Julien and Kiersten Saunders are rich & REGULAR and in the season 2 opener of Money on the Table, they meetup with some of their friends to enjoy brunch at one of Atlanta’s best restaurants; Lake and Oak BBQ. There, they talk about the job market, cost of housing, ease of travel and the diverse culture Atlanta has to offer.
Full show notes here: richandregular...
In recent years, Atlanta has become a top destination for families; especially when compared to higher cost of living cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. But don’t take it from us. Hear first hand what our friends Ronnie Dickerson-Stewart, Mike Jordan, Jacqueline Cervantes and Troy Bell have to say about moving and living here. And when you’re ready for a visit, make sure you make a reservation at Lake & Oak BBQ to enjoy the culinary artistry of acclaimed Chef, cookbook author and owner Todd Richards.

My husband and I are picking up our family and moving to Atlanta in a few months so this video definitely hits home and makes me feel confident about our decision.

As a native of Atlanta, it's nice to see a video from transplants who are actually enjoying the benefits of the city. Far too often I hear complaints from those who've moved here and their comparisons of Atlanta to their native home. Atlanta isn't for everyone, but I think you must make the best of where you are & if it doesn't work, you can always return home 😉

Great episode, Julien and Kirsten! It is evident the thought, time and and effort that was put into this episode. It is encouraging to see others talk about these issues that affect our daily life: finances and social issues rather than TV drama as shown on Real Housewives of Atlanta. I felt like I was participating in a conversation with friends while watching. Again, great job!

THIS WAS CLUTCH! Love to hear the stories of others. You are making a movement accessible for those that thought it was unattainable or wasn't for us! Keep climbing, Family! I recently binge-watched your channel last week...and I'm a fan for life. My husband and I are on our way to this freedom. Only have the mortgage left! Exciting to see us doing big things.

I left the West Coast in 2012 and headed to Houston. Atlanta was my first choice, but since I had family in Houston and it was closer to the family I have in Louisiana, Houston became my choice. I love living where the cost of living is way more affordable. 😊

I wonder if most women are bread winners because the high rate of unmarried or single parent homes?
@richandregular
@richandregular 2 года назад
No. They’re breadwinners because they’ve taken the lead in education over the years and are earning more in the workplace. Also, they’re starting businesses at a higher rate than men are.
@Rashaadthegr8
@Rashaadthegr8 2 года назад
@@richandregular True. but there businesses are the least invested in by VCs and the majority of jobs they have are in low paying careers. I'm not saying all but most. And white women do have the highest rates of single parent followed by black women statically. So if you're the only one in the house then by default you're the bread winner. Both things can also be true. Women out graduate men 3 to 1 but the majors they choose are sometimes not high paying. Plus women get paid 70 cents to the dollar of a man. Not to mention black women on average make the least of any demographic. It's deeper than rap.
@richandregular
@richandregular 2 года назад
@@Rashaadthegr8 So there are contributing factors and attributing factors. All of the points we've both made(single parent households, education, wage gaps) are contributing factors, but then there are "driving forces" for a particular point. In this case, the point is the rise of black women as breadwinners which is defined as being among the leading income providers for a household. A woman who earns just as much as a man is a breadwinner. They're considered co-breadwinners. THAT inclusive of women who are the outright breadwinners is what we're referring to. THAT is occuring at a higher rate than in previous studies, hence the rise of breadwinners as a whole.

@@richandregular but it doesn't say how many of them are single moms or how much they make. Plus millions of people lost their job in the pandemic. I'm just saying that if your husband doesn't exist or had no job it's easier to be the bread winner. Plus only 29% of black adults are married. 80% of single parents are mothers. The numbers aren't adding up. Oh they are counting everyone ok that's different. When I'm thinking bread winner. I have the vision of a married couple. I mean only fans also helps people earn 5 or 6 figures a month sometimes 7. But I digress. My bread winner definition is just different. If you're single I don't think of you as a bread winner because you aren't on a team.
