I'm still hoping for Xenosaga, but so glad we're getting this. Even if for no other reason than just being able to preserve this game beyond the Wii U.
@@houragents5490What on earth are you talking about? There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way the original post used the word “preserve”. It is a rule of life that older things deteriorate sooner than newer things, the Wii U is older than the Switch and visa versa, and that is to say nothing of the fact of the greater install base of the Switch which means larger numbers of this new version of Xenoblade Chronicles X will probably be manufactured compared to the original version, so this re-release will undoubtedly help to preserve this game for longer in time than if there were no re-release. There is literally nothing in the OP which suggests they are doing something as silly as chasing likes by using a buzzword. I can’t begin to imagine why you would choose to target them for criticism with such an obviously harmless and truthful comment. But hey, to each their own. I’ll just echo the OP’s happiness that this game will be better preserved now. Such an awesome surprising announcement.
@@houragents5490 since when is preserve a buzzword? But I guess with the education system the way it is preserve must seem like a cool new word that you just learned Such an asinine comment
I played Xenoblade X so much. The game got such a raw deal at release from people who never gave it a chance but I'm so glad I did. Exploration in that game is an absolute blast. I didn't even grab my Skell until 100 hours in and I played the game for almost 500 hours total. It truly was worth the wait. Traversing on foot for so long made getting the Skell all the more magical and flight even more so but the other thing is that traveling on foot is still fun in this world! You run fast, jump high, and have no fall damage. I think what stuck with me the most from X that I really appreciated were the sidequests. There are actual consequences to many of them depending on how you complete them and they can deal with some heavy things, from suicide to terrorism. This isn't your typical RPG world about going on the journey to beat the big evil in the far off castle. The evil already came. Humanity already lost. Everyone is just doing their best to make a new existence on this strange and dangerous world and it is difficult, both technically and mentally. So what I'm trying to get at is that while X doesn't have the same presentation of story that the other Xenoblade stories have, what it delivers feels to me to be much more relatable, more human, and more powerful because of how it gets you the think about life and existence. Please don't skip out on this game. Also: Bring on the dorky music! BRING ALL THE DORK. NO SHAME! You know you love it ;)
I love you for this comment. This is my favorite game of all time. I think my playtime was more like skell at 30 hours, finish game at 300 hrs. But I like yours better because it was actually a bummer to not explore the last two continents on foot first! This game was probably the first time I realized reviewers were a bunch of idiots and I haven't been able to unsee it ever since then.
Sorry, brother. I love you but I got you beat in the excitement lol. I played it when it came out in 2015 and although I did have my issues with it like the music and ok battle system (two things you had a small issue with too) I loved this game. I remember letting my son fly around on my Skell when he was two years old. It was the first time he tried complex controls. I showed it to him and he said he remembers “flying a robot” lol. He is going to be 12 in December so that made me feel old. I’m rambling now lol. I love this game and have always wanted more because it has more story to tell and I hope they make more or at least give us some answers in this Definitive Edition. We’re both excited, Brandon, but I know we’re not the only ones and I can’t wait for more people to experience this gem. It’s not perfect and has its flaws but damn I enjoyed it and I can’t wait to play it again in 2025 … a whole decade after I first played it
This sounds outrageously cool. I'm not really a Xeno fan because I play games on PC, and it's not available on my platform of choice, but I'm insanely happy that this announcement has brought joy to so many people.
When I got Xenoblade X on launch day, I played 78 hours in 11 consecutive days. I averaged over 7 hours of play per day while I was in college during finals week. I also aced my tests so that was an insane time of my life lol.
No cap, best open world game of all time. I spent THOUSANDS of hours of me just doing parkour, mountain goating and trying to climb gargantuan structures and mountains on foot and even in 2024 people like me are still managing to reach impossible places on foot for the very first time, 10 years after the game launched. Combat is indeed broken but the more you learn the more you can bend it to your tastes. I personally like to customize combat to have 0 cooldowns on everything but still maintain a solid challenge and chance to lose. Very exciting stuff. What I really hope for this Definitive Edition is that they add Expert Mode to tweak our levels, don't censor the boob slider and of course whatever crazy connection Takahashi will deliver to Xenosaga, the other Xenoblades and Xenogears. See you all BLADE operatives online, let's farm Reward Tickets together!
Refreshing my YT page yesterday, I saw the vignette, and clicked with some doubt on it. A few seconds later, when it was clear it was not a fake, I was literally screaming and jumping around, my kids came up thinking something bad happened. I can't even express how happy I am. finally time to unplug my WiiU, the Switch is officially the most precious console of all time for me.
I was in utter shock when the trailer just dropped out of nowhere. I absolutely *loved* playing it when it released, and I'm super excited for the additional story content
I'd be hyped if I didn't just get done revisiting this game last October 😅 I just hope if there's a new story arc added in that we can access it without having to play through the entire game again.
Man, I don't even know what to say as a JRPG fan. I was never into the genre as a kid in the 90s and only recently started getting into them over the past decade and especially in the past 5 years. I cannot believe how many franchises are firing on all cylinders and we have gotten so many great titles and announcements just this year alone. From Trails to Ys to Suikoden to Dragon Quest to Xenoblade to anything ATLUS does, it's just a non-stop assault of great JRPGs and I'm here for it! Okay, I'm done rambling on, it's just a great time to be a gamer and JRPG fan! Another great video, man!
The thing I always say about the main story in X is that it’s a little short on content but what’s there is probably my favorite out of all the Blade games easily. I have no clue why people say X’s story sucks. Also, as and old school fan, I very much appreciate the much more overt sci-fi aesthetics.
I completely agree with you on the Skells and the idea of them being worth the wait, and I think their implementation as it is completely elevates the experience. You start out on foot. You’re this teeny tiny human, and grouped enemies (and tons of single ones) can be very dangerous. And your jump is high and floaty and you don’t move particularly slowly when running, but you are definitely limited in exploration. Then you get your Skell license, and your speed and jump height changes SO much. It’s not a crazy power spike in battle, but it definitely shakes things up, and you can easily access so many areas you previously couldn’t. Either way, the movement is just a great improvement. And then you get your flight license and you are just completely unfettered.
There's just something satisfying about how the skells drive and fly that you just don't get in many other mech games. Let alone ones with open worlds for you to explore. Easily one of the things I've missed the most about Xenoblade X. Can't wait to dive back into Mira next year!
I replayed Xenoblade Chronicles X just before Xenoblade 3 as a full xeno series retrospective for myself (gears, saga and blade) and I was surprised with how much the story telling and world building was on a level I hadnt seen in many other games. It truly is an amazing game that I hope a lot of new fans get to experience.
@@joepeezy4sheezyno its gorgeous if it was more standard modern town music it would not be nearly as iconic like if thr vocal themes elsewhere where not so cheesy i would care much less Cheese is the dream for the artist in other mecha projects
14:13 A solution to the music since each area has it's own music that triggers, have the intended music trigger first, then give the player the option to change the music. same goes for flying, basic combat, overdive, and tyrant encounters. Ideal world, we can make a playlist with all the music from among the xenoblade series.
Oh I certainly have you beat for excitement. I love all the same things you mentioned about the game, but I ALSO think it has both the best combat in the series (and one of my favourite combat systems of all time) and the best music in the series (dorky... or absolutely amazing? I think you know the real answer, here). I practically spat out my breakfast when I saw the announcement trailer pop up on youtube this morning. I just did a 2nd playthru of this last year, but you're crazy if you think I'm not going back for round 3 in March.
From that huge Nintendo data dump a few years ago we learned that XCX was originally going to be like XC1. Fully voiced MC, deep in depth story and so on. But Nintendo stepped in and wanted to get in on the MMO crazy like WoW, FF14 and especially PSO2 that was dominating Japan at the time. As disappointed as some fans were, the lessons learned from XCX would go on to be the core of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
Nintendo has made rather questionable decisions in the past however this one wasn't and it turned out to be for the best. Why in the world would you want to play as another Fei, Shion, or Shulk when you can simply create what you like instead
Similar to my experience. I saw bits of the XCX direct and caught some reviews (having only played the Xenosaga series), then a year later finally was like "Maybe I'll check out what Xenoblade is." I knew it was "story light" and had also seen a bunch of (maybe the same) reviews complaining about how long it took you to unlock flying............ But when I went into it, I wasn't even that concerned because the first stage of SKELL unlocks was early enough and already a big game changer. I was also very engrossed in the world and its mysteries and the cast of different characters and groups/factions. Sure, it never went full narrative magnifying lens on each story beat like a more traditional JRPG, but it also wasn't just the usual obligatory background MMO stuff. I was fully invested! Really looking forward to getting back into it.
Thanks Branden! Many years ago when I was in school, one of my classmates presented this as her favorite game. Of the 20-ish presentations, it stood out to me the most. More recently, Britta has done a few videos on it, which renewed my interest. Never had a Wii-U, so *really* excited to see it coming to Switch!
I think I'm weird coz I actually loved the music. Everyone was saying the rap in the battle music was cringe and I was just like singing along with "Stuck on a WHOOOLe different PLAAAANET!" But seriously such an amazing game, I'm absolutely going to double dip. It's funny I remember a lot of people at the time didn't like it very much, it got kind of middling reviews if I recall
You're not wierd the music kicked ass and still does! Sawano gave the game attitude and grit which is something every xeno game before and since has completely lacked
Sadly i never played the original. I came to this series because a friend of mine told me about it and that was around Torna DLC Release. Xenoblade Chronicles catched me in an instant. I love this series so much that I really am excited to experience the one thing missing so far
Why you said your opinion? You're right. This is EVERYTHING!! I got the switch waiting for that game for years. But I'll get the switch 2 with this game.
so excited, too! I only had Nintendo small portable consoles and switch, so I never had a chance to play Xenoblade Chronicles X. I'm 100% certain that Monolith soft made a good port 🔥 still praying for Xenogears and Saga 🙏
Sorry but they're both still trapped in the Zohar modifier known as Square Enix and Namco Bandai. Maybe they'll eventually get reincarnated into a different game sometime in the next 10,000 years or maybe just maybe, they already have 🤪
I never had the chance to get a WiiU back then, this was the one game I wanted it for. So, I'm incredibly hyped to play it finally! Really hope we get a special edition Xenoblade switch along with it.
This game is on a very short list of games I kept my Wii U for. I'm beyond hyped for this BUT I'll wait to see if this ends up being a launch title for Switch 2.
I think I put in well over 1000 hours into X, I loved it and is my personal favourite in the series. I think when it came out it had one of the biggest open world of this type of game and was just a joy to explore on foot or later on when your flying these very hefty feeling mech suits. The story does get a bit JRPG paint by numbers but is kind of underrated as well. I disagree about the Combat being a step down from 2. It's different and more strategic in many ways, and it was always fun going into the cockpit of your mech during a fight with a world boss. The only thing I didn't like and I hope they tweak in the remaster is the gathering Missions... sometimes it didn't tell you where you had to go to get things so was a guessing game or pot luck. Other than that, I can't wait to get back into it.
I hope they’re gonna fix the - text font and sizing - the poor menu - make it sooner to get a damn mech - the terrible tutorial - add more shops - finish the story - improve the map system - improve the mining system - add more cities/towns - Stop forcing players to do side quests to progress the plot - bring back the bust meter - fix the poor inventory management system - make every item purchasable in-game and not by a stupid 0.05% drop from enemies - Ability to customize stats in some balanced and fair way that doesn't involve a 0.001% chance of dropping from enemies - expand on all the lore and the species like L'cirufe and the Nopon and the Manon and the J-Bodies...DON'T FORGET THE J-BODIES
Im excited. Held onto to my wiiU collector's edition for the longest time because i been waiting for it to come to switch. I can finally sell my wiiU now 🙌
Bro, imagine that I like the music, and other things, I'm from Russia, I understand but not too much care about what they singing 🤣 Definitely agree that it is the most beautiful openworld game ♥️ 🙏👍 flying around on skills exploring Mira is amazing experience
I got home from work yesterday and my girlfriend said "what's xenoblade chronicles definitive edition" about. I said the games amazing, I've got it up there on the shelf. She asked how I've already got it as it's not out until march. Confused for a minute, the penny dropped. My actual reaction was "the fuck they did" and sure enough, there she was. The greatest game to have ever been made, remade 😂
Well said for the most part but I really disagree with you on your review about the music in this game. There are a couple of songs with "dorky" lyrics like black tar (battle theme) and some bad phonetically/grammatical German ones, however melodically the OSTs are bangers. Also the "dorkiness" feels like a community meme , an ingame inside joke and subjectively can be considered as a nice touch to the heavy plot. There are over 50 tracks that fit perfectly with the atmospheric tones and the cinematography. The music of this game is one of the strongest selling points. Hiroyuki Sawano the composer is arguably considered the best Anime soundtrack creator/director in the industry currently. Personally Ive been playing countless jrpgs for over two decades and I rank XCX music wise to my top 10.
About that mech thing. My last replay of this game was a few years ago now so I might be misremembering, but I believe there is a point at which you CAN unlock the mech, and then a later point where you HAVE TO unlock the mech to continue. So I'd guess those reviewers just didn't unlock it until they actually had to to finish the story? You're able to unlock the skell once you beat chapter 6 which is around 50% through the story, but you only NEED to have it unlocked for chapter 12. So potentially those reviewers didn't realize they could unlock the skell yet, or just didn't want to bother with the sidequest yet until they absolutely had to?
I'm super excited. I loved Xenoblade 1,2,3 and this one looks like a great game as well. Im a bit sad its on the switch because i wont be getting the new one. But maybe. This game looks great. thanks!
I actually wish the battle system would go back to this game’s style. X is so fast-paced! The slow auto-attack to build up your arts style of 2 turned me off. Especially with all the drawn out special attack cutscenes. You can actually sprint and jump mid-battle in X to gain a position advantage and immediately use your arts. It’s so satisfying dashing under a giant alien’s legs to deliver a back attack on them.
In 2024 I' m very sceptical because the US World has changed a lot, what makes me worried about Games Remakes and so on. I expect more Changes than only grafic and sound and improvements. I wish the game all the sucess for the Game because I liked XC 1, XC 2 and XC 3. I m a big fan of the britsh VA but there won't be so much of them in XC x heard.
You get the skell at around 30 hours of a reasonably 200 hr game. Those people can kick rocks. The game is no where close to being over. I can't stand reviewers who discuss game time when they only do story mission after story mission as if that's the way the game was intended to be played.
I'm torn on if I will be buying it. I played and really liked it on the Wii U. But I don't have enough time in my life to replay a big open world JRPG again. My backlog is big enough as it is. If I could just start at the post credits stuff and continue from there without having to play through the main game again, then I could be convinced. And if the switch version gave you the option to turn off the horrible lyrics in the music, that would be another point in its favor. Whoever thought rapping in a battle theme was a good idea, was clearly out of their mind.
What we want to see Updated 1: Boob slider uncensored well uncensored gameplay from the original Japanese version. 2: Better online mode with more exploration harder missions and larger exploration of maps' for online mode 3: Better inventory clutter fix, with previews of equipment on obtaining them, and previews in the menu of each item. 4: Maybe a multi-player to explore your own world with friends in split screen and or online. 5: Let me choose to turn off the flight music. 6: When flying around in your mech, another key to turn into a Jet plane Mech to fast speed past map areas or escape from an op enemy. 7: Let us bring the Jump skill back. ---------------------------------------- I ranked over 30,000 hours in this game. I wonder how long the online mode in this game is now, or will they shutdown the servers like they did on the wii-U? Side note my character you might recognise is called Nirvana I was online 24/7 nearly since the wii-U's American release lol. Hopefully they give us new mechs and a lot of them, and more customization perhaps some download content to give us mechs like in Xenogears with cool weapons and unique abilities that are op lol I'd like to fly around with Xenogears from well Xenogears lol Lau in the game might mean he can bring his black mech to help the team lol. Also you know there's going to be a Xenoblade Chronicles X-2 if this game does well on the switch, and it will come out on the switch 2 guaranteed. Wonder when it will be on physical pre-order? Oh don't worry m8 they can connect all the characters like they did in the games, via the dimension rift, and yes this is my fav game of all time probably. I spent the longest on it than any other game in the world, the main story was weak and quick, but the exploration and missions were so good it made up for it. What do you think? What would you like to see updated or changed?
Enjoyed the game but hope the fix a lot with it. They did that awkward cutscene thing were the characters are too far away from the shot. The first assassin’s creed did the same thing.
or don't because Nintendo is willing to literally kill the entire gaming indastry as a whole JUST to get rid of some competition and monopolize pokemon
im never hyped for xenoblade games on switch. it's just too underpowered. i played 1 DE and XB2 in handheld mode and my god the graphics are horrendous. it looked like i was playing in ultra low settings at 360p which is laughable considering it's a switch exclusive you would think they would've optimzed the game to run at 720p 60 fps. what a joke.
I really hated Xenoblade Chronicles X - another directionless open world game. I loved all other Xenoblade games but HATED X. I guess if you like games like BOTW ( I got bored by it quickly..), then you may like it. I really felt cheated out of my money with this one - it's directionless and parts are really too hard. If you like slamming your hand in a car door over and over you might like it. Oh and alway love your videos even if I don't always agree.
I like it better than 2. I know I’m on an island by myself with that take. The exploration is great but I get it. It’s completely different than the other games. It originally was being made to be a MMO. You can see it because the story does feel like it was just slapped in
my first ever xenoblade game, didn't know what to expect. Tbh I didn't enjoy it lol. Character Creator was extremely limited, melee combat lacked omph when attacks connected with enemies. High LV enemies in beginning sections to be one shotted by, now I know is a xenoblade rite of passage for newbies haha. The story felt incomplete in a lot of places especially the ending oof. did like it's full one zone open world and mech combat tho. Willing to give it 2nd try with all these QoL features and new content added.
