Very true ! A course in civil engineering takes 3 years in Germany while in Kenya it takes 5 years this makes me wonder why do we have to be in school for all those years .
Wow! What a show!I feel as if am from a mentorship class already -actually its passionate mentorship.I cant believe i have gotten all that for free! Me and complacency -divorced.I am going to acquire skills that will set me apart. Thank you so much lynn and Elvis for the content❤.
-I agree that university education is not a key to success for everyone, but it is a key to success for those taking technical courses. - I disagree that students spend most time socializing and not studying. We had many classes, study, and assignment hours, especially for those studying technical/science courses in Kenya, and also for those of us who studied abroad. In addition to our studies, we have part-time jobs so university is not a waste of time. I think Kenya should restructure the university education, reinstate high-skilled technical institutions, but not abolish higher education. Also, a system akin to what Germany calls Ausbildung (apprenticeship), is something that they can begin, as a pilot project.
That's a few of student's that do that. Majority of students don't improve themselves if it was the case of what you saying university atmosphere would be different and highly impactful.
I have been waiting for this conversation since he posted on his tiktok and finally its on air, thank you lyn for bringing Elvis on board he's a man full of wisdom and delivers what i like to hear. Keep advising our young ones to get skills and to learn how to represent themselves, those who always throws shades on you i really pity them.
I’m so intrigued and impressed about this knowledgeable young people your bringing on board Lynn! This will motivate others and of course mentor our future leaders. There’s hope for Kenya! 🎉
He is sharing word of Wisdom, to some point, he is very true, our education system was spoiled in the Moi era . Compare China for children's education, but we thank God this young man who has chosen to change many young men thinking, God bless you.
That is definately true 💯💯, peronally i use a channel called Coding with Brian when I am learning web designing and development. But everything in life is just competition and never giving up
Mkuu hapo kwa project ya campo! I almost deferred because of a lec who made my life hard just because I had chosen to do an original research. Dude failed me but gave marks to copy pasting fellas. Were it not for my friends I wanted to defer a semester to graduation. Bure kabisa.
This is a conversation that needed to be had. College education needs to be redefined. It is overrated yet most graduates are jobless and suffering. 80 percent of kenya is unemployed. We need to move with the times and be open minded in terms of course curriculum.
Have been following him he is a smart guy just oozing wisdom, thanks lynn for this i don't know how to thank you coz i can't thank you enough dear LYNN
Woooi thats how i thought ati my dad is in the force ati immediately after highskul direct. Nitaingia.😢 Little did i know the world owes me nothing .. Aki that mentality took the hell of my life hating on my dad since he didn't let me in the police force.. Anyway lessons learnt connection is only from God.
You are confusing an academic programme with a skills training. An academic programme is not a skill training , it is just an educational pathway that provides theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, and a broad understanding of field or discipline you are enrolled to. Though they (academic programs) may include some practical components, their primary focus is on cultivating intellectual capabilities and foundational principles that contribute to a deeper understanding of concepts. This foundation is essential for developing the capacity to innovate, analyze, and solve complex problems. Have you ever asked yourself why it is much easier for someone who has gone through college to grasp complex programming concepts that a form four dropout?
There are numerous success stories worldwide of high school dropouts who have gone on to become outstanding innovators and respected professors. Individuals should be encouraged to choose between academic excellence and skills development, as both paths hold significant value. Ideally, combining these two strengths can be especially effective. However, at present, there is a greater demand for skills over academic specialization, as the field of academic specialization is currently oversaturated in Kenya
We are not in the 70's, 80's or 90's. We live in an information age. College and University have become avenues for business, not for critical thinking. Most courses I took did not focus on critical thinking
