Hi Mark, thanks for the video. Amazing explanation. Does it work for OSX Catalina too? I tried, and WiFi seems to work fine, but the bluetooth not really. Also wanted to ask, if it's ok to boot my Hackintosh having both Bluetooth devices, because for some reason it only shows up the one that it's built into the motherboard, which also have a different provider other than Broadcom. Looked it up inside System Information -> Bluetooth. Thanks in advance
Hey, the BDC PCM94360CD used in the first method works in a laptop? Obviously getting a NGFF adapter... Edit: I've already used a BCM94360NG (similar to the second method) but I wanna get a better wifi speed
Hi Martin, thanks very much for the video! I'm thinking of going route 2 with a BCM94360NG module I seen recommended. Do you happen to know if the mini-itx boards, such as the Gigabyte x570 I Aorus Pro Wifi has the same size housing/module as the ATX boards?
Thanks Martin, very well put together and very helpful. I still haven't made the move to a hackintosh as I'm kind of ok for the moment with my 2013 iMac, will likely decide if I make that jump once I know what Apple announces in the coming months. Cheers! 🙌😊
Thank you. If it's still working for you, than it of course would be a waste of money and resources. :) I'm also very keen on what Apple has up it's sleeve, especially about ARM and Mac's.
yes, ARM would be an interesting move for Apple, although I fear that would also mean that the hardware would become useless after it's discontinued as it will be all proprietary hardware, I doubt we could re-use the hardware with Linux for example to extend the life of the hardware a bit more. I secretly wish that Apple would add support for Ryzen CPUs 😉
While installing Mac os Monterey, it says 'Bluetooth Fatal Error' on the installer logs and the install stops at 12 minutes remaining. Please help me fix this.
Hi Martin, great video! But going the 2nd route (because I have a Lenovo thinkcentre m93p tiny and a Broadcom BCM94352 card) I couldn't get BT to work on Catalina 10.15.4 (wifi works fine). I tried both ways: first coping the kexts to clover/kexts/other and when that showed no success to library/extensions. But still bluetooth shows no reaction. Any idea how to solve this? Would be highly appreciated! Cheers
I'm using a FV-T919 Wireless Dual Band 1750M BT4.0 BCM94360CD card in a ASUS Z370A setup running 10.15.2 on a Vanilla install. WiFi and Bluetooth did indeed work out of the box with no extra kext, but only sort-of. I have dropouts in Bluetooth (don't use the WiFi much, as I'm wired on Ethernet, but use it for Airdrop and the likes). Bluetooth mouse and AirPods have dropouts, very annoying. The mouse I have now connected via the included USB-dongle instead to make it stable, but still need stable AirPod connection. Any ideas?
Danke schoen (from Australia) - I'm really stuck between choosing an ITX vs ATX, but I think the flexibility of just adding a pcie card for wifi (and later thunderbolt) is probably the easiest option. Although both are available if you choose ITX carefully, I think stability (maintenance) is easier if seperate pcie card route is taken.
That's for sure. I was also drawn into buidling an ITX system. In the end I decided for ATX, because I needed airflow and cooling headroom for overclocking. And that's totally worth it, as my system is able to run cool even on a high overclock for both GPU and CPU as well as the RAM.
@@MartinGuder it was the 2009 model. the one that had the nvidea graphics 9400m. i also tried a wifi card from an old white imac and that worked too. still got them
Hello! Great video. I'd be very interested in purchasing this product for my Hackintosh. I'm wondering, though, if this device is connected to the USB 2.0 port on the motherboard, would there be speed issues? Reason I'm asking is I know that max speed for USB 2.0 is 480Mbps (in theory), however, due to protocol overhead and hardware inefficiencies, the practical max speed is closer to 320Mbps. I have a pretty fast internet connection (500Mbps download and 100Mbps upload). Wondering how this product works, in terms of speed? Much appreciated! Have a great day.
Hi. Then you are better off using LAN. I have LAN in permanent use rather than WiFi. And yes your math is right and your WiFi card will probably be the bottleneck, if the router is fast enough.
Hi, thanks for the great video! Do we need two anttenas to get wifi work? I bought BCM94352Z and followed the instructions you provided, but after rebooting, wifi icon in the top bar says "No hardware installed" and didn't work. Do you think you have any solution on this issue? Here is my environment. (CPU: Core i5 8700K. GPU: RX580 Memory: Samsung 970 NVMe M.2 MotherBoard: ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) Z390)
For this card just one antenna is used for WiFi. The other one for Bluetooth. That the hardware is not recognized at all, hints to a faulty card or wrong installation. Did you copied the right kexts?
@@MartinGuder Thanks for the quick reply. So with the message, "No hardware installed", it even won't work with antennas right? I've copied five kexts, FakePCIID.kext/FakePCIID_Broadcom_WiFi.kext/BrcmPatchRAM2.kext/BrcmNonPatchRAM2.kext/BrcmFirmwareData.kext, to EFI/Clover/kexts/Other. And tried moving some kexts to /Library/Extensions as you suggested but this also didn't work. So maybe hardware problem...? I still doubt about it though. I wish to check if the wifi/BT module is properly recognized via BIOS but I found no such function.. Do you know any way to check whether the module is defected or not?
Maybe try to reinstall the card, if nothing helps. A look at the system profiler should at least show, if there is something installed on the PCIe slot. Maybe take a look, if a PCIe slot is deactivated accidentially? Do you replaced the other card or installed an additional adapter card with the BCM chip?
Hi Would a 2006 module work or its useless ? Ive got bcm94311MCAG laying around with correspondent Bluetooth airport parts too, all came from an old imac. To be used in asus z370p and waiting for the i5 9600k to arrive. Thanks in advance And thanks for the hackintosh videos 👍🏻
Thanks. Glad to help. I think it could work. Just browse the linked list in the video description. Maybe it's on there and if so you maybe need to install a kext.
Thanks for the video will option 1 work in an m.2 wifi port? I have a mini itx and only have 1 pcie port. Iv'e tried route 2 but I cant get bluetooth working with a different broadband card
Martin Guder Actually already tried. Did not work. I just bought a more recommended card like the one you have on here the Dell one and it worked perfect. Thanks for the video. Helped a lot.
I have been using this card successfully for wifi and bluetooth on my Hackintosh. However, I have not been able to get wifi or bluetooth when booting into Windows. Do you dual boot, and if so, do you have drivers for the BCM94360CD?
Thanks for a great video! You mention that you can use a separate module for the Windows boot in the first route. But wouldn't it be possible to use the same PCIe module for Windows as well? Or am I misunderstanding?
Sure you can. I just did it that way, as there is good driver support for the already existing module and it is the easier route to just put in another PCIe card instead of disassembling the other motherboard first. And the faster Broadcom chip doesn't fit into the compartment of the other onboard chip. The Broadcom can of course also be used instead of the Asus one.
Thanks for the video, I went the first route and cant get my cards to stop interfering with eachother. Do you know how I can completely disable the onboard wifi card?
In macos, every boot is different, sometimes it works sometimes it has a macaddress like 00:00:00:00 and doesn’t work, sometimes WiFi works and Bluetooth doesn’t. I think it’s cause I didn’t manage to clean disable the onboard card. On windows i know how, device manager, right click, disable.
@@JamesMeyerMusic If MAC address is 00:00:00:00, then it's obviously not providing the right access privileges. I don't have this problem with my built-in wifi, so it would be interesting to see, what your WiFi cards model is.
Martin Guder my motherboard is the msi z370m gaming pro ac with the intel AC 8265. That’s the card I want to disable. I have the same pcie original apple card that you suggested. The problem is disabling the onboard card because things work perfectly sometimes and other times I reboot and it doesn’t. Did you disable your onboard ac for the pcie to work?
@@JamesMeyerMusic Don't have to disable my card. You just have to find out, which port is your BT/WiFi card and then you can maybe disable it by adding a boot argument to clover. Here is an article on how to do that: matthi.coffee/2016-07-03-bluetooth-z170n/
Sollte eigentlich auf jedem Mainboard funktionieren, dass auch einen WiFi-Chip verbaut hat. Formfaktor ist glaube immer gleich. Ansonsten einfach mal auseinander schrauben und schauen, was drin steckt.
Dear Martin, After trying the pcie route, I recently changed out the wifi/bt chip for a compatible one. When installing it Wifi works like a charm but BT still doesn't show up. I changed the kexts like you said when it isn't working but still no Bluetooth. I don't give a damn about the wifi because is use ethernet but I want the bluetooth to connect to my headphones. Any ideas on how to get the Bluetooth working MoBo: gigabyte X470 Gaming 7 rev1.0 CPU: Ryzen 2700x GPU: EVGA 1070ti Memory: Samsung 970 EVO NvmeSSD Thanks in advance
@@MartinGuder mine is a broadcom BCM94352Z 802.11ABG/N, 802.11AC and Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Card. It states that is it compatible with mac os 10.8 and later
@@bjornsymoens6539 OK. One thing you can try is to copy those to the Library/Extensions folder. Maybe that helps, but I never had to do that, as everything runs fine. Hopefully the BT module is not broken. Can you check under Windows, if the BT is shown in device manager?
I followed all the steps but my motherboard, Gigabyte z390 Ultra, doesn’t give me the option to flip the cable in the USB slot. In the 8 pin connector one of the pins is just plastic and won’t accept any pin which won’t work putting it upside down. Do you have any tips on how I could get the Bluetooth working without flipping the connector 180 degrees? WiFi worked right away but I can’t get Bluetooth to work :/
Well, that's strange. Did you tried F_USB2 and F_USB1? At least from photos online it should work. One solution would be to cut the cable and switch polarity, the other: getting rid of the plastic "thing". Or get another adapter cable, if that's possible.
Martin Guder Currently my USB 2.0 slots aren’t working so I think that might be one reason it won’t connect. My usb 3.0, 3.1, and usb C port work though. And yeah I tried both usb slots on my motherboard and neither worked. Do you know how to get USB 2.0 to work by any chance?
There's only one way for me to orient the cable into both the motherboard and the adapter, could there be another reason why I have wifi, but no bluetooth?
Saw a video about a guy upgrading his Mac Pro 5.1 lately. Watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-naqLQz7TAcs.html Unfortunately he had some issues with Bluetooth disconnects from time to time. Maybe an extra PCIe card is the solution in conjunction with a second USB PCIe card (if there is no USB 2.0 on the mainboard).
Thank you for your video, it has helped me a lot, however, I can't manage to get bluetooth working. I have tried with all te kexts in refi folder, and also, some of them in the extensions folder exactly as you mentioned but although wifi is perfectly working, bluetooth is not: I would be very grateful if you could help me. Greetings
Martin Guder Thank you a lot for answering me, I appreciated a lot. I am using the Fenvi FV T919 BLUETOOTH and WiFi card which has a Broadcom chip. In some videos I have watched from this card, it shows it should work without any kext because it works perfectly with Hackintosh and Mac without drivers, Keats, etc. However, as it has a Broadcom chip I have followed all your steps but the same problem. WiFi perfectly working but Bluetooth, although in system preferences, in usb is detected, in Bluetooth one is not. In Bluetooth in system preferences shows the integrated Bluetooth which doesn’t work and I can’t manage to get it working, so airdrop, etc, doesn’t work. Undoubtedly, the Usb front panel header in the motherboard is Connected.Thank you and I would Appreciate if you could help me. Greetings.
Martin Guder Thank you, I have already checked the USB injector kext and I have replaced it by a new one. The problems stills happening. I cannot rotate the usb header because it only fits in one way, as it is. All my kexts are up-to-date and I have tried with all the kexts you showed on the video as well as some more of other places. I don’t know what to do. However thank you very much for your helping, I hope I can solve the problem with your help. Greetings.
@@ernesto7133 How many USB devices are connected. As the motherboard just has a maximum number of PCIe lanes to utilize for USB connectivity. So extra USB peripherals like added USB ports could be counter productive.
Not yet, but read already some articles on Tonymacx86. When I'm back on track from surgery I'll give it a deeper look and will do a video on clean install and/or update. But will take some time, until I recover.
Unless someone codes a driver for Intel, it won't work I guess or just with some downsides. Better spend some money on a Broadcom chip and save a ton of time and headaches in the long run. ;)
@@MartinGuderYou can use any laptop with intel integrated graphics, you can check if they support the second route by looking for teardown videos or the mainboard of these laptops on ebay if you can spot an M.2 Wifi/BT (2230) slot. If you want a Hackbook Pro with dicreet graphics go for the Lenovo Laptop ThinkPad E480 with RX 550(800$). I prefer the Lenovo Ideapad 720-15IKB(i5 7200u version 900$, the better version with i7-8550u 1700$), because it has an RX 560 and looks more apple-like, but it isn't available in the US (in Germany where I live it is). What I also find interesting is an All-In-One by Dell (Dell Inspirion 27 7775) which also supports this Wifi module.
Na mal schauen was die Zukunft so bringt.
Has anyone built a Hackintosh with working Thunderbolt 3? None of these Hackintosh videos seem to answer this question. Some say they do, but then they don't show TB3 working.
Don't need it, that's why I didn't do it. There are Thunderbolt PCIe cards out there. IIRC the one by Asus should work. But I would just invest in this, if you really need it. Otherwise it's just burning money.
installed successfully and how select correct smbio and how to install. my config i7 8700 - gigabyte aorous pro WiFi z390- GeForce 1060 - 16gb ram 3000mhz
Correct SMBIOS is usually the one, that is the most similar to yours. I would suggest iMac 18.2 or 18.3 in this case. Bear in mind, that you have to install additional Nvidia web drivers as well as change some more settings in your config plist because of the Nvidia GPU. Not sure what exactly, as I use AMD because of native support.
Dude, just go for Linux with the same hardware and without all the complexity of building a Hackintosh. Have you ever heard of ElementaryOS or DeepinOS ? The first is almost identical to MacOS and I bet that the performance gain you will have from these Linux distro will be much better than MacOS. Especially if you have an Intel CPU then check Clear OS, which is optimized for Intel chips by Intel itself. The latter is superfast, you can check the performance benchmarks on internet.
I get more easy way, just buy some USB Wifi Stick with Mac OS support driver from their company and everything work fine ( I use TENDA U1 USB WIFI STICK and work from Sierra until Mojave )
65 Euro? Ouch, you paid way too much. It cost me about 25 Euros together for NGFF M.2 to mini PCIE adapter and BCM94360CS2 card (doesn't need any drivers) and longer pigtail antenna cable (as original one would not reach the card connector as card is higher on adapter).
Martin Guder yeah, it works without a hitch. I’m from Slovakia and if I’m not mistaken you are from Germany so it should be same price. I bought mine about one year ago too.
@@MartinGuder True. Given a price/value over time/performance ratio of Hackintosh it's a small difference. But still, can get another 256 GB NVME SSD for that price difference, of 2 TB HDD, or better power supply etc. :). Anyway, you are right - it works, in comparison to many strange USB "solutions" some people are willing to try instead of going the way of less resistance.
It works believe me. My Hackintosh is proof. Had some bus 3 months and will work on a follow up video for beginning of May. There you can see it. I‘ll also provide an indepth guide on how to get it up and running.
