I've had my 3.8 2011 Genny for a few months, absolute love! There is nothing that competes with value for money on the market imo, people overlook it because of the Hyundai badge.
@@declancosford7701 gas mileage was pretty good for sports car. But I don't have the car anymore 😔 She got into an unfortunate accident... Now I have 2019 kia stinger gt1.
I bought my 13 2.0t premium a month ago and I’m in love it’s not the fastest thing stock but Definitely faster than most cars on the road and the looks alone are enough to make someone want her
I’m about to get a 2013 2.0 t tomorrow with 66 thousand miles I’m so scared it will mess u on me heard nothing but bad but I loved all three tiburons I had but scared this car will be junk n they won’t damn 20 grand through CarMax for it
@@butterflygrl_1007 i’m looking to get the same! id love to hear any immediate reactions of the car whether they’re good or bad so that I could finalize my decision

I own 2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8 6 speeds auto it’s really great sport car and I don’t feel I need a better than it it’s enough for daily used and good performance & sometimes I use it for racing it’s Beast and powerful 💪
BK2 3.8 gang here! Love every second of it. I'm actually on my second genny. Bought the first one for 17.5k back in 2020 it got totaled (very bs story) bought the second one end of 2021 for like 23k (sitll worth it) and if this one wrecks I'll probably get another LMAO. Both are 3.8 R-spec 2015 models.
LMAO meee I just got my 13’ 3.8 track for 20 and people look at me like I’m on crack haha but IDC it’s worth it too ME !! And then some .. I love this thing . I have 78,000 miles and needs some maintenance but otherwise she knows how to put the biggest smile on my face
@@iPuncakeee get a 2.0 more upgrades. The platform is slept on. You can't go much over 400 with the 3.8 unless you force induction it then u have to really know what your doing. You run into oiling issues and many others. Had my 2011 rspec 2.0 and love it had to replace oil seals all around but thats it. About to upgrade the turbo. 181k power steering rack and seals for the engine are the only problems. Car is easy to work on plenty of room in the engine bay. Will probably always have this car!!!!
My buddy sold me his '14 2.0t for $3500! This thing rocks. It's the most mechanically sound car I've owned! Just put Dragon Chip Tune in it which gave me 45xtra HP and, a peddle commander in it and, Holy hell! The commander unleashes the acceleration that you WANT in this car. Simply, BADASS!!!!
@@Psythik beside the tune the unorthodox racing underdrive pulley seemed like the best mod i did to the one i had.i had headers, r2c intake,tb spacer, manifold riser, cnt exhaust, catless downpipes, and cnt exhaust as well.i ended up putting the 2 lower cats back in because it was to loud, extended the o2 wires for no check engine light.when i got my tune from sfr i dont think the o2 light could be turned off
It’s crazy how KDM really got no love, had an 06 gt so tibby ( Seoulful racing upgrades)and a 13 2.0 R-Spec and loved both got tired of waiting for 3rd gen genny and the promise of 5.0 dreams, miss them both
The Veloster N with the same G4KF motors our gennies have is selling actually more units and hopefully this will bring more light to the gen coupe. When I retire my gen I'm sure to buy the new Elantra N just to support hyundai.
Hello there, I had the BK1 2.0T 6spd and loved it but it definitely needed more power. So after that i got a 2013 Volvo s60R design and had that for 5.5yrs but wanted a manual so I was looking between the 3.8 BK2 of the 370Z. The 3.8 caught my eye with the styling and reliability, granted the 370Z is faster by a tad. The 3.8 Ultimate 6spd I chose is something I don't regret at all. Got it with 86K miles and now have 106k miles and haven't had any issues. I added the Megan Transmission Mount, Eibach Lowering Spring, Engine Leash and Intake Monifold Risee.
The Genesis coupe styling is what the Nissan Z should have evolved into. I can drive from Florida to California in two 18 hour days with no discomfort whatsoever. For a sports car, it is THE most comfortable car I've ever driven. Sports cars that look that good are rarely that comfortable. I bought a 2010 3.8, and just assumed that since it was the first year, it would probably have lots of bugs that would need to be worked out and fixed. On only the rarest occasions do I get locked out of second gear, and my personal opinion is that it is due to driver error. I drive this car a lot so I am noticing that the upholstery on the driver's seat is a little worse for wear. Seat covers help, but it's clearly not the toughest material. The plastic on the dash, doors, etc. is also kinda cheap looking. When it came time to get some new tires, I found some company out around Los Angeles which sold me four tires mounted on new TSW rims for not much more than a new set of tires at the local tire shop. They arrived balanced and full of nitrogen, and really look fantastic. I didn't like all the badges and logos on the car, so I removed them. I kept the wings on the back but replaced the grill with just some scrap piece of expanded lathe which I painted black. The only other modification was to add an x pipe ($25.00), a pair of loudmouth resonators cut from a wrecked Mustang at the local pick and pull ($30.00), and a muffler delete. It sounds awesome, but in hindsight, I think a better way to go is to just to a simple muffler delete using the original tips which still sounds fantastic for little to no money invested. I see people spending thousands for these fancy exhaust systems, and frankly they sound horrible. Hyundai makes cars that are practically indestructible. This is my third Hyundai, and I plan on keeping it for the rest of my life. It wouldn't surprise me to put half a million miles on this before anything serious needs to be done to it. These cars are incredibly durable, but they weigh too much. I'd really like to figure out how to remove all of the air bags. The entire air bag system, and then figure out what else can be removed to lighten the load, and hopefully get better fuel economy.
2013 2.0t owner here. 108k miles in. Hyundai warranty has been great, first owner, and issues at all except 4 years ago, knocking rod failed on me. Hyundai built me a new engine while i had to drive elantra for 6+ months but this was during covid where there was shorage of everything. Planning on trading it in though for a miata. Its been fun, but on only biggest issue with genesis coupe is its weight.
A bit over a year ago I bought my Genesis. I never saw them before but I was stationed in Mississippi for a short time and saw 3 in one day and fell in love. Looked into them and saw this video and started to really looking into getting one. Found a 2013 2.0t premium for a good price and bought it. I considered the rspec which was available (also 2013) and slightly cheaper but hated the all red interior and wanted a sunroof. Glad this video popped up again. Thanks for spreading some love for these cars. They're in the shadow of every car ever for a lot of people but they're really fun cars.
I really appreciate you coming back and sharing your story Penguin. They really are but that is a good thing, their prices will stay relatively lower than most of their competitors.
Back in 2011 I looked at just about every vehicle offered by every Manufacturer. Decided on a 3.8 Track model, 370Z knock-off for 10k less. As everyone says, they are fun, not to mention the handling of the track model felt like I was back in my Italian shifter kart. Now the bad, I hope they have all had the Factory recall performed on the timing chain tensioners, I don't know what kind of pot metal they were made of, but for metal teeth that just hold chain tension until oil pressure comes up they rounded off like they were made of plastic. This story, if you're still with me is because Hyundai would not replace the known factory defective part because I did not get my oil changed at the dealer, reciepts in hand from my oil changes, not that that has anything to do with a known factory defective part. They suggested I take it to court. I found out later that the mechanics don't like to do the job because they loose time/money because of how they are payed for it. It's a total front engine teardown, so beware.
3/15/2023. Picked up a 2015 3.8 ult for 6k and 140k… best investment I made so far.. a great car that can pull onto freeways and a rivals for the Z boys and v6 muscles out there witch is all I need
Have owned my 2012 2.0T Premium since new. Just hit a 100,000 miles a month or so ago. It is awesome for commuting in Houston traffic. Put a canned tune on it about a year after buying it. Love it! Will never sell it.
Could you tell me what your doing to keep it reliable? What’s the secret I’m seeing a lot that need a engine repair before hitting like 90k I’m wanting to buy one and it’s got 97k miles
@@JustABlackTacoma All I have ever really done is oil changes & air filters. Now about the time that I put the previous post up, I had bought a CBD2 scanner and my 1st time riding into work, my check engine light came on. I replaced the oxygen sensors myself, but realized that the place where I had done my last oil change had considerably over-filled the engine (always check). This caused a blown head cover gasket which I had a mechanic replace, along with plugs & boots. It's running fine since then.
Also quick note: at 3:30 the BK2 has bluetooth in R-spec trim. Both handsfree calling and music. I don't know about BK1s. Was definitely bumping on my way home 😉
I purchased my 2013 GT new. Ten years ago in March. I have had zero issues. It’s only got 61,000 miles and is now just a weekend cruiser. If you can find one especially one that has not been run hard grab it. They are starting to get hard to find as they had a very low production rate. Around 118,000 over 8yrs.
leave these cars under appreciated so people will not buy them and inflate them like the the nissan z and 240s and subis their decently priced at the momeng even with the csr market completely out of control right now
I bought a 2010 Track 3.8 manual for $950 with a blown engine. 3K for an Engine and some mods and a tune from SFR I’m into it for 6k. Very fun car and no one know what it is
@@declancosford7701 ranges from about 20-25mpg a full tank will get you about 330miles if you want it for a daily driver it’s not bad for a V6 but expect to be at the bump once a week maybe twice if you drive a lot
@@dissociatedtv373 I ended up getting a premium for around the same price with same milage. Mint condition. Because it's a daily I valued the tech and the R spec has basically none. Can't wait for delivery! Checked it out today it is MINT. I should do a video.
Boy take that 8k and buy you a BK1 and throw some work into it your car isn't bought it's built my 2011 2.0t is getting. A major face lift rn but at 136k miles I haven't ran into any mechanical issues engine still purs
I like the genesis, hence why I was watching your video. I have to ask, is that clock in the background functional? it stayed on the same time throughout the video. I really like it though so if it works, can I have a link for it?
It does work! I have no idea what was going on with it in this video haha. My wife got it a few years back, so I am not sure the exact name brand. But, this one looks exactly like it: amzn.to/3dA7SZ6
I am 36, and have owned 19 cars in my life. Nothing and i mean NOTHING has been remotely as stressful as owning a Hyundai Coupe or dealing with Hyundai corp. The car came with bumper to bumper warranty, and using it was an entirely other stressful situation. Between 30 grand of warranty work over the 4 years of owning this, which did not even touch the engine, trans or turbo. Its ridiculous. The car itself, horrible quality, everything rattles, leaks and eventually will break. The shifter and clutch is by the worst i have ever felt, and these things are not fast. Even built, they arent fast. They SUCK! My 20 year old z06 still brings smiles per gallon and only sees a shop every couple years. To summarize, i would buy a horse before buying another Hyundai or coupe for that matter.
For a Hyundai, it's barely broken in. Nowadays, these cars all have rev limiters which is usually enough to keep people from over revving the engines. I sold my last Hyundai with over 250k miles on it, and that thing was running just as good as the day I bought it.
I have driven the base Veloster, and it was pretty cheaply made and pretty cramped. The Genesis should give you more room and I am confident it is higher quality overall. Genesis did merge into a luxury brand.
For anyone who may have read my past comment for a quick update sadly I wrecked the 2.0 (not my fault land ran stop sign) but not long after I was able to get into a 3.8 and boy oh boy if you have never felt 300+ ponies your in for a treat the car is plenty fast and more than enough to get you in some trouble
Also if you are worried about reliability and are trying to get into a genesis coupe get the 3.8. They are known to be a bit more reliable than the 2.0 but maintenance is key treat her right and you’ll be good.
I’m thinking about buying a 2010 bk1 off a guy I know, it’s got 250,000km or about 155,000 miles. The mileage scared me a bit but my brother owned one and they seem to go for a good run when properly maintained. I’m gonna jump the bullet most likely due to the condition and price he’s selling it to me for, but does anyone else have any opinions about buying a bk1 with high mileage?
You can just make sure you get the timing chain changed asap. Also check out the pinion rack. These cars can easily get to 300k but low oil and the chain is what kills these cars
