Wicklewood Windmill was last worked in 1941, after which it was left to deteriorate. On 19th July 1977, Norfolk Windmills Trust took the mill into its care following its acquisition by Norfolk County Council. By this time the mill had fallen into an advanced state of dereliction and there were real fears that any further collapse of the structure would make a restoration completely impracticable.
The mill was restored by the millwright John Lawn between 1979 and 1981. This film shows the sail frames being reinstalled on 23rd October 2012 during a more recent restoration.
