The audio is absolutely top tier. It adds to the series and turns a great series into celestial-tier material. The next couple books are awesome too, and books 5 & 6 are incredible! Matt's writing is getting better. I'm already chomping at the bit for book 7.

Hey Navy! You are TOTALLY RIGHT! I am nearing the end of book 5 right now and have been so impressed with this series, but especially the audio. Steambooth really has out done themselves with this project.

This is the book series i recommend to everyone! This is a series that has almost ruined other audiobooks for me because of how well done it is. Jeff Hayes is brilliant. I have listened to the whole series close to 6-7 times minus the new one that just came out and the more you listen or read you will find so much info that was bread crumbed right under your nose! Matt dinniman is brilliant. He also has a kickstart for a hardback book 1 going right now

The comedy is definitely something that jumps out at you… but there is a level of brutality that if was a movie, would be rated R squared. And as the series goes on, there’s kind of a horror element. He is after all, kind of a horror author. Not in a traditional sense, but it’s definitely there.

I do agree with you on the horror element, and should have made it more prevalent in the video. This fact really sunk in once I picked up Kiaju, Battlefield Surgeon. Very dark.

@@FantasyInk yeah you said you’ve made it through book 2 right? Dude I don’t know how he does it, but each book just gets better and better. The newest one is pretty damn dark. If the series was a rollercoaster, then book 1 and 2 is the setup, it’s the hill climb… and then book three is where the ride begins. It has all the feels (funny, intense, happy, sad etc.)… there’s moments where you get teary eyed from laughing, and then there’s moments where you get a little teary eyed from sadness. I haven’t stopped listening to the audiobooks for over a year now lol. I get to the end, and I start back over. It’s probably not healthy lol. Also, Soundbooth Theater (the narrator’s company) just started their Audio Immersion. The first episode is free on their site. It has a full cast, sound effects and music. It’s so good man. The regular audiobook is amazeballs, and Jeff Hays does all the voices in that. Cheers

An online friend and I were talking about books recently. I told him about "The Kingkiller Chronicles" and my introduction to LitRPGs "The Mayor of Noobtown". A somewhat similar story, except the main character dies in a car crash on earth and wakes up to 2 demons using his soul to "Roll up a character" and place him on a planet ruled by DnD or Video game style mechanics. The first book can be a bit hard to get through because there is a lot of Stat talk. The main character has the "Unbound" trait, which allows him to learn without level restrictions. There are about as many books in that series as there are for Carl. He recommended Carl to me, and a little over a week later, I'm on book 3. I drive a lot for work, so I chose the audio books. And, wow, they are so well done. Looks like I'll be spending some money on Audible the next month or 2.

I'm on the latest book! What i like about the series is that the author is a genius sometimes with good foreplanning and layering his plot lines within his plot lines and his world building is top tier all the characters are great, my favorite character is a goat but also times the author is an idiot.

I only read the first book so far. I stopped during the second book. I am not sure when, but I think I might continue at some point. It definitely was a humourous series so far.
