Mrs Cruncher keeps me very busy with repairs as she seems to love breaking things. Interesting way of sensing water level though and much easier to manufacture than I float switch I expect. Loved the little potting box and it’s surprising how much heat the epoxy gives off. Cheers Graham

The three spousal words we all dread: "Could you just .... ?" They inevitably result in a shed load of work, often ending in either failure, vast expense or spousal displeasure. You did well with this one, Chris. Interesting water sensor, though. By the way, the rate of reaction (e.g. epoxy setting) will roughly double for every 10 degree celsius rise in temperature. For a fast setting epoxy, the larger the quantity, the faster it will set as a result.
@allthegearnoidea6752
@allthegearnoidea6752 2 года назад
Not as frightening as the two little words “I do” That epoxy is very fast I prefer the standard stuff as not enough mixing time for the rapid.

@BoB4jjjjs 2 года назад
@@allthegearnoidea6752 I keep the 15 minute setting stuff, it gives time to alter things and mix it well, even then it can be touch and go if it is difficult work.

Happy Wife, happy life. That's why we do it. Good, and interesting video. The water level sensor explained as you did now makes a bit more sense to me. 4 times I've fixed Mrs C's GHD hairdryer. It paid dividends each time...

got to keep the wifes water features working cos as they get older they tend to dry up a little and for some reason they object to you getting a newer model in.

The little metal peg at 5:47 is indeed a water sense , if water is not present at the level the peg is at in the bowl it turns off the motor. It is sensitive to the capacitance of your finger so it turns the motor on. Aren't we all living on borrowed time? Looks like the potting box was indeed a good fix. As long as you get a new pump identical to the old old here and if the old one craps out just switch in the new one and the Mrs. will never be the wiser,ha,ha!

You know we have these make work jobs and probably not worth repairing. But sometimes the joy is just the work itself. Very clever the water sensor works very reliably. Thanks for watching regards Chris

Very nice Fix Chris I have done similar fixes often with that Glued Heat shrink dont how well that would work under water but it certainly made a good fix for joining two cables

Well i think you fixed that for a couple of years or more. What a neat little box you made, handy for one off projects or re-creating broken plastic parts. I would have gone really cheap and use an old film container, fill it with thick grease to slow the water down :-D Nice little osciliscope, handy like a multimeter :-D Smashing video chris, the misses is happy, you are safe lol.

To be honest I did look for an alternative container but nothing came to hand. I bet those film containers are like rocking horse teeth now LOL. To be honest I do really like the Owon and that’s saying something for a Tektronix fanboy like me. You keep safe thanks for watching Chris

Hi , Chris, sorry about delay, forgot on Tuesday and closed on a Wendsday , I have a look at my TP1 and there is only an instruction book with no circuit diagram in it , instructions might be useful though if you can fix yours ?

Great video! Unfortunately many companies in recent years have gone to a soy-based insulation which rodents love to eat.

Women don't understand these things and it shows. Nor do Relatives! I once had an old Telephone Answering Machine with the phrase 'it won't be much' - it was not much but getting it apart and together was. It was someone from church and they paid in Chocolate. And it was Fruit and Nut and I am allergic to nuts. And 'can you set up my DVD/Sateline or whatever - for nothing as it is a 'Friend'. I now refuse to give my time for free!
