I'm an ex-military cop, last fall my girl and I were almost robbed just like that grab simulation here in Cleveland. Just by chance I had my dog with us and saved our lives. Now I carry everyday. Thanks to your channel and excellent videos she's decided now to carry also. Big thanks to the both of you.

I just discovered this series, I think they're great. I will be watching these again with my wife. My wife is constantly on the road thus I would really appreciate some videos on entering/exiting the vehicle, weapon location, drawing from concealment while in the transition and while in the vehicle. I think this will help her gain a better understanding of what I call "The 6 P's", Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Preformance. I find it is sometimes better for her to hear it from someone else so she doesn't perceive it as criticism. Thanks for the videos. Please keep them coming. DOL/RLTW!

My wife was carrying her Bodyguard in her purse. She switched to "T" shirt, jeans and holster on the hip and an loose fitting shirt for concealment. At 71 she's still quite attractive. She got the 380 EZ and the transition to the larger pistol was easy....(pun intended) I'm a retired LEO and firearms instructor. You two make some great videos with your demonstrations.

great demo. I still believe that it is better to have a gun than to not have one even if you have to carry it off body. In some ways it could even give you a huge advantage. If you know you are being followed you can slip your hand in you hand bag and have your gun out of its holster and ready to be fired without your attacker even being aware that you are ready to shoot then just turn and fire right through your bag without even pulling the gun out. If i am walking through a bad neighborhood i always slip my hand in my purse and grab gun or knife. It is not always possible wear clothing that can conceal a gun so off body is the next best thing.

I've been showing my wife these videos. She loves that purple under shirt. What brand is that? It really is hard to get a female perspective on concealed carry. Whenever women ask me about concealed carry advise I always say these two things: A purse is not a place for a gun, given how easily they are stolen and that contrary to what one would think, larger guns are easier for women to shoot than tiny guns in the same caliber.
@kimgfa7978
@kimgfa7978 8 лет назад
You are absolutely right! The purple shirt I bought at Target awhile ago. I use different over shirts to help with concealment. Longer tailed cardigans also work. The fall is a great time to find over shirts. I understand how hard it is to find information on concealed carry as a woman. Please let me know if I can answer any questions for your wife. As for the pistol, I love to use my XDS during the summer because it shoots well and is thin and light. When it is easier to conceal in the winter, I use my Mod 2.

I have a small problem with the end. Most people (atleast in the western world) are right handed. Why would a attacker use his left hand in the way shown to pull on someones left hand? There only come three reasons to my mind: He is left hand dominant or knows that the other person is. He is already within a attack with his dominant hand and you`ll be hit hard. He is holding a weapon in his dominant hand ready to use it. There are other tools than guns (some aren`t even legally counted as weaons). I`m not saying this because we can`t have guns for SD here (and if they`d be legal i`d carry guns & frags) but some things don`t change. A thing i can recommend to do is placing things so you can reach them with both hands (or a "brace" of things). What might be a good idea is to find out where your hands are in a surprised, shock, defense situation and look for short ways from there (even things like roofingnails or a piece of rebar can help). Almost every time i was attacked so far i had a big advantage with my left hand because i could pretty much block and attack with the same hand while they couldn`t really use their main hand.

I would like to suggest you take a look at a clip I found that would expand your selection of pants you can comfortably conceal without worrying about pulling the holster out with the firearm. I don't wear yoga pants because I am a guy but i do wear mesh shorts. Although I don't go out in them I tried my holster with the clip in them to see if it would pull out with my firearm when I draw. It didn't. It also will conceal better because the clip can be hidden behind a belt. The clip I am talking about is called the ulticlip.

I commented on the first video and if the point is to have people carry it on there person then you are 100% correct. but Kim has obviously had alot of practice, the muscle memory is there and she's under no stress. have her do this under stress or take someone that just goes through the NRA CCW class and the result would be the same in either scenario. I'm just saying that if you have your CCW permit then carry. if you only have Yoga pants because you are coming out of the gym then carry "off body". my whole point was that having your weapon is better than not having it. most people are not going to get as proficient as Kim I guess. so either make state mandates for training tuff or carry how you feel comfortable.
@kimgfa7978
@kimgfa7978 7 лет назад
Ryan Stanaford thanks for watching Part 2. You bring up a good point, training is very important. Training is what gives me the muscle memory to perform under stress because once the adrenaline is going small motor skills and thinking slow. That's why we stress the importance of training and practice because a CCW class is not training, just education. Thanks for commenting. it's okay to disagree, but thanks for keeping it respectful. Safe carrying
@billjackson1297
@billjackson1297 7 лет назад
I agree completely that it is better to have some chance than no chance at all. While I can appreciate the level of concern I think instead of discouragement from what may be the only option we should stress the importance of training to carry off body knowing that training will allow you to developers that technique needed to be as proficient as possible given the limitations of that specific mode of carry. What may not work for me may work for someone else and I think it is more important to stress the importance of training rather than discouraging what may be someone's only option.

I really appreciate the hands on demonstrations. But I have one questions. You grabbed your Kim on her left hand probably subconsciously knowing her right hand was the shooting hand. But what if somebody would grab your shooting hand from behind? If you have your gun at the 4 o"clock position, there is not way to reach your gun with the left hand (that is if your right hand it the shooting hand).

This is a great video as far as it went. WHY would you carry a gun in a holster inside a purse ? It just doesn’t make any sense. My second question is. Why you would not carry your gun in one of the purses that have a holster on the outside out of sight. It would make it quicker to deploy. Whether it would change the outcome of your demo . I am not sure.
@geaugafirearmsacademy
@geaugafirearmsacademy 7 лет назад
leejproductions27 I typically avoid starting an argument but for the safety factor I'll make this one point. If you carry a gun you MUST carry it a manner that protects the trigger guard. It is unbelievable that anyone would even consider carrying a gun in a purse without a holster.

I feel like the number one reason why off body carry is a terribly dangerous idea has not been covered in These videos: It puts a loaded firearm at the finger tips of pretty much anyone who comes anywhere near it. Every time you hear of a tragic accident of a young kid killng themselves or a sibling by accident it is basically always because they stumbled upon it in mom's purse or in a closet. A gun should either be securely on the person who owns it or it should be locked away in a safe.....thats it! No other viable options.

I taught a basic handgun class to 38 members of my church last year. This class had 38 people for 5 classes during a six month period. The class consisted of thirty-two women and six men. Of that group thirty-one (29 women, 2 men) of them now have a concealed handgun license, the pastor and his daughter being in that group. I am very proud of these people. have been looking at how I can provide real world handgun training for women and your video, STARING Kim, is the answer I have been looking for. Your training techniques will be very easy for ladies to emulate. Kim's example will inspire more women to be more empowered to take matters in their own hands. Kim thank you for taking the lead with women caring handguns proudly, and thanks for this channel for sharing valuable experiences with how to cary these weapons in the most effect manner. Not only that, but you could be in a scenario where you're not the victim - or not the only victim. A cop's life was just saved in Arizona by someone that had a firearm in the car. Of course, you never want to be running in with a gun pretending you're Batman or something, but you never know if you'll be able to save a life by carrying. Also, there's always the buddy system. If you're with someone, you can always protect them if they're the victim, and vice-versa.

Hey, have you tried the Q-series holster? It has a sharp hook that will hook on to pants without a belt. It even has built in retention and is a minimal holster, it just covers the trigger guard. The hook can be taken off, and replaced with a cord. I am impressed with it, but it could be an option for women for on body carry who want to wear yoga pants. I have tried it without a belt with jeans, but defiantly not yoga pants, trying to quit those lol

Not sure of her dress for work, but gun belts work for women's dress pants and skirts with belt loops. many IWB holsters can be tucked into a blouse. A cardigan or blazer can help with cover. if this doesn't help, give me some more information on her dress for work.

Hey guys a question for you all In the 21ft run how does she know for certain that your a threat? Your just someone running behind her you didn't shout or make any remarks she could of possibly shot someone that didn't mean her harm?

If you're alone in a parking garage and someone suddenly begins charging you - you better view them as potential threat, what level of force you would use would be completely based on the situation and there is never an "always" correct answer. Thanks for watching.

they make belly holsters (I forget exactly what they're called, or what brands make them) that are basically fabric/elastic that you wear around your waist/hips/stomach area, that has a fold in it for a gun. great for the gym, jogging, and especially for females who don't like carrying a holster in the belt due to clothing style differences/comfort/concealment.

That works well when you know the drill and what is going to happen. She was beginning to draw while anticipating the attack. It is a flawed scenario. Would you turn and shoot if you heard someone one running from behind? I would hope not. Turn and shoot is not a viable option. Unlike the movies, a person does not fall immediately after being shot so you have to side step and shoot. I'm truly not trying to put you down but I really don't want people to have a false sense of security thinking it is that easy!

The whole point of this video is that even in the most anticipated scenario, off body is not applicable. If someone takes my purse and I'm carrying on body, who cares take it? My life is worth more. If someone is on me (most importantly wishing to do serious bodily harm), I can still defend myself. If my weapon is off body, I just gave a criminal a weapon and I'm unarmed. Proper training is the only way to prepare for stress. This video is only meant to show the importance of not carrying off body, thus the title. I think you are missing the subject of the video.

Kim GFA I commented above that the video was spot on about off body is unacceptable. My concern is for the novice CCW people who think doing what you do on the video will keep em safe. I would add the disclaimer, for your viewers benefit, about how in a real world scenario, it will be far more complicated. I do like your videos tho! I just have pet peeves and I get sick and tired of fixing training scars and explaining contexts and variables of stuff they saw or heard.
@kimgfa7978
@kimgfa7978 8 лет назад
I understand your frustration, so many people think one shot and a person is incapacitated. Thanks for bringing up that point. We try to make the importance of training, not just a ccw class, top priority. Watching a video does not prepare you for the stress of a real life situation. thanks for your support

even with belts, I've seen holsters with clips instead of loops come off with guns in classes a whole bunch of times (and almost every time they say, "we'll that's never happened before.") What really gets me is when people say, "damn it, I hate when that happens," or, "damn it, that's the third time that's happened," and I'm just like, if it's happened before, why the heck are you still using that holster/clips?also, if you absolutely insist on clips, there is something called the "ulticlip" which is much better than regular clips.just a heads up.

Mockturtlesoup1 I have loops on my Alien Gear that I wear everyday. I was just testing out a holster we received to do a review on. I 100% agree, loops are way better. Very interesting series, but I imagine the target audience of this series is the female population, as it is extremely hard for guys to pay attention to the subject matter with Kim standing around the instructor. Great videos you guys have. just found you today btw. I think Kim would be in a bit of hot water if you grabbed her by the right arm and spun her around instead of her left. What would happen then? Also, If she is right handed she would normally carry a purse or bag over her right shoulder but with ccw at 4 o'clock it's probably good to carry a bag on the opposite shoulder and over the neck. What do you think? Obviously I don't carry a purse but my wife does.

I have a question for both you and Kim. How can I get my wife to train with me or even someone else? I train with firearms as well as do martial arts and I always stress the importance of it to her. I try to say that I'm 6'2 230 lbs and I train every day in self defense and in all likely hood she would be chosen as a victim over me without a doubt, yet I still take it upon myself to be prepared so will you please train a little too? It doesn't work. How were you able to get Kim to train and Kim what was your deciding factor? thanks guys, awesome videos.
@geaugafirearmsacademy
@geaugafirearmsacademy 8 лет назад
That's a tough one, with Kim it was easy she knows bad things happen to good people and she chose not to be a victim. One of the big reasons Kim is on the channel is to help females feel more comfortable with self defense and shooting. Has your wife watch this or any of Kim's videos? Maybe your wife sees had too much of a "guy thing" possibly seeing Kim train will help. The last suggestion and I'm sure you tried but just in case is to ask what she will do if someone trys to pull her into a car etc... Noone gets up and thinks "I'll probably a victim of a crime today" unfortunately it happens, their only plan is to "hope " (I hope it won't happen to me) and we all know hope is not a plan. Best of luck to you and I hope this helps.
@yoepix
@yoepix 8 лет назад
Thank you for replying. That's my plan to try and get her to watch these videos with me that have your wife. I have tried just about everything else. I think part of it is I spend so much of my time training, watching videos, researching gear, going to gun shows, etc....that I inadverntly talk about it so much with her and she now just associates it as a guy thing or something that takes up so much of my time that she just puts on her mental earmuffs and doesn't take it seriously. I don't understand how she is removed from the fact that bad things happen to good people because she loves crime shows and shows like I Survived which show normal people talking about how they just barely escaped with their lives. I wish I could just pop that bubble she is living in. Unfortunately some people just don't see the importance until they have been a victim and that's what I am trying to stop from happening. Thanks again and I appreciate what you are doing. If this works watching the videos with Kim....please send me your pay pal account so I can donate to the channel lol.

Eric one of biggest parts of my business it's just training classes but also professional companies and doing security consultations. Kim is a key part in these consultations depending on the business. I doubt you can do much more than introduce your wife to our videos. If she is open have her reach out to Kim directly, Kim would be more than happy to talk to or email with your wife and help with the whole training idea..

Yes his wife is gorgeous but come on focus people lol no but seriously the only bad thing I see about this video is a she turns around she fumbles a little bit with getting the pistol in a point retention Style shooting technique that way it will keep the person charging her from slapping the gun out of her hand and on another note she should also try stepping off the X as he's attacking her change the angle 2 achieve more distance and we all know distance is time when in this type of situation other than that the video as well informative I showed it to my mother and she now knows why she cannot carry her gun in a bag or purse.

I don't see how this is realistic. Who is going to shoot someone that is just running at them. In a real situation, someone is going to have their hands on you before you can legal shoot them. I still think good hand to hand training beats a gun any day. Close and personal a knife is just as deadly and easily concealable. If your wife draws a gun and blasts some one, you might not see her again for years.
@kimgfa7978
@kimgfa7978 7 лет назад
If you have not seen Part 1, this may not make sense. This shows that even in the most ideal situations (I know someone is attacking me and I'm going to receive serious bodily harm), off body does not work. We are big supporters of having as many tools in your toolbox box (self defense/knife/flashlight/pepper spray). That being said, as a woman, the gun is an equalizer in a situation where the other tools reach their limitations. That is when you need to be able to access it, not have it flapping around in a bag. thanks for watching and commenting.
