The internal framework is the guide for all of our thoughts and behavior, for example, if I believe, "I just have no self-control with food." I may be able to muscle out a diet for two weeks or even more, but I'll always return to my default settings, because, "I have no self-control." We can aim to modify our (or our children's) behavior, but if there's a related internal framework piece that's behind the behavior, it will find its way back or reveal itself in a different way eventually.
This means that even if we care deeply about changing our behavior, that will not determine whether or not we do change our behavior. We need to change what we believe we are capable of in order to change the behavior. Our brain needs to understand that change is possible for us in order for it to happen.

Character = I am
Behavior = I do
Skill = I'm learning
