I’d just like to say I love how vibrant your paint schemes are. Seriously I wish I could get that effect on mine, they just look so appealing to look at!
That void marine is dammed tasty. A really nice mix of 40k Marines and The Enclave from Fallout with maybe a little Big Daddy added in. Now all I need is a decent 3d printer.
"I'll never have enough of these..." feels like an accidental challenge to the internet. Edit: Yes, those massive BFG ships were metal, and balancing them could be a right pain. If any game would massively (pun very much intended) benefit from a plastic update, it's this one.
As someone who recently performed the arduous task of getting an old metal Hellion model based and painted, I know this pain. I didn't even bother with a flight stand, not that I could since the plastic stand had apparently broken off with the connection point irretrievably stuck on the underside of the model. Instead, as befit the basing scheme for my Dark Eldar army, I held the model up by a clipped off chunk of sprue. (The idea is the Hellion is crashing through a tangle of rusty metal jutting from the ground). No fewer than three contact points stick the model to the sprue, to keep it all together. It's almost as top-heavy as I am, so I glue two washers under the base to lower the center of gravity. It wobbles a bit, because the washers stick just a bit too far down, but the model at least doesn't tip over anymore.
I didn’t know wizkids made paintable transformers models so I saw if they made Soundwave and bought it, their my favorite character in any of the transformers universes, and no I don’t know why
Bloody hell you did a nice job on those Rogue Trader space marines! They are lovely. I wasn't sure at first if I was looking at original metal or a repro.
You might be right about it being pleasant to not have to paint gunpla, but boy do they look so much more in their element after panel lining. You don't even need the pens from creos, just use your favourite, toughest paint and a toothpick to clean the edges. Wonderful stuff.
Heck yeah a Gunpla! I always wondered if you would enjoy these, they're kind of halfway between Transformers toys and Warhammer modeling. And some of them can even transform!
Yes, the big Battlefleet Gothic battleships where in fact metal. The basic Imperial and Chaos Cruisers were in fact the only non-metal minis the entire game had (outside of Forgeworld, of course). But the ships usually were balanced pretty well, so there usually weren't any big problems. Of course, the danger of the stick snapping was there... but at that point you'd usually just pin it and continue on. Such a fun game... I miss Battlefleet Gothic.
Having collected most of BFG the first time around, yes, all the battleship size minis are a bit terrifying to perch on the flight stands. So far only one (a desolator) managed to break its stand, and that got pinned so all is well again. Tbh I'm not sure of the Imperials or the Chaos are more scary to mount - a despoiler is a serious chunk of metal...
In all honesty, apart from a Chaplain, the entire force that's currently finished is in the group shot here. Although I was planning on doing a video on them once enough of them are painted :)
Hey wib! I love your lamenters scheme and would like to recreate it myself, what colours did you use for the chips and scratches on the armour? Thanks!
In regards to your apprehension about large metal ships on small plastic rods, Wib, may I point you to the Battleships and larger of Ground Zero Games' Full Thrust? Those are about the same size, but not the same scale, as the BFG ships. And the FT ships come on small rods. Ok, the rods are only plastic for ships of Escort Cruiser size and smaller, but still...
We have three fleets in my household, FSE and NSL are the two main ones, and at about 12k points per fleet. The IJN is the smaller fleet. And I am working on a home brew fleet.
"You don't wanna know how many marines I'm putting yellow base coats on now." Given I've just started a Tale of Gamers that over 6 months will see me build and paint a 3000 point Horus Heresy Imperial Fists army, I'd wager 'not as many as I have/will have to' lol
The terminator is not a mk1 their is zeeo in lore references to that armor being called mk 1 it isnt even called a terminator armor in any point in lore its called a xo suit and it was only in lore for like a few weeks before it was retconed out of existence
