I keep two bags in my car boot. One is a breakdown at night with no mobile scenario bag that has a wool Jumper torch food and water. The other is a going on the run bag with all the essential one might need. Never needed either but who knows... 😅

I remember there was a Wired article from just over a decade ago where one of the writers challenged the readers to “find” him. He did his best to “disappear”. Was found in a few days if I remember right.

thats a good note to add, as someone with anxiety, i followed along just to realize, i do this to a paranoid state! and also give the excuse that “i could not have known it would happen”. Its such a good point to make and reflect on

I've always loved how premeditatio malorum is in direct contradiction to the Stoic quote, "We suffer more in imagination than in reality."

It sounds like a contradiction. But in fact I think they are talking about two different things. The first scenario is people who imagine all sorts of terrors and suffer irrational phobias, so suffer more in imagination than in reality. The other scenario is when you are a leader, even an emperor, making tactical decisions, you should do this exercise, what we nowadays call 'a risk assessment' or 'weighing up the pros and cons."
