuneScape. That music made an immediate impression. This was something different. This was no lego Star Wars on gameboy. This was no ordinary browser game off miniclip. This wasn't dad's formula 1 game. I was completely immersed and taken over by RuneScape. It was an entire world where I had the freedom to do what I wanted, when I wanted, where I wanted, and with anyone I wanted. I got my school mates to play the game at first grade, and we would constantly talk about RS, how we would all get lobsters when our mate would get his fishing to 40 today. How we could finally go kill fire giants instead of hill giants and moss giants. We would be the biggest ballers if we got that fabled rune scimitar drop. There was no GE back in those times, so we were rocking our adamant scimitars. We were too poor to afford a Rune Scimitar, and we were afraid of scammers. All those sleepovers where we would stay up into the night, playing RuneScape and planning how we could progress as a group. The GE sort of ruined that for us. Trading was made so easily accessible. There was no longer any reason to plan group progression with friends. Later when we progressed to big boy members worlds a couple years after GE was developed, I had no incentive to grind things such as slayer to get us whips. I had no incentive to grind fishing or cooking to unlock sharks. They were just one click away. no incentive to get that crafting level up to make amulets of glory or later fury. It's in the GE. And we could get all the money we wanted, because the big brother of one of my mates, taught us to do barrows. And we would be millionaires by just spamming barrows runs. Needless to say, after we got ourselves all the cool stuff off the GE, our passion kinda died out. Our talking points at lunch breaks devolved into who got how many million gp off barrows yesterday. We all sort of slowly quit then. However, I have to say that Group IronMan (GIM) really brought this flame of passion back. After over a decade of not playing RS or OSRS actively, it again consumed my life when me and a couple of fellow IT students at university, decided to give GIM a go. After all, we had 5 pals and 3 of us had played thousands of hours of RS as kids and shared a similar story of how we enjoyed it. And man did it reignite our RS addictions. And as a bonus, one of the guys who never touched it before, got so addicted he almost has more hours on the account than I do. We got that feeling back, where one of us spammed hunter early to gather rune weaponry, dragon weaponry, mystic gear, and powerful amulets off implings. I cleared quests ASAP and went into slayer to get us herbs, seeds, ore, bars, and powerful gear. And I am not kidding, I felt so accomplished and proud when I started unlocking things for my friends. First slayer helms, dragon boots, whips, and tridents. I went to good old barrows and got a thousand completions to get us the best early-midgame armor. One of us spammed fishing and cooking to get us the best food. One did all the farming and herblore with all the seeds and herbs we got. It again felt like a well oiled machine. We would talk on discord constantly, sharing our latest drops and unlocks, our plans to advance both our own accounts as well as the group.
I actually started playing OSRS again 2 weeks ago after 7 years away. Mostly wanted to try the ironman mode, particularly HCIM. Still not dead yet, but also still in early game at 1,200 total level. Runescape one of only four games I have over 20,000 hours in. Checked the defense pure I made around 7 years ago that is nearly a 99 maxed defense pure to see that it alone has 8,000 hours not even counting the decade and a half prior of other accounts over the years.
1 thing I'd say to new players, DON'T BE AFRAID TO SPEND ON GEAR!!!! That +5 str bonus or 15 slash boost might not sound a lot and may seem way too overpriced for something that costs 3mil, but It is fucking worth it!! Find a clan, there are a lot of simple chill clans where the people are really nice and they WILL help you out. Honestly if it wasn't for clans I wouldn't be playing, now clans can be cruel and have certain goals you have to hit and if you don't you get kicked, but there are clans for literally just chatting. I recommend joining those ones.
I was addicted to the MMO flyff as a preteen like 15 years ago. I don't have any desire to start a new one ever again, even if it's amazing. But I had to check out what the hell all the people talk about, the video did a good job
I still have my main from original osrs since 2006. Still trying to max in both rs3 and osrs. It's a true sandbox, and you can play it as casually or as seriously as you want. There's no right or wrong way to play, to each his own. Farming is super chill and relaxing, herb runs! 🌿
@@Peglegkickboxer They are saying they are playing their original account on RS3 and started a new account on OSRS like the rest of us. Their original osrs main is referring to their original RS2 account (now on RS3 or "Runescape")
One awesome part is; My account is 16 years old, yet I've only played 480 hours. I played when I was younger, took an 8 year break, played for a little while, quit for another 4 years and so on. You never fully quit the game. Also; Just after watching this video, I downloaded the game again, picked up my stuff and headed right to taverly dungeon to grind a little bit of ranged XP. Sometimes I stick around afterwards, sometimes I leave the game be for another period of time. There's something about it that just grabs me for a short while until I get on with my life again. Though that's just the case for me, a friend of mine, who started at the same time, never stopped and still has stuff to do. I will play Runescape for as long as it will exist, that's for sure.
Can't lie, runescape was peak back in 2007 and 2006. So many fond memories of it years ago, but when osrs came out I played it for around 2 years. and almost maxed but got burned out and quit. Haven't bothered going back, but its a fun game to play and more so watch now a days.
Started playing xmas 2020, great game. Just got max cape at around 5700 hours, now most of stuff left to do is my favorite, fighting bosses :) less go gimme the loot
@@Gilgidane refute it then? Explain the 2 year rmt price drop followed by a massive economic crash of most items, why is every skilling resource going for the same or less than high alch value?
im trying to get into this game rn, a biiit too late to the party but i cant wait till my exams are finished, i made an acc and chilled in tutorial iland and i cant wait to interact with the outer world, the game looks absolutely phenomenal
Playing for just over 18 years. Lost my main to RS3 so I started again. Lvl 3 skiller just plodding along at my own pace. Great intro video to the game 👍
after personally learning the game on ironman I would highly recommend this. I think if I had access to Grand Exchange early on, I would have simply resorted to buying a lot of quest items and not experienced even a fraction of what the game has to offer early-mid game. Also you always have the option to turn your ironman account into a Main account (one way) if you feel like the game is too grindy for you and then you can experience the Main account anyway.
been playing for almost 18 years now, my mom still has my drawings of items i made with my buddies back in the day, the games has been running for 20+ years for a reason, it's amazing. 10/10 would recommend ( might loose gf if u get too deep )
Tbh I'd be amazed if this will nudge anyone into the addiction that is RuneScape, but it's a solid try, let us hope it works. I've tried to get friends into OSRS for years without any luck, even though I know that they will love it
Maybe they could keep people around if they didnt fucking balance the game around iron men and have every item be worth its high alch price because doing 1 boss drops all the mats youll ever need for skilling
My goal has always been a QP cape. I originally got one on RS3 but eventually lost it when some newer quests came out (because the boss fight was bullshit) and now I'm pretty close on OSRS. Just a few big quests to go.
i have roughly 350 hours in the game i started playing a couple months ago. i really like the game but all my friends that try to get into the game quit as soon as they realize it takes like 1000 hours (probably an over exaggeration) before they can start doing these end game bosses that look really fun, i personally havent done any yet myself but i am really looking forward to doing them. My least favorite part of the game is the quests, ik they are really good in this game and quest helper makes it really easy but i just hate quests in general, I wish i didnt have to do things like monkey madness, rfd, dragonslayer etc to be able to partake in these end game bosses, but i do see why it is necessary.
i mean 1000+ is not exaggerated maybe even more but the fun of osrs isnt the engame content i mean yeah its really fun but thats not the point its the way to the engame content the journey you could say as corny as it sounds but its true
I am going to download and start again I think, I have not played this game since about 2007, I remember being quite a high level however I no longer have the email address that I used back then so I will have to start again which is probably best any way as I can not remember anything about it really other than killing chickens for feathers, I just wonder what the community is like in 2023, I remember back in the day going to the grand exchange and people saying they would double money for you but they would just take your coin and leave, now there is literally scammers everywhere even Facebook and what not so I just hope the community isn't toxic, this game was when I first heard the term "noob", I will be downloading this game and starting again I just hope it is as wonderful as I remember.
Just tried to get back into my account after not playing for a few months and can’t get back in because of the authenticator they added. Don’t have access to that old email. Pretty upset was only 3 skills away from maxed but pondering a fresh account cause all time one of my favorite games.
18 years and going here. this game has saved my life as i deal with multiple psych disorders and this game is amazing for coping and giving a way to occupy time.
@@Turbo-DF I'm not 18. I got my psych issues from a traumatic brain injury I received on active duty in 2012. so try again to be edgy if it will fix your self esteem. 18 years and going is my time playing this game as i like most, discovered it as a child and took off and on breaks and got back into it.
Listen this game is amazing, if you buy the membership. In all reality I’d buy the 60$ 1 year version. Also I play RuneScape 3 instead of old school. But it’s almost the same, the quests on this game in my opinion really make it, you can unlock bosses, new places around the map, teleports, there summoning if you’re into anime, there’s so much more to unlock then even that. Osrs is great but it has less skills than RuneScape 3, less customization, there’s a event passes where killing or skilling will earn you items, daily items that help out a lot. Total different grand exchange too, I’ve been playing RuneScape in general for 6 years and am in love with it.
Played about 17 years now. Reason I still play because it bring back memories of my childhood when getting off from school just to play and staying up all night on the weekend. Now I’m grown with a beautiful wife and two kids 😂
