Lol, I just thought there was a chick there that is really into hill climbing and wanted everyone to JAM IT man JAM IT!! Yeah, I think they just looped the sound from a run.
Used to drive by that area as we went to southern Utah. Now it is full of track houses and southern Utah is like Disneyland with bikes and 4wheelers. Not sure any of this has been an improvement.
Wished it still was that way… Utah has been destroyed by growth. I remember this event. Was a blast.. we thought the drive from bountiful was far… lol.
I grew up with Kerry Peterson’s kids. He was a badass, and still is. I went with them to the Tracy and Washington hillclimbs in the mid 90’s. His sons were very successful hill climbers as well. Cool family and great video. Thanks for putting this on the interwebs! Kerry, his son Robie and his youngest son Brett.
One of my heroes as a young man, and he doesn't even know it. My mom was one of the few very few women doing hill climbs and hair scrambles back in the early '70s. She was married to a guy called Weyburn speak everyone called him Zeke, he is the one that got her into it. When I was a kid my uncle tie rags to branches through the paths that the cattle/sheep had made in the woods and every weekend about 15 guys would come over and race through there. The sound of those two strokes made me feel like it was Christmas my birthday I lost my virginity and got a brand new car all at once.
I grew up near there and attended that event MANY times. There's house's everywhere there now. The ruts are still visible on the hill in places from when they moved the course to more difficult areas. Alas no more hill climbs there, but the hang gliding and paragliding have been awesome. Ya have to go to croyden now (I think )
I grew up in Holladay. My wife, I and my friend watched Carry Peterson climb it in '81. It was KUED that was there filming. All those years have not been kind to the Salt Lake Valley, IMHO.

When I watch classic footage like this, I like to imagine time travel being real and all of a sudden someone shows up with a modern bike and says, "watch this..."
One of my best friends in highschool was named Bill Harrison but he wasn't no 270lbs but he did love his Harleys and classic Pontiacs I miss the days of rolling around in his 1970 Catalina. So lucky to have had the chance to work on those cars and have so much fun with them especially graduating in 2004 most of that old school muscle car stuff wasn't really around it was all Hondas Toyotas and Subarus
And now fast forward to the present time Red Bull pays its riders millions of dollars to do these kind of hills and other sponsors, these men didn't have nothing equipment wise or safety wise but yet they did the sport and made it what it is now
We had to ride to hill climbing around Tracy Calif mid 70s on mostly stock bikes. Ride them there and go for it. At the time the XL 350 Honda single was great for that, stay in second gear as long a you could.
Right? Man, it sucks that gays, immigrants, and all those people that are a different color and have lifestyles different than us have demanded to be treated like equals. It just ruined the country for us real men. USA!! USA!! 🙄
Amen Brother. Anything they touch goes to shit! They all need a very unpleasant, lifetime memorable dose of humility and accountability. They're all Delusionally Grandiose, and need their bubbles Bursted. Lastly, they're all their own biggest fans. They will all meet their match one day. If that day never come in their lifetime, they'll all have to answer to their maker.
@@fjb666 That's horrible. Yeah, when you're about to wipe out on a quad sometimes it's a reaction to put your feet down, but you never want to put your legs down while on a 4 wheeler. I've had my back calves shredded on a 3 wheeler because of that. Then again, I wasn't wearing proper gear. It's so important to wear gear. 👍
lol Have you ever found yourself looking at an elder with awe and wonderment as they conquered things that would shatter the lesser youth? Have You ever caught yourself saying, "Damn, We don't make them like that anymore!"? Well, have you ever wondered why We don't make them like that anymore? Because We are not Allowed to make them like that anymore... I was a kid watching folks get maimed and torn apart on bikes, yet, I too followed those tire treads into Traction. Sadly as Safety becomes a paramount pursuit and bubble wrapping society is well under way, We are a dying breed. Toughness is being labeled Toxic or Counter to the Sex..lol.. I just want to give a nod to the rest of us long forgotten Men and Women willing to put more than just our Pride on the line in our pursuit of entertainment and personal goal crushing achievements. Long live us busted up Bikers, well, with ample Beer and meds being provided of course. XP
