hey hey i liked it! ignore mr doorknob because this was wonderfully made. your insight is fantastic. i’ve never heard someone phrase this technique in such a way. so much food for thought that i’m full now! also the reverb part was quite humorous. i got recommended this after listening to a bunch of olivia rodrigo related content, the thumbnail is a smart way to lure viewers in. this made me even more interested in how producing works and inspired to workshop with one some day.
thanks for all the kind words! I chose Olivia not as clickbait, but because I think she's (and her producer Dan) are great example of creating an original sound by looking back at older music and turning it into something new and fresh. Thanks for watching :)
100% I used to frown upon using 'samples' (not realising my favourite group/artist 'The Prodigy'/'Liam Howlett' as predominantly sample based). DJing too.... pretty f'ing simple I found. But at some point I bought Traktor and soon understood the benefits 'DJing' had for 'DAW mixing', particularly the usage of effects for transitioning and more importantly (for me at least), taking a more 'macro' viewpoint of song composition. Everything we learn comes from our imitating. No shame now. :D
