Why you never see enemies | Squad Guide 

Ok, true sleeper tip: DON'T scan from left to right Scan from right to left Try it out! When scanning left to right, we start analysing visual input like we would when reading text - In a pretty fluid motion. Our brain is used to that and tends to skip the the minimal details. It's why we sometimes overread spelling errors or double words, like the double "the" in the last sentence If you scan from right to left, it will feel sloppier. That's good. It's kind of like using another neural route to interpret visual input. Helps you to spot more and skip less

Movement is mentioned but it's importance cannot be overstated. The human brain is evolved to notice movement. If you are trying to move somewhere in Squad, it can be very beneficial to move in short rushes from cover to cover. Hide in cover motionless until your stamina is full, all the while scanning for enemies. Then once your stamina is full and no enemies are in sight, quickly dash to a new position with cover, crouch or go prone and scan again while regaining stamina for the next rush. This is much more effective than just holding shift and charging towards the objective. Even better is if you can coordinate movement with allies such that someone is always covering while other elements are moving. Then even if you are shot at while moving, your allies are ready to fire back with accuracy while you dive prone behind any available cover. It's worth mentioning also that your movement speed is much faster if your stamina is full, either when walking or sprinting. Walking with full stamina is only a hair slower than sprinting while exhausted. Additionally your weapon sway is greatly reduced when your stamina is high. If you are advancing to contact or in an active firefight, keeping your stamina high is critical.

Pro tip: use alt to look around, your character will only move their head around, instead of the whole body.

fun fact it's always going to be easier to learn what your team looks like, they are right there for you to stare at for the whole prep faze. look at your team look at your vehicles. now you no what NOT to shoot so if it doesn't look like a friend it's an enemy

Something you'll find as an old wisdom in infantry manuals is looking right to left and bottom to top tends to help you spot easier as we are used to reading left to right and top to bottom. It shakes it up and helps the brain pay attention.

Another tip is to use the binoculars in the kits without an ACOG type site. Binoculars are the best optics in the game, other than the vehicle ones. You have a MASSIVE unrestricted field of view. You can genuinely spot alot more people than with a regular acog.

i want to note that the three spotting techniques aren't orthodoxy, but rather a framework for you to build your spotting skills on top of. there will probably be situations where none of the techniques fit into perfectly, or situations where a mix of the techniques is best. anyway, thanks for watching and all the support.

I’ve played squad long enough to be able to recognize various sounds of vehicles and gunshots from different factions, also in terms of binoculars I always take kits that have them (which is why I rarely use kits with optics or scopes that get rid of binoculars), they are extremely helpful at finding enemies far away that you can’t see.

Haven't watched the video but btw, for anyone who plays on 1080p and similar resolutions, for some reason 100% Resolution Scale is not enough, so to help spot people in the distance better, turn it up to 105%. Whole different world after learning this trick, even on low settings.

Hearing what the enemy's guns sound like is good for all except for militia. They have guns from most factions

I seriously cannot stress enough the usage of the map, You cannot find your enemy if you don't know where to look. knowing the general state of your surroundings makes looking for enemies exponentially easier, and the map is by far the best tool to figure out what is going on around you. The places you know not to worry about are places you dont need to spend energy scanning for enemies, which means more energy towards scanning areas that actually do.

After playing the game for a few hundred hours, i can safely say, this game is just a boring mess if you want to play longer than 1 match at a time I understand its just a different game compared to your normal shooter, but hell, i cant imagine there are people actually doing more than 1 match a day of this when 90% of the time your deaths come from the most retarded of angles

binoculars is the most OP spotting tool... i do kill more in iron sights than when using scopes... even from far... because binoculars are the true sauron eye

the best way to see the enemy is to make sure you're hidden in cover and concealed yourself thus allowing you to take your time to look for muzzle flashes, check your map and hear their gun fire.

Stay 10> meters away from your team when advancing, otherwise the enemy grenadier/AT will wipe the entire group with 1 shot

When you are moving you are easy to spot and have a hard time spotting. When you are still you are hard to spot and have an easy time spotting.

Tip that I use all the time, if you are listening to gunshots or anything rotate your character in order to piece together their general direction more accurately.

My strat is basically I look on the map if there are friends at front. If none, any movements is immediately enemy

I just like to take out binos as a rifleman and spot for my team and adjust their fire because I can see fuck all far away.

I mean it still doesn’t explain the fact how I’ll be far from anyone, anything, and some how, someway I’m spotted after crawling hundreds of meters. As if these people play with ZERO grass/shrubs/trees. I have a damn good PC and have qualities maxed. Can’t ever see random guys from 300m away through tons of brush.

I think a video that needs to be made is all gunshots but as they are heard from a distance, this will allow newer players to catch their bearing real quick if they know what to listen for.

Something I noticed once I first started out is the more I played the betters my eyes adjusted to seeing people hiding and or seeing things and people far away

Strongly advice against doing steady 180° sweeps while scanning an area. As the video mentions humans can pick up motion very well. if you want to scan a big area, hold your vision perfectly still and move your view very fast to the next area untill you covered everything with a bunch of still images of your sorrounding. On top of the human visual perception most game engines (and displays) will blur the image in one way or the other if you move your view, you get a cleaner and crisper frame if you hold still.

People complaining about hackers are coping. Pure skill issue, go practice some more. No the enemy team doesn't have a hacker, you're just bad sorry.

I dropped this game and I'm so happy I dont have to deal with rеtarded teammates anymore. Got team killed almost every match

This game sucks ass. I tried playing this weekend and can never see any enemies. I get shot and killed from who knows where. You can't even see the objectives on your map. You never have a clue where you're supposed to go, your character runs insanely slow and if you do happen to find an objective, it's literally 10 minutes of running to get there only for you to be 1 shot from a mile away by an invisible enemy. You can't even tell the difference between a teammate and an enemy. You think you see an enemy, you shoot the enemy then all of a sudden it says you team killed..... Every aspect of this game is tedious and not fun. Why are objectives not clearly marked on the map like in literally every other FPS ever made. Why can't I see where my team is at all times so I don't keep killing them because they look IDENTICAL to the enemy? Especially from far away. I see why this game gets flooded with negative reviews every time they do a free to play weekend. The game is simply not fun. It's way too hardcore for 99% of people. Even in real life I can tell the difference between people even from long distances. In this game the screen is so blurry that you can't even see enemies most of the time and when you do see someone, you can't tell what team they are on. TLDR: you spend all your time running around trying to find an objective only to be killed by invisible enemies from 3 miles away that you can never see. Also you will kill your team way more than the actual enemy because there's literally zero way to tell an enemy from a team member when looking at them.
