i'm 21. I've been into sneakers since I was ten. Here is how I look at it as somebody from the younger end. you only live once. shoes are not essential. you do not need every shoe that releases. You truly only need a very small amount of shoes for different occasions. I feel good wearing a sneaker that I love and appreciate. I can't get this feeling with some fakes. If somebody is truly a sneaker head, they wouldn't wear fakes for this reason. If you are somebody that loves shoes and buy some fakes, you are just lying to yourself at the end of the day and you should be buying those shoes for YOU... if you don't care about wearing fakes.. do you. This is just how I look at it. I understand everybody looks at this subject differently. The authentic pair can also holds value which is a plus but sneakers are (most of the time) not the best investment. It's worth bringing up though. I understand why people get the fake, I personally just do not consider those people sneaker heads. This is definitely a very privileged outlook at it from me and I understand that some people will get a similar feeling with some fakes but if you truly love a shoe, you will save up and get the real thing as that is how it was made by the creator. You do not need a throne room of shoes if you truly only get the ones that you REALLY like and actually wear
If you buy a hype sneaker, wear it a few times a year and keep it in good shape like 3/4 years. You can most likely sell it for the same or even more than you paid for it. Lost of tricks to the trade to get you grails.
you didn’t really speak any truth though. You just have your subjective opinion on why you look down upon grown men who wear reps which is what everybody does since there’s no truth to be found in that argument. Sure people back in the day got clowned on for wearing reps because they were terrible and as you said there was no resale market so anything that was put out to the general public was for the taking at your nearest footlocker or sneaker store. I think reps are so widely accepted now because 1. People have come to the realization that what you wear on your feet real or fake doesn’t matter 2. It’s a genuinely cheaper option compared to resale and even retail without a crazy dip in quality. You get a bang for your buck which in this economy is a must.
Why would a grown ass man be so hurt he caught an L on a sneaker that he would resort to getting a fake? Makes no sense. This type of person will obviously have a large collection already. So what if u can’t get that sneaker. Keep it moving to the next 600 releases.
I'm 35, grew up in the era where you'd get beat up for wearing reps. I won't wear them. Like you said, I think it's just coming from that era where you were the goofiest of the goofies if you wore them. That being said, I get it. The shoes were readily available for us, so there was no excuse for wearing them. These days if a high school kid wants to wear them because he doesn't have a rack to drop on the latest release, it's a little different than not having the $125 to buy them back in the day. I'm a grown man who can afford to buy real, so I will, but I also won't pocket watch and judge the young kids for wanting to fit in. It's just a different era

He explained it a little bit. It just didn’t work out. He didn’t have real ownership, they pretty much just hired him to be the face and build their social media.
I am over 40 and I do not remember reps being a thing at all growing up. I didn't even find out about them until recently. I also do not remember shoes being a big deal in school. Brand name anything was hardly ever mentioned and yes I would be considered poor growing up. I remember going to wallmart or payless of shoes. Also until the past few years I thought sketchers were the best and most comfortable shoes because they were and still are the most popular shoe brand were I live. I mean I see them more then any other brand. I also found out recently that they rip off other brand which I had no idea about. Also I bought a rep a few years back with out even knowing it was a rep. It is a rep of the Jordan 13 and back when I bought it I had no idea the Jordan 13 existed, heck I had no idea what shoes Nike made or what any of them looked like. I knew about the brand but had no idea what Nike shoes looked like. I only learned the different styles with in the past few years. It is rare to see a Nike were I live an as of late I have tried to pay attention to peoples feet. Like customers coming in and just out in about or going to birthday parties and other get together. With that said it seems I can count the number of Nike's I saw in the past year or so on one hand and it is mainly women with like 1 man that I saw wearing them. Also I have changed my mind about sketcher because after 3 years of trying different brand and getting disappointed I tried to go back to sketcher and found them to not be as comfortable as I remember. So ya there is that. My apologies about my long rant in the comments.
@@tellthetruth7497 Nope small city. Maybe 20 to 30 students per class if I am not mistaken. I do remember being made fun of for pants though. Like if your pants were too short of rolled up you would get made fun of. To this day I wear pants that are a bit too long. I also find it odd when people roll up their pants or have them too short. I am like wow I can hear the jokes and giggling. Like the main joke being ready for the floods.
