I've tried taking the B string down to B flat for open G minor. I also play in open D minor a lot. I find sad music more interesting and after 73 years on this planet I got a lot of blues.

Brother, you need to be doing Trojan endorsements along with the Elixirs. I mean, have you already? I can see it so clearly, it is like a memory and not just an idea. You've got your Martin humming, the Elixirs, both bright and rich, are working their magik up and down her chakras, making them spin, the lights are down with a couple well placed accent lights, a couple glasses of wine, one with lipstick on it... Your precious gem eyes glint as you resolve from the 7th to the root, and throatily sing her name with just a touch of wanting vulnerability. The Hoover damn is blasted open, and everybody knows, "It's Trojan Time!"

I hear lots of Led Zeppelin sound in this, especially that 5th-7th fret area. Thanks Sean!

DOBRO/lapsteel open G is GBDgbd. whyis it? different?

Just started fooling around with an Open G. What a fun tuning. Throw in a slide, if you feel like it, and you're off to the races. Still a lot to learn about the Open G but, now I know why Keef Richards just eliminates the 6th string altogether...it just gets in the way. Note: I've been using Elixir strings for years, but I go with the 11-52. As BB King says, "why do you want to work so hard"? Cheers.

How do you feel about city and colour/Dallas green? He uses a lot of open tunings in his earlier stuff

Pearl Jam used open G in their song "Daughter." But,instead of tuning the low E down to D, they, believe it or not, tuned the E up to a G note.

Do these Open tunings make scale shapes different or more difficult ? 😮
