The Beechcraft King Air is one of the most capable propeller aircraft of all time. With over 6,000 of many variants built since the 1960s, it is an icon of both luxury travel and rough-and-tumble bush piloting. There are few aircraft as versatile or widely used. Asobo created an excellent aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and I think the King Air has something to offer all, from new players to hardened flight sim vets.
To show off some King Air fun, we take a flight from Katanning airport in Western Australia, flying a medical transport King Air to Perth Intl. We take off using a dirt runway, and land at a busy international airport, something not unrealistic for a King Air.
As always, these videos are intended to expose people to the fun aspects of flying these different aircraft. These airplanes are not perfect, and I am certainly not an expert in their operation in real life nor in the sim. If you have anything to add, correct, or any fun King Air stories drop a comment below!
Why You Should Fly is a series by VFR looking at the planes we can fly in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and what makes them cool and worth your time. All quality aircraft have some reason that makes them worth flying and we want to share that with all simmers. If you have a favorite airplane in the sim that we haven't covered, and want to tell us why we're nuts for not doing it yet, explain the error of our ways in the comments below!
Thanks for flying with VFR!

I’m going buy steam gauge overhaul by Black Square, as soon as it will be released ! I’ve already got it for 208B Caravan :)

The one reason I would always love to fly this plane, even though I don’t have the game, is because it evokes memories of the Beechcraft Super King Air 200 from Jurassic Park III.

Good video. I’ve come up with realistic backstory for your use of the dirt runway at Katanning. FO: “Taxiing to the active runway. What is the active runway?” Capt: “Doesn’t bloody matter! Use any runway, that dirt one will do! Get us out of here now!” Katanning, man, what a batsh*t boring dump.

Just took a look at the planes you have covered. Can I suggest you take a look at the CJ4 Working Title version. There are some very good tutorial flights available to get you up to speed. By far, this is my favourite jet in the sim. I’ve now flown it around the world and a few times around Australia (probably why I’m about to hit 1000 hrs in my log book). Anyway, take a look at it. It’s very well done and most of the switches and knobs are functional. The Collins system autopilot is extremely functional (compared to the real world counterpart). Check it out and maybe do a video on it also.

Hello sir how do you free float the camera view around the cockpit. Love your Cinematic transitions.

Drone camera, part of the external view showcase. May have to play with keybinds to get a setup that works for you

I’m relatively new. When I make a flight plan for low altitude airways ils. Will nav mode just follow the purple line. Everytime I do that the plane just wanders away from the line. I set the autopilot on and everything but idk lol

I dont think the G3000 mod works with this aircraft, it uses the G3X system. WT have a mod for this glass cockpit but it hasn't seen a lot of love for a while now.

The king air really needs an upgrade so the cockpit becomes more functional. It is less functional than in FSX for example.

What's your recommendation regarding reverse thrust, how to configure my Trustmaster controller ? IfI assign "Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust" to a button, it seems full reverse thrust will be produced. Can the reverse thrust be gradually applied ?

worst thing about the king air is how the engines restrict the view! view much better from the tbm!

This is also why I prefer flying the TBM 930. Twins are probably better IRL, but in a video game/sim, my considerations are different. I also have the similar Caranado PC12, which is nice when you don't want a full-on glass cockpit.

Great video - This Garmin is a bit different ... G 3000 ? Im interested in using my touch screen with this but not sure that MSFS allows touch screen interaction. I seem to have many issues with this Plane ... is it just me ? POV jerks left every now and then in the cockpit for no reason... Im seeing no response from the AP and other buttons even the cockpit panel. I must be missing an initial button ? to get the FD or AP buttons to turn on. Can you comment ? I updated the G3000 fyi

Have had some strange behavior as well, although seems to be working pretty well for me in the current build. AP should operate just like all the other Garmins

It is a knob on the lower center pedestal, far right. Works (at least with G3000 mod) but I've heard elsewhere its bugged
