I got a total of 12 alts at the moment one for each server on the eu data centers. But it been all from max amount of alts aloud down to only 3. Depending on how stressed I been feeling. Also I'm a character creation addict so alts do get created and deleted often.
I have one alt on my main server that I barely use, my 1.0 toon and a few others spread over various other servers/data centers for those rare times that the server goes down and I have to have my fix.
As a free trial player being able to play every job on 1 character is absolutely insane to me. I've already gotten 200 hours levelling every job and only just hit level 50 with them all. This game makes alts the least required thing ever but I guess if you wanted to have something to level and peak min max the option is always there for subs.
I enjoy making Alts that their looks fit the Job/Class they're playing. I've only played a week and have 3 so far leveled to ~20. I've played thru all 3 starting zones and am really enjoying this game.
Thank you thank you. I hate how much the game punishes you for making an alt. Like maybe some hate making alts, but being able to make one and use account wide stuff would make this game better
i use alts for roleplay purposes - i want to have a big cool knight woman, but i don't want to have to fantasia/name change every time i want to play my ishgardian merchant man. it also means all i have to do is log out and log back in if i'm due at a venue with a specific character. it also saves me the trouble of having to worry about types of gear per character.
I only use alts for this purpose. LIke aesthics and not having to fantasia. Either way I end up unlocking all the jobs and leveling them lol. I love the grind haha
@@BunBossFFXIV right? lmao. it’s leveling alts for roleplay that made me realize i like playing casters too (ishgard man is SMN/SCH, tho in-lore is ARC/SCH, and taught me i like playing SMN, bc up till then i only played physical classes)
I wanted one for each race, but given clans, I don't think that's enough, and then there's the options for gender... Heh heh hahaha I'm going cuckoo, I have so many ideas!!
ive been playing with a small friend group on Brynhildr since right before Shadowbringers, i consider myself a completionist and wanna do everything. The idea of doing it a 2nd time on an alt terrifies me. Might just pick away at it once in awhile. an msq here, maybe a roulette, maybe my khloe card and call it good
I know this is a year old video, but my only concern in this video.... is that you have a 79 Conjurer for retainers. You can make them a White Mage. LOL
I can see why the game is alt character unfriendly Because all roles can be played with one character and data center travel to vist another friend exist too.
So my little brother wants to check the game out so we want to make a new character for him. The question I have is I bought the warrior lvl 80 pack on my other character will it apply to the new one as well?
obvious reason and sorce for multiple chars: you were curious and started as free trial user. with the "1 char per world" limit you will very likely maintain more than 1 char and play through ARR or even Heavensward; the problem is they will reside on different worlds by default.
Could you explain a bit more about how to move items between different characters? Also if your main and your alts are in the same FC how do that work with socializing?
Awww you caught me, nothing gets past your watchful eyes do they? So I am going to make a video about how to do this but to answer your question. You make alts on the same server, goblin. You log into your alt. have a friend that you trust in your fc invite your alt to your fc. You have to have a third person do it, because you can only invite online players. You can even ask some random person to help you and just make sure you change the permissions and such. As far as socializing I dont really use MY fc for that. I do it more to level up and get it ready to when I am ready to open it up to invite other people in. I use the FC chest in order to move things around from alt to alt. You just deposit and then on your alt withdraw whatever you need. I made gear for my alt and retainers with my main and just used the fc chest to move it over to them. I am going to make a video so you have to promise to still watch it :]

I got a feeling that going to have to involve a second person too or maybe the marketboard. I take it you then will talk about how to make an alt fc and how to best use it? Hey! Im happy someone finally made a youtube video about this! I have kept this for myself and I can share some info with you all. - I have 6 alts + my main, only 4 retainers. - I enjoy running Dungeons, and as a consequence of doing this with 7 chars every day and know every detail of lvl 50 dungeons and below. I regret having 4 healers, 2 tanks and main as a dps. I would choose tanks instead since I know the mechanics, I know what gear to use, I dictate the pace of the dungeon. With a healer is frustrating to have all of this experience, dungeon knowledge on tanks who pull 1-3 mobs at a time. Its infuriating and frustrating to keep playing my healers so much so after this invasion of new player its even worst than ever and I am only playing my alt tanks atm along with my main. - Like I said before, healers have the best queue times but with a tank you control the pace. - Because of log in times now a days sometimes i just work on 2 alts most of the time and run my retainers. I have mostly miners and botanist and I dominate the shard markets having at least 60 orders going at all times for every type of shard. at lvl 50 with all lvl 45-50 equipment without crystals in order to get 80 shards per run. If you want 100 you will need a lvl 80 with about 1350 gathering with is ridiculous and not worth the time/money you need on equipment. reference: garlandtools.org/db/#item/2 - In order to make this work you have to run your retainers at least 4 times a day with 4 retainers, that will consume all the company seals you get from roulette leveling and guildhest. If you have more than 4 retainers then you need more company seals. You also exchange gear for CS and Poetics for CS. You can also buy stuff with CS that you can sell on marketplace but that is really saturated right now. Animal fat, anima weapon materials are really cheap right now. -I'm thinking on maybe reducing to number of alts I play with but increasing the # of retainer I have. Let my remind you most of my alts are max lvl and I also get to buy materia but that white crystal thing you get for doing roulette's. - If you want more shards you can join a free company that has a house and gardening plots. You can garden firelight, water lights seeds and get even more shards. That alone total to 5600 extra per week and 800 per day. - I have made millions doing this and I am not even done with Heavenward on my main character. Lol I'm wondering if you alts can share poetics materials like anima weapon in the same company as that will really help farming all 17k poetics you need.
You have to create an fc and invite the alt to it. You do need a second account or person to help you since they both have to be online. I think I might just make a video on it to make it easier
@@BunBossFFXIV Or use the market place. List an item for a large amount and buy it with your main, therefore passing the Gil to your alt. Although there is a tax.

@@BunBossFFXIV Have you ever considered making a video about what class to play crafting wise to support your main class? Going through things like, well if you’re playing a black mage, play a goldsmith, which is supported by a miner? Making a video about those sort of combos would be really neat, I think.
That is a neat idea! One problem i can think of is that there is really no associated crafter class that can completely craft for a class as it’s take almost all 8 crafters to get the materials you need. I think I can come up with something similar though that might break down how you can utilize each crafter or maximize a crafter if you only wanted to choose one. That being said there are some pretty easy ways to level all the crafters at the same time for very low effort. Great thoughts! I’m going to think about this and see what I can come up with!

That’s a great question! I believe it’s character specific so if you do it on your main, you wouldn’t get it on your alts. Are you asking specifically for mount rewards?
Actually though, it might be account wide. I guess only way to find out. Just create an alt. I know I get the 99 aetheryte tickets on all my alts I create
I'm not sure I agree with the alts + retainers thing being particularly with it. So, I do actually have alts. I began the game in Gridania with my main. So, my first alt I placed in Limsa and the third in Ul'Dah. This was before new game + and I did it for two reasons - to see the unique opening quests and to party with friends on other data centers or worlds. Because of the sale going on recently, my latest alt has been boosted. I feel it's not actually a bad price because the price for the boost is equal to how long it would take me to get to that point in the game anyway. (In terms of subscription fees). I like my alts because I get to play different races without Fantasia. So, in my opinion an alt is only as valuable to you as you feel it is worth while to begin with.
@@BunBossFFXIV fair! I do have one extra retainer. I've played games with far more limited storage space so even though some players would scream at my running inventory, I feel like I've prioritized well enough. (One retainer is dedicated solely to dyes and materia. One to gear and the third is for crafting and rare materials)
Thanks for the video, i just started playing on pc was grinding one character yesterday got to level 13 to day i made a new character (archer now) and the 1st character is not there ??? little help please
You could have created the second character on a different server. On the character screen when you log in you’ll see the world button and you can have a few on each server so most likely it’s there. If you haven’t played full through the game I would recommend sticking with one character until you beat the game before you make alts 💜

You can only have invite your alts when your online with them. You would invite a second person to your fc a friend you trust. You then log off of your main character. Log onto your alt and your friend who is in your fc would then invite your alt. This is because you can only invite online players so that’s why you need a second person or a second account I guess if you had two computers or two accounts
@@BunBossFFXIV perhaps main reason is you CANNOT send items to your alts, nada nope never silly restriction by the game, so it dhas to be done by proxy of another player or by fc.
