I got mine in 2022, but taking long notes in this little thing using freeform and good notes causes lag, glitch when using apple pencil 2, faster battery drain, and the iPad mini heats up pretty fast to the point I need to let it rest for a while. So far that is the annoying issue, all other aspects are great
Oddly i went the other way around, have a 2020 iPad Pro and bought the mini but after a few weeks struggling with the screen i sold it. Still got the pro but mostly use m2 MacBook Air as its lighter than my iPad Pro plus keyboard and more powerful, still cant be without my ipad though but not sure i will replace the iPad Pro 12.9 anytime soon apple will need to pull some features out the bag for me to upgrade the iPad
Absolutely YES. I too use it daily, for content consumption (video streaming, book reading, my favorite solitaire game) all around the house, and especially like its toiletability. 😁
Thanks PATRICK 👍 Completely agree with you I ve the IPAD PRO 12,9 (2018) Never planed to buy a mini And last year , bought the MINI 6 I use it each day, everywhere (bed, toilets, sofa, for business, games, book…) In fact I use my pro 3-4 times per month and my MINI 31.days / 31 and several times per day
I've always loved the mini over the other big iPads and was so relived when they announced an update version, I really thought apple was just going to discontinue it like so many other devices. I love to use it especially for media consumption, if I need to watch a video on RU-vid or watch a movie or something I rarely reach for my MacBook anymore.
I had never considered the iPad mini before this video and just looked at a comparison between the mini and the iPad Air. I was surprised to discover that the iPad mini is just as powerful as the iPad Air, even as your video indicated as well. This is definitely a likely option for me now, to buy the iPad mini.
I am thrilled with this review as I’ve been a iPad mini fan for the last few years. I was waiting for this new upgrade from the four because the six is so much faster. I take it with me everywhere and so happy that this review has brought exposure to this community. I recently acquired an iPad generation nine when my father passed away. It is so big and so bulky I just set it to the side. It does have a pencil with it and that one is not compatible with my six so I may be getting a pencil for my mini six. Time will tell anyway, thanks for the review Greatly appreciate it.
I’ve had the mini iPad for years. I have the 6 now. My main reason for purchasing each new version is that it’s so portable. It fits perfectly in my purse, it doesn’t make my hands/wrists tired and it’s easier to see than my phone.
Mini is by far the best iPad. If you have only need a tablet and not a second computer it’s the one to go with. It’s perfect for note taking with the pencil, watching RU-vid, and honestly, if you need a larger horizontal canvas for note taking, just turn it to the side and it’s as long as the iPad Air is wide.
My first ipad is this mini 6 and just got it last month. I'am an illustrator with small hands, I usually draw with my laptop and mini huion tablet. But with this ipad mini I can sketch idea anywhere and it's so compact and cute too! I hope it's live a long life 🩷
Writing this from my iPad Mini 6! I use it more than my iPhone 14 Pro and M1 MacBook Air. I love it! Got it last year and was influenced by your videos. Worth every penny and with the sales going on now, people should definitely consider it. Curious to see what the iPad Mini 7 will be. Lastly, I would love to see your video of your use of the iPad Mini 6 on your travels!
I bought the first iPad Mini when it came out, and totally loved it. I’m now using the Mini 5 and it’s my everything machine and goes everywhere with me. The size is about the dimensions of a book, except thinner than most. So it’s the perfect size for me - I’ve never even considered the bigger iPad models. My only complaints are with iOS, not the Mini, and maybe someday Apple will get iOS as perfect as the Mini already is
The mini is my soulmate device, and it’s become my daily driver…it does EVERYTHING I need! I’ve had the mini 2, 4, and now the 6. It’s got enough RAM, memory, and processing power to make it future-proof for a while. 💕
Size and media consumption is the main reason I went from the 10” iPad Pro to the mini. Speakers aren’t as loud but are plenty good for watching movies. I would just like to see a higher refresh screen in the next refresh. At this point no premium device shouldn’t have one. Maybe a more robust storage selection. But other than that it’s got all I need. Plus it goes with me to work daily and still runs great.
I, for one, love my 12.9 iPad Pro… I do most things with it. BUT….. I also got the iPad mini 6… and the reason was purely for navigation purposes. I worked as an Amazon flex delivery driver and wanted to be able to use navigation and listen to music with RU-vid. iPhone doesn’t allow multitasking… and my iPad Pro was just too large to mount anywhere in my car. I didn’t want to do anything drastic like cutting into my dash… so after 2 weeks I finally decided that getting the iPad mini was the way to go. Now it’s also the ipad i take with me to go grocery shopping and to restaurants. I love both of these devices and really wish I could turn my iPad mini 6 into a phone.
The iPad mini is my favorite iPad currently. Out of the entire lineup, the iPad mini is the best value alongside the iPad (9th generation). Even though the iPad Air and iPad Pro have more powerful specs, I can’t justify spending the extra money due to iPadOS. As for the next iPad mini, I think we may see a refresh in early 2024.
I’ve had my iPad Mini 6 for four weeks now and I absolutely love it. I bought a refurbished 64gb, non 5g model. I’m using it for some note taking and, using Pages, for producing a weekly e-newsletter for my local community. Like you, I bought PaperLike and the Apple case. Started off with a clone Apple Pencil but now have a real Apple Pencil, brand new for £70 - couldn’t resist it at that (half UK) price.
@@PatrickRambles Hello Patrick. Re my iPad mini 6/Apple Pencil 2, I have no double tap settings for Apple Pencil 2 in settings and no Apple Pencil settings within the Accessibility settings. Can you confirm this is the case on your iPad mini 6. I’ve taken this up with apple. They started a case, I sent them screen shots but they are not now replying. An engineer was supposed to get back to me some two weeks ago. Is it simply the case that the double tap function isn’t available on the iPad mini 6? Many thanks.
Even though I have the 11 inch M1 iPad Pro, my son kept telling me to get the mini 6. I himmed and hawed ( or however you spell that) for a week or so, but then got one. Have not regretted that decision. It is a great device!
Has that affected your use of your M1 Pro by a lot? Do you use them for different things? I'd love to know since i'm interested in getting the mini as well and have my own M1 Pro!
@@tee1209 I mainly use the pro at home on my desk and the mini is my on the go device when I leave the house. I don’t have as many apps on the mini as on the pro, just the ones I need when I’m out and about. The pro is the powerhouse and the mini is take it and go. Even if I don’t use it when I’m out, it is easy enough to carry and there out of the way when I need it.
I have my ipad mini 6 since January 22 and it’s been my go to device. I’m not an artist nor an IT person. I do what I need to do with google sheets and google docs on the mini with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I also have goodnotes for other things. I pair it with iphone 13 mini and I don’t see myself geeting an upgrade anytime soon. It’s just perfect. I highly recommend to the the apple pencil to with it ❤
I got my iPad mini in 2019, I haven’t looked back since. It’s light to carry around, great to travel with. You’ll get use to the size. Love it. Will upgrade to another Mini.
Your previous video about the Mini made me buy one yesterday. I have been looking to replace my iPad 4 for a LONG TIME now (I seriously think that Apple over engineered this iPad), but is is heavy and cumbersome to carry around and of course, no more software updates. I was looking at the Air and the Pro but I was put off by the screen size (especially while holding it above my face because I read like that LOL), while the screen real estate of previous Minis was just too small for me (or was it the bezels?). And I managed to score a 256GB version at $200 off the original price. I honestly don't care if Apple decides to update the Mini this year, but if they do decide to update it later this year with a 3nm A-series chip, then this will be going as a present to someone special. :)
I use my ipad pro 11" for just about everything you've mentioned in this video (except photo taking). It's been great for watching movies bedside & on trips, great note taking device, very portable, etc.
I bought the iPad Pro 12.9 last fall and love it. I’ve practically abandoned my iMac for it. However, I wanted something a little more portable for when I’m on the go, or just want to relax in my recliner. So, when my daughter took me to visit an Apple Store in Virginia earlier this month, I couldn’t resist and came home with a purple Mini 6. I was pleasantly surprised at how versatile and powerful it is, and have absolutely no regrets in purchasing it. It’s a great little iPad!
I really love the iPad mini6, I just literally carry this small but elegant device everyday, whatever during the trip, or in the campus study, it’s the perfect size devices for handle with all the stuffs
I’ve been considering the mini 6 for a while and you make some great buying points Patrick, especially the note pad capability which would be brilliant for me. Yep think I’m finally sold on one.
I got an iPad Mini 6 last year to use for all my photo editing. I use a 26 megapixel Fujifilm and it handles editing the raw photos with ease. I didn't like always taking my laptop when travel to edit my photos. I can edit photos while laying in bed now. lol I almost went with the M1 iPad Air but chose the Mini because of the lower price and reviews from other photographers that use it. Including your video on it. I would only upgrade it if they released one with a pro-motion display.
I absolutely love my mini. I use it in all my meetings. The biggest down side is typing on it. The keyboard on the mini takes up so much room in landscape mode, and the portrait mode is too small to type long paragraphs. I use it for handwritten notes, quick references, and portability. It is great to skip out of work and do half day Fridays without the boss knowing I am out of the office. 🤣😂
I have an iPad Pro ( M1 chip ) - absolutely love it… purchased for mainly music apps. The usb c supports thunderbolt 3. I prefer the larger display for apps; however, the downside is the weight.
I've bought the mini 6 a month ago and it's so worth it! I use it for everything, I actually thought it would be smaller, but the size is perfect. Keep up the great work, love watching your videos!
The iPad mini 6 is my first mini since I always had the bigger/pro ones. I never thought I would love the mini as much as I do. I don’t mind the Pro lineup, but I haven’t looked back since I had the mini
You convinced me, received my iPad mini today and am typing this comment from it. It’s absolutely brilliant. I love my m1 12.9 but this will be my casual use device at home.
@@PatrickRambles only thing I am badly missing is FaceID. What I would love is to have iPad mini Pro, miniLED/OLED, FaceID, 8GB or higher ram, bigger battery and 128 base storage. Size and weight is just perfect. Wishful thinking?
The Mini 6 on my nightstand is the first device I grab in the morning. I walk around with it in house doing my daily routine. The Mini 6 is so convenient and it's really the only iPad that's made to be used as just a Tablet. Everyother iPad on the current laptop has some sort Magic Keyboard/Keyboard Folio to become your Laptop-replacement. The Mini 6 with just the Apple Pencil 2nd gen is such a seamless compact tablet experience. Can't wait to see if we ever get a Mini 7th gen. All I want is pro motion. LCD is fine for me with the Mini's high ppi count, Mini LED like the 12.9 Pro could make costs too expensive for a "mini" ipad.
I sold my iPad pro 2018 and was thinking to upgrade to an M1. But when iPad mini 6 came out I did not hesitate and grab it right away! Until today I love using it both for work , studying and entertainment. Power in size! Love it! P.s. video please of your New York trip with the iPad mini 6…thankeee!
I love my mini! I started with a cellular version but realized it wasn’t worth the data line so I ended up with with big Wi-Fi model. It’s changed the way I read, shop and take notes. Thanks for all your great content!
Just bought my iPad mini 6 in January 2023 with as a cellular config with 64GB in purple! Absolutely loving it, added a purple iPhone 14 as an addition to it. Kinda disturbing tho, that there is no purple Apple Watch and my iPad has 64GB less storage and 2GB less ram than my iPhone haha
@@PatrickRambles maybe no more storage, but I've struggled with my 2018 11" iPad Pro in terms of ram. Saw a listing somewhere, where it noted that the mini got 6GB ram and I got exited and bought it with this in mind🥲
15 months later and this is still my primary device for consumption, most of what I do(videos, web browsing, reading, etc). It is not just the ipad I use the most, it is the only ipad I ever actually used, and my MacBook Pro gets very little use outside of my job since I bought the mini 6.
@@PatrickRambles it just needs a brighter screen. I wouldn’t mind thinner bezels either :). Otherwise, I can’t imagine what they could do to improve the mini 6.
@@DigiDriftZone yeah. I tried finding reasons to use my other iPads as well. But signing documents once a year became the only use for it. I was nervous about the smaller size of the mini at first, but I took a chance and discovered immediately that the smaller size is exactly what I needed.
I haven’t picked up this latest iPad mini just because there isn’t a headphone jack and I enjoy listening to music on my mini through some nice wired earphones and have been wanting to avoid charging and worrying about battery time if I pick up a wireless set. I have had three minis over the last almost ten years that I use as my everyday carry and my phone. Although these days I can almost argue that a phone is useless and that I can keep up with everyone through many different options available on the iPad. I live in Tokyo and the mini has always been great on the train and fits nicely in my shoulder carry. The one thing I do like about the new mini is that it seems a little lighter than my current one and it will be just a matter of time before I pick one up… nice review, thanks!
first video i seen from you and i have a feeling u should vlog you would be killer at it. this vid was so easy to watch and get through, just a feelgood vibe even tho i came here for specs and info
What the heck??? Everywhere on youtube I go I see these guys talking about the mini 6. I bought one back in 2022 but never thought it would become a fav😅 So glad that I bought one for myself😊
Great video Patrick, thanks buddy. I'm about to upgrade my iPad Mini 3 from 2015 - not exactly ahead of the curve here! One of the real attractions for this UK old fart (nearly 60 - help!) is how perfect it is for that old-fashioned pastime of READING BOOKS, using Apple Books and the Kindle App. Reading for a prolonged period of time on an iPhone is a real strain on the eyes and I don't want to lug a 12" screen around - on a Mini it's just about perfect. I think it's upgrade time - oh, and I'll happily explain what a book is to anyone who isn't sure ;-)
I have several tablets, iPad Pro 11 (M1), Ipad 10.2 (2019), Lenovo Tab Y700, Huawei Matepad 10.4 and finally IPad Mini 6. Among them, the IPad Mini 6 with the paper-like screen is definitely the best for use case such as note taking and managing work related applications. Its portability outweighs everything else when you short on desk and bag space 😂.
I plan on getting the iPad mini to store my recipes, so I don’t have bulky books or papers that could get ruined, and I’ll use a stand so it’ll be at eye level when I do my prep work. I still plan on keeping my IPad Pro and MacBook Pro for other things, such as my research which requires lots of storage capacity, but the mini is perfect for holding my recipes.
I have been searching for videos who can help me decide whether to get the ipad mini 6 which i have been eyeing since 2021 yet i have considered ipad air 4 for the size and a blow up of a mini and also looking at the ipad 10th gen. Finally found your video and you convinced me right away. I have a mini 1 and 2 but can no longer use the youtube app, i have a blackview tab too but i still cant forget how pretty the ipad mini 6 is. So thanks! I will buy the mini 6 this week!
I love my iPad mini, but I would not recommend someone looking at iPads now to buy one. We've already had apps and features that require the Mx chipset, so we can probably expect other features in any future release of iPad OS that only work on Mx iPads. iPads are kept longer than phones, so we need to make sure they are as future proof as we can get. I feel the same way about the dynamic island on the phone. I'm holding onto my current iPhone until they all have the dynamic island and USB-C.
Well...despite the mini 7 most likely on the way, i just bit the bullet and got a used mini 6 on ebay. Listed "like new" condition, 256gb, includes apple pencil 2, case, and screen protector. £500, or about half price from new for all that stuff. Figured that even if the Mini 7 comes out tomorrow, that's still a great deal!
Your video saved me from a big mistake the Mini is so far ahead of the 10th generation iPad I ordered. It really falls in a gap between my iPhone and my iPad Pro. It is my constant companion.
Make it foldable, and I buy it. Even tho I have a 12.9 M2 iPad. The bigger one would be my office/home tablet, mostly used for drawing, and the smaller one would be my daily carry. That would be perfect for me.
I still have my iPad Pro 12.9 from 2018 and wanted to buy mini for notetaking since mine gets in a way when I'm travelling for work. But I can't get over the fact mini has only 60Hz refresh rate.. I just notice it too much. Hopefully, we get a mini Pro :P
I use a iPad mini and iPad Pro 12 for toilet time , ipad mini on a magnet so easy to view news have 3 magnets holders while shaving , bath and toilet and iPad Pro 12” to read newspaper
Thank you for this feedback. I was debating between this and the new kindle tablet that you write on. I think you nailed it in the coffin when you mentioned the paper protector. That could be the best of both worlds. I’ve been looking for something for my bible studies.
I use it as my phone. I haven’t used an iPhone since 2019. I wish they came out with an ultra version. Maybe with vibration motor, Apple Pay NFC, Brighter screen 1500 nits, better camera, faster processor. I would get it in a heart beat
I'm considering a Mini so that I have a handy tablet to read my groom's speech from at my wedding later this year. A bit of an excessive excuse, but it's an excuse 😉
I would like to see more in depth how to use it more practically. I'm not in to having the latest model or gaming. One thing that would be great is for example if you can use it as a second monitor to your laptop for when you travel/don't work from home or office. If you can make a 3D scan of a objekt and transport it to a CAD software, and in other ways make my work/studying more efficient.
Actually another way is to open an app that can be cast then use the ipad OS built in split screen feature to open any other app …once you have both apps showing on your iPad cast one of the apps to a tv for example then maximize the non casted app on your iPad
I was waiting for the iPad mini before this one released. By the time I was ready to buy, I felt that the specs were not as good as I had hoped and it was more expensive than I thought it would be. I ended up getting the iPad Pro because it had a lot more value & longevity built-in for the price. I hope they refresh the iPad mini again in the future, or drop its price by a lot.
iPad mini gang since 2013 ! I freakin love the mini 6. My dream is an iPad mini with 1TB storage. Pleeease Apple!! I have so many movies/anime/books downloaded on mine. There’s always room for more. 256gb is cool, but I’m 40gb away from being full lol.
Cell phones and tablets are so powerful that they could be the only device that would cover my needs (and others that mainly browse the internet and do some Word and Excel stuff) but Apple needs to do a DEX like function with iOS and iPadOS... so for now, it is a S22 Ultra that i have, and the more i use it, the more i am getting away from Apple. But i miss the little something more that Apple do with their products.
I have one, just got a few months ago. Costco had $100 off. I do wish I got the sim enabled one. I love talking to trade shows. Great for taking notes, plus photos and then annotating them. Also output to the tv in the hotel room. Perfect for the plane too.
Bought the cellar mini 6 2 weeks ago and I love it! It’s the perfect size. The others felt too big, but the mini felt just right. The battery isn’t that great but it gets me through the day on cellular
I am waiting on a new one coming out and I bought (10) generations in 2022 with a cellular with a WI-FI AND I TOOK WITH ME ANYWHERE THAT I GO ESPECIALLY WHEN I NEED TO SEARCH FOR A PLACE TO GO ON MAP ,BUT I STILL WAIT ON A NEW ONE COMING OUT BECAUSE THE SIZES OF MATTER , I AM OWNED 2018,2021 PRO AND NOW WAITING ON THE SMALL ONE SO I CAN PUT IN MY POCKETS AND WORK PLACE EASILY ON WORK BREAK TIMES FROM STRESSES OF WORKING AND ANNOYING THINGS.
The mini is just amazing. No if ands or buts about int. I got rid of my iPad Pro 11 inch for the mini and haven't had a single regret. I use it daily alongside my M2 MacBook Air and iPhone 14 pro and it's the perfect size for a tablet. It works so well and the portability and Apple Pencil 2 support just works flawlessly. I hope Apple puts the "pro" specs in a mini form factor one day
Toiletability - among all hundreds or thousands of videos about ipads - this single word truly defines the thick red line that comprehensively separates two distinct tiers of tablet usability.
i bought ipad mini 6 last year and it is the best device i had in my life. i used it for my studies, my work, my personal life journaling, watching youtube, edit in pro create, do my instagram reels, facebook etc… its the best. so portable, so good! its amazing! worth it! i love it! i have many good things to say about it. hahaha..
Ipad mini generation 7 is around the corner, it will have a diferente design, the button will go away somewhere so you will have larger viewable area, and the most significant is the CPU a big upgrade.. it is getting very hard to wait.
I got my mini not to long ago and gave my 11 inch pro iPad I pencil to my daughter and don’t regret it.. but have to replace my I pencil since I gave mine to my daughter so she could continue to draw with the iPad
still use mine since day 1.love it for video editing on the couch and have it near my desktop for note taking, BUT... gimme a OLED screen and stage manager...
Another great video Patrick ! I've been loving the mini 6 - and have been a "raving fan" of the iPad mini since the very first one in 2012 ! Create a Great Day ❗
The paper feel screen protectors are great however I don’t buy the paper like brand because they cost way too much the $7.99 ones on Amazon work very great
