I assume you are paid hourly, because that was alot of work to come to that conclusion. With a static misfire like that, swapping coil packs plugs would be first, then compression test and then a leak down test. This could all be done within the hourly diagnosis charge (if not two). Curious would you charged the customer. Btw 10 year volkswagen tech here
