More proof that maybe with the exception of Prince, no other professional musician played as many different instruments as impressively as Jonesy did/does.
Top 3 maybe Top 5, so tough to choose. There’s so many Great songs. I believe my favorites are depending on my mood at the time. All of Zep 1 is spectacular
Yes!!!!! My ultimate favorite song!!! This song always gives me the chills! The music is just like from another world or something! I can put it on repeat and listen to it over and over! The best song EVER! I knew Dee would like this one.
It does have a very Indian, south Asian feel. The actual region of Kashmir It's a area of dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947, and between India and China since 1962.
Hey Chod! Celebration Day from the one and done show at the 02 Arena in 2007. Tickets for the 20,000 lucky fans were won in a lottery that 20,000,000 people were in! Jason Bonham on drums blew everyone away. The show went by so fast, but it was magical. LED ZEPPELIN FOREVER!!!🔈🔉🔊😎
Was lucky enough to see the same lineup of members @MSG Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Concert on May 24th 1988 The entire concert started at 1pm Led Zeppelin didn't take the Stage till approx 1:10am and opened their set with this Song
That was an incredible night, I`d waited for so long to see them. Zepp were the best band I`d ever seen. Honarable mentions go to Foreigner (I saw them again last night in Cardiff) Elp and Paul Rodgers.
That’s string sound is Jimmy Page on guitar and John Paul Jones on a synthesizer. It’s actually being played in two different keys, but sounds so DAAAMN good!!🤤🤤
I saw Led Zeppelin 🐐 my senior year in high school in 1970!🔥💥 First concert, first hit of acid!🤯🤪 Still smile everytime I hear anything off their first two albums.💯🤗❤✌
this song has 2 simultaneous time signatures. the drums are in 4/4 and the other instruments are in 3/4. the pattern goes for 12 beats and starts again. part of what makes it so interesting to listen to.
When Page and Plant toured together in the 90s, they played mostly Zeppelin stuff, and they took out a small orchestra from Egypt with them, who did all the string and horn parts on this. It was, as you can imagine, spine-tinglingly good!
This is another amazing song from Led Zeppelin. They are my favourite band by miles,it’s difficult to say what songs are best because of their range of songs that on different days just make me feel better! Most of their songs are now over 50 years since they were released and I still think they have a modern feel to them. Anyway guys love watching you on RU-vid and keep up your great work 👌👌👏👏❤️❤️
They have a live version with accompaniment by a group from India playing on stage with them. Just amazing. Great reaction to a great piece. Can't call this rock, it's way beyond that.!!!
If just for your ears, check out the live version from Celebration Day at The 02 Arena, the 3 surviving members in their 60’s, excellent sound and you have to see and hear what Jason Bohham did to those drums, you’ll see!
Epic. The thing with Zep is there is no weak member. Every member is a master. Not many bands can say that. Rush, Cheap Trick...........bout it. Such a great song.
MUST do celebration day live version of this. It sticks close to the script (doesn’t become a “jam” so to speak) and is the last time they would perform live.
Ok, now you're in my wheel house. My top drummer hero ever.... "John "Bonzo" Bonham". He is the single reason I never played anything but "Ludwig". "Alex Van Halen" would be the second. I saw them In Saint Louis in Kiel Auditorium. They cancelled after we got there because Robert had a throat issue and we had to fly back down two weeks later.. Robert Plant said "I think its' been a long time since we rock and rolled" after apologizing and naturally we roared!
Please do a reaction to Kashmir from the Celebration Day Concert. An amazing version with John's son Jason playing drums. It is the last time the 3 original members played live together and might be the last time ever.
Zep is at the top (along with the Beatles & The Beach Boys) when it comes to pushing the limits of recording/production that was available at the time! All of the legendary early guitar players were constantly modifying their guitars & amps to get the sound they wanted because the equipment was designed to sound clean, not overdriven and distorted. I remember getting a Vox Super Beatle amp when I was 16 (1974) that was several years old thinking I would get that dirty sound. Fortunately my dad knew how to modify it!
It’s fun to play on guitar, and even if you’re a week player like me it still sounds great. It amazes me that a song like this came out of nothing from these guys, they are geniuses.
Violin can be "intense" Dee.... Chod, I think you both need some Jean Luc Ponté. Kashmir is an absolute masterpiece. The whole band took us then and many since to "another place and time". They do that so very well.... Example? Physical Graffiti
Brings to mind a 17 year old me laying down across the back seat of a Ford Cortina on a sunny summers day on a trip through the Devon countryside. Out of my head of course. Happy memory. :)
You should do the live version oh and the one they did in 2007 Celebration event. It was the last time they got together John Bonham’s son Jason played drums. He plays just like his dad it’s freaky how much he plays like dad. Also the guys are older late 50’s early 60’s maybe and they freaking captivated me all over again. Led Zep is still the best band of the 70’s. Kashmir is a masterpiece! There was no violin it’s Jonsey on keyboards and Jimmy and his masterful guitar playing🥰
Suddenly I feel like, really cold. 10:42...and a little strung out. We've all been there, glad mine weren't on camera lol. Beautiful lady. Beautiful guy too with the true Zep.
Fav country artist: George Strait. Fav rapper: (2-way tie). Tupac/Eminem Fav R/B artist: Al Green Fav vocalist: (4-way tie). Cornell, Mercury, Houston, Krauss. Fav artist(s) of all time: The Mighty Led Zeppelin! 🤲🏻 down!
Seems I've seen some drummers say this is a fairly complicated rhythm that Bonham is doing on the drums. There's a video devoted to this whole song and the drum rhythms he is using. With music charts and all.
Physical Graffiti was my favorite Led Zepplin album, and this was one of my favorite songs on that album. Such a great band. Four members all the way. They just couldn't go on when John died. And we all understood and were heart broken. 1980. A dark day.
love how the tempo of this song grabs me and tosses me to and fro. No headphones yet, you're missing out. Led zeppelin 111 is my favorite album, Kashmir favorite song. Nice you are morphing into better quality music
Thought she'd heard the beat... Probably "Come with Me" PDiddy Godzilla movie. Wonder what she'll say when she hears "The Immigrant Song" official live😉
Well I'll be dammed.! *JUST* listened to your L.A. Woman reaction by The Doors and I mentioned, they were my 2nd fav band ever behind Led Zeppelin, and *Wallahhh* here I find this..... life is peculiar, lol...
To help you guys: The introduction of Rage Against the Machine's Wake Up song features virtually the same Kashmir Riff and Wake Up is used in the final scene of the first Matrix movie. That's why Keanu Reeves' connection to the music riff. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ieqUM667j8M.html
*OK Chod* I GOTTA DO IT.! For the love of god my friend, show *DEE* some LIVE ZEPPELIN from the 1973 MSG 2 day concert.! She's GOT TO SEE them live.! Please.!!!!!
It's funny Chod that you mention Janis Joplin, because in that live performance of "Ball and Chain" at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival she does a thing with her voice in one part of the song that Robert Plant is known for, And Led Zepplin didn't form until 1969 I believe. Up until then, Robert Plant was basically an unknown. That tells me that he may have heard Joplin and probably copied some of her singing chops. I wouldn't be surprised anyway
Everytime I hear this song. I think of the movie Fast Times at Ridemont High Being the first song that Jennifer Jason Leigh's date has on his Playlist. Priceless
I'm a great-grandfather. I've been wearing Nike Monarchs as running shoes for as long as they have been available. I have bad knees and can't run anymore but I walk three miles a day. They rock....but, they break down after about six months or 480 miles. I'm sixty seven.
Led Zeppelin Robert Plant - vocals, harmonica Jimmy Page - electric, acoustic, lap steel and slide guitars, production John Paul Jones - bass guitar, mandolin, acoustic guitar, keyboards John Bonham - drums, percussion AS YOU CAN SEE NO VIOLIN.....
The sounds comes from a keyboard and 1/2 step progression on the guitar. But instead of standard tuning of the strings (EADGBE) the guitar is tuned to GADDAG. Once you switch the tuning and play it, you get the sound even without the keyboard backing. I can play this song , but I’ve never played it at a gig. This song sounds right only if Robert Plant is singing. Alice In Chains does a decent cover backed by an entire orchestra. It’s on RU-vid. Search “Alice in Chains Kashmir” However, it still lack’s Plant’s vocals.
P Diddy sampled this song in 1998. I read that John Paul Jones brought in session musicians for the strings and horn sections of this recording while he played the mellotron.
Robert was one of the first vocalists to start using compression on vocals in the early 70s. This allowed him to be as powerful with a whisper as a total scream. The mix would level the edges.
