I have owned this lens for more than a decade and it feels like an old friend at this point. The construction is very nice and handling is great. You see people online give it a bad rep, but I have learned that it shines in particular situations - use it like a photojournalist, keep your subjects fairly close and also centered and the lens will deliver.
I've binged on a ridiculous amount of photog vids, and IMHO your photos show the Canon 5D Classic with this lens to be an outstanding combo. Would be even at twice the price! Oh, and beautiful instruments........Sound and Vision
love this video, 28mm is a great length, wish they made it in rf for 2022. ah 5d, brings back memories, my first ff camera. it's the photographer not the gear, but new gear makes things easier. keep up the great work!
Just found one in mint condition for half the price I normally see. Been looking for one for so long but in Canada they're always so overpriced when I do find one. It takes amazing photos on my 6d!
Your videos are amazing quality. Great setup, lighting and audio. Great content... you only need more subs! 😃 I'm sure you'll grow quite rapidly, bc you're doing real quality work. Very informative, thanks a lot! Getting the 5D classic this week myself, can't wait :)
Tempted by the 28mm f1.8. Been into car photography for over 10 years and recently went full frame. I have the 24-105l F4 but would like a faster lens (needs to be wide) for indoor car events
I just recently bought a used 5D II and it came with a 50mm STM and 28-135mm. The 28-135mm is a bit beat, so I'm going to sell it off. I bought a 200mm f/2.8 L for kids sports. But, I'm trying to find something for the wide end. For the money, I think I may go with the 28mm if I can find a deal. Some said the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ART, but I doubt I'll find a deal, plus it seems that 30mm is getting close to the 50mm. Still trying to decide though.
@@GeretyPhoto It went great. Of course there are limitations of using only this lens. I'm glad I used it though. It was plenty fast enough for hand held shots in the church without flash, and great outside too. Gave a great natural perspective. Only thing I couldn't really do without getting stupidly close was the ring exchanging, but another photog did that bit.
I just purchased a used 28mm f/1.8 today, and watching your video, I'm glad I did! I love love love that you showed us the gopro footage of where you were taking the shots as a comparison to the canon photos. This is a great review!
I wouldn’t shoot this image below f2.8. I wouldn’t recompose and shoot on this lens, it’s sharpness is only Centre not it’s edges even stopped down to f8. I stopped using this lens for photography. I use it for video work now. Check out some of the results on my RU-vid channel.
i noticed that when you used iso 100 on the lady that accompanies you, photo looks sharp and clean, but when shooting that photographer guy around 6:55, photo shows significant noise. have you traced, what causes the difference?
any Quality differences between the 28mm f1.8 and the 50mm f1.8? I know the 50mm is a lot more zoomed in. But if they have different distance to the object? So they "look" the same? Or are there any downsides?
