Dr. Andrea Campbell, from St. Thomas University's Institute for Communications, Entertainment, and Media, talks about the role of women in American society as it relates to the portrayal of witches on popular television.
St thomas university portraying apostasy of a sign of progress??? Apostasy is the sign of the end times... this university demonstrates this fact clearly.
This is a great message. I also want to add that Samantha's mom was a feminist while Samantha chose not to be. She humbly set her powers aside to raise a family with a mortal. You can say that it was her choice and wasn't forced on her, and yet it was if you look at the perspective of society as a whole. Anyway, great video.
I really loved this overview. Well done!! Would love to see further sequels of this, esp with respect to how magical women are portrayed in movies. In my opinion, the silver screen is far behind in terms of portraying magical women in a positive light. They are either shown as evil and/or eventually overcome/destroyed by some masculine power
Well I guess I am glad that people are commenting on my video although many commentors seem to have missed the piont. 1138thz in particular - seems focused on my appearance rather than my words. My argument is not about men but about society - not the smae thing - and how social response has changed over time. While in the past powerful women have been perceived as threatening but how that has changed and that change can be seen in the changing depictions of "magical" women.
@1138thz I'm not Wiccan and quite frankly, I'm not fond of some Wiccans. I stated in my comment that I was Pagan. I am not Neo-Pagan nor am I influenced by Gaia related studies. I am Pagan in the sense that I revere Nature. However, I believe in what I can see, touch and experience rather than hidden entities, scapegoat evil forces and imaginary gods.
Using this level of false equivalency to make a statement seem more literal than it was meant to be taken is almost as wild as commenting on a 12 year old comment and thinking you did something. Go touch grass, goofy.
Thank you for this video! I would love to know more. I watched your video on mythic folk-heroes and I find that your research is extremely relevant to my interests as a film-maker/animator.
