After being stored for the winter, I recently took my vintage truck out for the first drive of the year. I wanted to share this euphoric feeling with all of you by creating this final film for my partnership with Nikon. Every scene was shot on the z6 full frame mirrorless camera with the 35 mm f1.8 Nikkor lens. This set up was a total dream for a film like this, especially for all the scenarios where we had limited space like in the garage or in the truck cab. Once again, the stabilization and slow motion features brought this film to the next level. The lens captures beautiful looking sun flares and vividly rich colors that are an absolute blast to play with in post production. This is such a well rounded set up for timeless story telling and film making. If your gear bag were to have only a z6 with the 35mm z lens and a decent microphone on top, you’d be in better shape to produce content than most other creatives out there with 10x more gear.

you don't know what you are talking about. 1955 cars have too much technology. its all about the horse and buggy. there you can feel all the bumps on the road and truly feel connected 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 wait my neighbor the neanderthal says his car made out of rocks and wood is way better. he says nothing beats pedaling yourself and feeling aaaaaaaall the bumps and blisters. blisters and splinters cant be faked 🤔 hmmm I might just try it.

Lucky you. I wish my grandfather's '55 Chevy Bel-Air V8 is still at our family's possession. The hard times during the 80's here in the Philippines forced them to sell it.

I can remember when that vehicle was just another daily driver. We took them for granted and didn't think at all about any of the things mentioned in this video. However, without realizing it at the time, we did feel connected in a way that we've lost today. You "drove" those cars and trucks back then. You felt, listened, and paid attention to them in a way that we don't anymore. We had to be more in tune with them then because they didn't handle or stop like a modern vehicle. So, that is why I still own and drive 60's & 70's vehicles. And know exactly what this man was saying.

This video evokes an emotion in me that only a handful of things have over the last 13 years. Everything about it. The truck, the dog, the background music, nature, the story telling, I can literally smell the crisp chilly air as I watch this. I'm 22 years old, and when I was 17, I bought my first vehicle for $1000, a 1970 Chevrolet C/10 longbed pickup truck back in 2015. All drum breaks, no power steering, no A/C, 3-on-the-tree, ...no motor....My grandfather gave me a motor that was just sitting in his shop, all covered up, a V8 350 out of an 80-87 Chevy truck. I started putting it together with my dad, we put the motor in, headers on it, new exhaust, replaced the old 3 finger clutch, got it painted, had the steering column rebuilt, a little cosmetic stuff here and there, and it is one cool, fun truck to drive! I loved the fact that, back in high school, kids my age were driving around cars that were anywhere between 5-20 years old, and there I was driving a 50 year old truck to school everyday lol. I love it because it's stylish, all steel, and easy to work on too! (Unlike my 2001 Silverado 🙄) my plans are to fully restore the truck, and leave it stock, maybe put A/C in, but only because I live in Arizona. ....I really hope they don't outlaw old cars & trucks in the future due to emissions purposes, because I'm keeping this truck until the day I die, then passing it on to my future kids.

I own a 1969 Ford F-250 Highboy. Above all the other cars I currently own and used to own, my old beat up 69 truck is my absolute favorite. It is built with American steel with pride during a time where men were men. Manual transmission, manual brakes, manual steering, manual windows, manual choke, manual locking hubs...not a truck for the faint of heart. You become a part of the truck as you drive it and that’s why I love it so much. The faded, dented up farm truck look turns more heads than my black Mustang GT and I’m totally okay with that.

I've been a gearhead for over five decades. I am 6 or 7 excitedly and with assistance climbing into my grampas old Ford pickup to head up to our family's cabin in the Catskills for my first trip. Grampa and Gramma still alive and at the Apex of their worldly skills and knowledge readily and lovingly beginning to pass them on to me. In the blink of an eye it seems that I was assisting them into the same truck and driving them up there. Where I would use the skills they taught me but could no longer perform to take care of them as they had for me.

Proud owner of a 1945 Willy’s MB. When I first acquired it twenty years ago, everywhere I went there would be these bright eyed elderly gentlemen who would come over to look and tell stories of their time driving these jeeps in ww2 and Korea. I listened intently and was always thankful for their time. Sadly those stories and those gentlemen are all but gone but now days they have been replaced by children who want to see the army Jeep and their parents who want to take pictures with it, I cannot tell you how many times I have been followed home by people who want to ask about it, buy it or just look at it. Every car I drive by in it brings a smile. There is no air conditioning, no radio, no led screen, seatbelts or power anything. It is just perfection! The sound of the gears and the tires, the engine and the brakes. Nothing can match that feeling. Thank you for the great video.

I understand your sentiments perfectly as I slide into my 65 F100 stepside to go feed the animals. Later, I will use my 66 Mustang to do some grocery shopping. These are my two daily drivers. My only other vehicle is a 1926 Model T one ton flatbed. Even my tractor is a 1948 model. Simple, easy to work on, and long ago paid for.

1965 C10 fleetside here. Inhereted from my grandfather this January 2019 after his passing. He was the original owner and I have that original title. Never leaving my family as long as I live and I hope one of my girls will keep it as well after I am gone.

'65 & '66 F100 & F250's , on a windy day while you sit parked in the cab, the body will whistle in three tones according to the wind. The blinker has a unique click, and these trucks even knew the way home when dad was a little too "tired" to remember.

I also have a 74 F100. 302 2 Barrel. The driver side door is falling off. You can see through the floor in the Box. But I hit the key, and it starts every time. I love that truck. You can set it on fire, and roll it down a hill. And I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe DeVille.

1966 Beetle. It's smelly, it's noisy, it's barely comfortable. 2 Doors. 44 bHp. No power steering, no power braking. In a collision, when totalled, regard yourself totalled too. But that's what driving is all about for me.

Erik I just drove a 1964 Beetle today. I’m in high school, and I work at a body shop. At the end of the day, they told me to go pull the bug in. The clutch in that car is about as predictable as the stock market, and it was definitely not running on four cylinders, but there’s something about an air-cooled bug that made me smile today.

My dad and I just replaced a fender on my '87 Chevy Squarebody truck today. I've driven it since high school, been fixing it up for the last 6 years. You can't recreate the stories that these old cars tell. The history is all part of its character. You do an excellent job of articulating those points in this video. Newer cars have no soul, I'll always own a classic.

Totally agree - rebuilding a '66 longbed right now. I have almost a year's worth of videos up as I've slowly finished body work, motor work, and now into the wiring. It's amazing - you can buy one of these in daily driver shape (or better) for under $20,000. A BRAND NEW F-150 IS $30k+ AND IT'LL BE WORTH $10k IN 4 YEARS! Go buy one of these now - they can be had and people still make the parts for them!

I get misty eyed when I think about my young (at the time) father sitting toddler me down next to him while he drove his '71 Ford F100. Safety was not on the list, comfort minimal...seat belts we didn't have to use on a bench seat, lots of metal everywhere, three in the tree, drum brakes. The smell if Winston cigarettes waiting while we drove to who-cares-where. Those days were epic and fun, I remember vividly. I just wanted to be with my Dad because he was cool and my hero.

I’m 16 about to get a 78 f250 2wd, and this video made me feel great. After my dad sold my 79 f100 short bed there’s been a hole in me that nothing could fill, I remember coming home from school and just sitting in it and just imagining the road. I felt happiness in that truck and I never could explain why, but this video does it for me.

These old cars and trucks are from a different time, a world now gone. I remember my dad's old Ford 150, even my folks '66 Buick lesaber. You always felt the road and the vehicle itself, that way you knew what it was doing as you went down the road. You could feel it.

Although I've owned older trucks, my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 which has none of the modern amenities of most newer trucks, has become my favorite. There are sentimental reasons I won't get into, but I love the simplicity of windows you have to crank up and down, locks that aren't electric and have no remote and a standard shift. It's setup as my camping rig, with a topper and usually has my canoe on top. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Make sure all doors are locked before driving off, though, because the doors being locked is a major part of modern crashworthiness that was integral even back in 2001.

I have ALWAYS loved old cars and trucks. My grandfathers 58 Chevy started it all. After he passed, l drove that big ivory and white beautiful 4dr car to highschool for a time. Washed, waxed, cleaned and cared for that car. I now own a 63 Dart convertable. Not pretty but beautiful. Lines, character and yes, soul. Thank you for this video.

1964 MGB here, not a closet queen but a rust free 99% original daily driver, rolling restoration with 103 K miles.Holds 150 lbs compression straight across. We just got it out of the barn after a winter hibernation. Checked the gas and oil, radiator, brake fluid. All go. Turned the key, fired up instantly. 80 lbs oil pressure...excellent idle, warmed up, down the road for a 10 mile open air spin. Nothing like a well running British true sports car. I sold my 1971 60K miles INTL 2 years ago, had it 17 years. Big mistake but the B makes it all better. Get and old car, and get young again. Enjoy your videos, subscribed with thanks. Great video! I'm In the process of restoring my dad's 66 F100 Custom Cab in his memory. The cost to restore will exceed the value of the truck when finished but to me it is not about money. In this truck I learned how to drive a clutch and spent many hours with him working on projects together. I will pass it on to my sons creating a wonderful legacy that will live on for many years.
