He said we can put the battery in the drone and attach the drone to the computer. I have to figure that out too because I don't know if it is possible.
How are you supposed to update the firmware with a battery that is dead??? I have 2 Mavic Air batteries that are dead, the third in my fly more combo is working fine... I hear similar stories all over - almost sounds as though it were by design... DJI wants you to buy a NEW drone every year or two, just like Apple wants you to buy new iPhone every year or two
Exactly the same, two of my three combo batteries are dead. DJI's answer to me... buy new ones! No chance, if they're so fragile, especially at the insane price they charge.
@@BashaarO.Tarabay I actually reached out to DJI - and after a chat online and some proof of purchase- the created a case and offered to build 2 batteries for me for $170 - no shipping, no tax. They just arrived today. Factory fresh and on the charger. I suggest anyone wanting some new batteries reach out to DJI ASAP.
Kind of surprised that you didn't mention battery hibernation, with is the number one reason that batteries won't charge. DJI batteries will go into a hibernation state if they are left uncharged for a long period of time. This is to protect the battery from total discharge. While the issues you mentioned might be a reason, they are probably not the reason if your batteries have been stored for a long time and now won't charge. Also, there's no way to update battery firmware if you can't turn on your drone.
Hey Jeff, thanks for the info. My drone (phantom 3 pro) was stored in a case for a few years. During that time, it may have been subjected to temps from 95F to 15F. They will not charge. No lights or anything. The voltage checked directly from the battery terminals is .003vdc, and the continuity is good. The charger is putting out 17vdc. If my battery is in "hibernation mode", how do I get it out of hibernation mode? Thanks
I had the same issue "To get the battery out of hibernation, you have to charge it directly via the drone for a few hours to reactivate the battery.@@raybone3
Do your batteries seem to be tight when inserting them into your drone? Mine are. They seem to be a little bit "puffy". Mine were also subjected to low temps (around 15F).
Puffy batteries are not a good sign. They might have swollen and could actually start leaking over time. They also can not be revived if they are in this state.
Thanks for the info. I didn't realise the short life span and the need to avoid leaving batteries uncharged for months so my two batteries (DJI Spark) are dead, I managed to buy a second hand one but DJI no longer sell the Spark battery! (MB1). So the Spark is useless given limited life of batteries and DJI's failure to keep selling replacements.
Is this you Andy???😮 I follow your research tips channel and bought your materials, thanks so much for all your insights on writing research papers. I'm trying to fix my drone battery and here you are on my screen.. initially thought RU-vid had a glitch.😂
Sadly DJI no longers makes batteries for the mavic AIR. Any recommendations for reputable sellers of these batteries? Given their lifespan of 2-3 years getting a used, legacy or refurbished battery at nearly the cost of a new mavic mini seems questionable. Sucks that DJI Mavic Air 1 batteries are both proprietary and discontinued. I've had this paperweight drone for over a year just sitting. Can't stomach buying another from DJI after being left out in the cold.
This is why I am here, waist of time. These are good points but in no use of an actual dead, un chargeable battery. mine was charged when stored and 1 of 3. The other 2 were fine. I have seen where people say that is has discharged too low and all they need is a jump from a separate non smart battery. This has worked before for me but it didn't work this time so I was here looking for a new tip. well off to another video..
What this guy doesn't mention is what if the battery is completely dead, even if you connect the drone to the computer if the drone wont power on because of the dead battery you CAN'T update any firmware 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
Thanks heaps for uploading such a useful video. I’ve just got my first drone and I’ve tried to charge the battery for a couple of days. tech support from the company didn’t happen : ( Thanks to you my battery is now charging.
Thank you very much I recently got my fpv about 4 months ago and my one battery is only charging 75% or three of the dots so I will look on the health of it and see what I can do now do you have any other suggestions be great again thank you for the time and making this thing so educational
you cannot update any firmware at all with the battery dead not ony that the firmware already updated with the working battery so with the other 2x batteries that dont work wont work as you know your drone needs to be powered on it wont work at all
Unfortunately, at least for the Mini 3 Pro, you cannot update the firmware when you want to, as they have removed the ability to roll back to an older one. So the only way is just sit and wait and hope for a new firmware update to even be able to try that fix.. /:
Possible new fix for drone battery not charging. I have a Magic 2 Zoom. This worked for me 100%. The battery would not charge at all. Here is the fix. Take a fully charged battery and rub the flat surface to the flat surface of the battery that won’t charge. I did this in a circular motion for about 10 seconds snd when I hit the button on top of the dead battery a light came on. I was then able to connect the dead battery to the charger and it’s now charging.
Rub the flat surface of what to the flat surface of the battery that won't charge? My battery has 4 flat surfaces by the way.. yours don't? Please elaborate in more detail
I bought the combo, which have three batteries, and I went overseas to study, after half a year when I was back, two of my batteries were dead, and both out of warranty... the last battery now is bloating ...... these batteries are freaking expensive, never known that when I bought the mavic air... Should have been more cautious about it that time... I am warning all my friends whoever wants to buy a dji drone to be aware of it's batteries
same here - but it seems DJI doesn't care -- they want you to buy a new drone every year, just like Apple wants you to buy a new phone every year... I've enjoyed it as a hobby, but I'm moving to racing quads since the batteries are plentiful, and UNIVERSAL!
thanks for this brief explanation sir. but how do you fix the charging problem after updating firm ware. i have two Mavic pro batteries but only one is not charging.
Man, I have been searching far and wide for some good info on these issues, and besides the obvious so-called fixes that rarely work on truly bad batteries there is 0 info. So just for anyone that cannot fix their batteries with the usual tries shown here, the problems with any dead or not charging batteries are 2-fold. First one of the batteries has gone dead and is triggering the lights to flash or do whatever they do to not allow the batteries to get a charge, second thing is the controller on the electronic board has gone the way of the dinosaurs and stopped CONTROLLING. This mostly gives a complete battery. These batteries get hot when charging or using, they are sandwiched together in a 4 pack or so and they transfer heat from one to the other. The batteries are not smart it's the electronic board that is smart until it is not. So, if you have skills open them up and test for shorts on the board, also test each cell for charging, at 4V plus for the Phantoms. The others should be similar. Peace.
Major screw up on my part. I just got a brand new drone and reading up on instructions on how to use, and first thing it guided me to do was to plug in my batteries to charge them. Well, wouldn't you know it, my cell phone type c charging cable was laying right there so I plugged it in to new drone battery charger and pluged the brand new battery intobit. shortly thereafter I read instructions which urged to use the cable that came with the Drone. unfortunately I could only get flashing lights from that point on.
I have 6 battery for two dji mavic pro platinum. All battery just blinking 1 of light and shut of again when charging. The battery never charge since I bought it about one and half year ago brand new in the box. Cause I use another dji mavic pro for play and learn. Just a week ago I opened the new drones but the battery would not charging. How do I fix it? Thanks.
Hey guys... I just got my E99 and I ran into a problem. I can't get my lithium batteries to charge. I'm using the li po usb cables it came with. When I plug it in, the red light comes on for less than a minute. And when I leave it to charge for an hour or two, the battery is still not charged when plugged into the drone, whose lights are blinking with low battery signal. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your input...
So lets say I have a dead battery that is not charging, you say put it in the drone.. so I put it in the drone.. It's dead, what does this accomplish, It's not like the drone can hold 2 batteries.
i just got some "new" batterys from the store, however one of them already was broken, all 4 lights is blinking when i try to charge it up, and acording to the manual fro dji mini2 this is doe to the charger detecting that the battery are damaged. when inspecting the battery i descoverd its production year for all 3 batterys I have gotten with my new drone is 2018!!! meaning they are allready 3-4years old! acording to what you say about age, should I then take all 3 batterys to the store and make them give me 3 new batteryes even thou the charger only say that one of them is dammage? the drone has never been used, as I got it for about one month ago and the first time i tryed to charge i had to give it back to the store as 2 of the batterys had the same problem, they gave me 2 new once ofter a monthe and apparently its the same problem with one of them now.
Just got my Spark. the Go4 app says it indeed does need an update. However, my drone was shipped with such a low battery the unit will not power on long enough to connect for the duration of an update. If that's what it needs, how can I nurse it to enough power to update?? thanks, Kevin
Hi, I dropped my drone in a river, the baterry now won't charge, when I put it in the charging hub the LED lights flash. I have a DJI Mini 2. Any ideas what I can do?
🚨 My Mini 2 batteries sat for about six months, and they totally drained, and now only three out of five will except a charge. I was hoping that you were going to talk about that
I have a dji mini 2 . The controller was fully charged and when i went to go fly it the controller won't power up . Can't charge it . Tried everything cord I have . Ideas ?
Ok nice..but as your text say..my battery dont charge..When i put battery in charger, red lamp turn on..the 4 green indicator lights dont light up, only if i have the battery on charger they get on..but few seconds later they turn off..Help, what to do..can i reset battery ?
Bro my mavic air bettery show 100% charge and i fly my drone soo mid air bettery level is dropping 0% and aircraft are forced land to same sport RTH not working how to fix?
Hey Andy, big thank you for your web site and being on youtube. I finnally found tips and good informations on how a drone's camera works and how to manage it. This make me feel not alone with the jugger effect and choppy footage. I am now more relaxed lol, and will for shure, practice and practice, just like I did when I started in photography years ago.... Thank's again i will keep on touch to watch your new stuff! Eric Gagnon
1 of my mavic air 2 batteries had 1 percent left I plugged all 3 in and only 2 charged up and 1 of the 3 is completely dreaded I tried charging it by its self and nothing only has around 24 charges on it help.
Autel sucks! I have a X Star Premium that has never been out of the case. Battery dead and Autel no longer sup[ports this $850 drone from Best Buy! Surfed online but cannot locate a new battery!
IMHO DJI batteries are Chinese junk. All three of mine are dead as a Dodo. 2 were dead out of the box brand new.I didn't use the 3rd one for a few months, guess what as dead as dead. Absolute junk.
