wera with security torx on both sides would be ideal

Id go with wera. The leverage alone is better. Id imagine it would take some awful abuse and neglect to shed the sleeves off of them? I'd must agree though the ball end is a bit silly it should have a straight shank.

Solution is to get the 90mm security torx and hex sets, you can use a bit ratchet or hex driver or a power driver to use them. I rarely use L-keys anymore. Wera doesn't make a SAE hex set of that type but Wiha does: Wiha 76096

The wera design has a Very Big flay in these,and its that they didn't have in account that usually,those security torx screws,are found in Very Deep screw Wells(look in all your household appliances).I had this problem changing the screen of my Thermomix and an Rowenta iron.

So they both suck. Ones to short and one is missing more then half the security bits. I bought the wera and it’s pretty good. Just wish it had all the tips

From these two I prefer the Wiha set. You can work around the short length with a cheater bar and use colored heat shrink tubing for identification. The missing security bits cannot be fixed.

We call that “Beavis and Butthead” thinking. It is either cool or it sucks. There are points in between.

I think Titan makes a good security torx set, and it's half the cost of these. It's a shame though because wera and Wiha make good hex keys sets.

Can I recommend PB Swiss Tools PB 411.BH ? They are long, have rounded shaft/body, laser engraved and good steel (best ratio of elasticity/toughness) ; also, all have the tamper-proof/security hole... In my humble opinion, it combines the best features of Wera and Wiha - except the holster.

Those security screws are complete nonsense. Since anyone can get get "security" bits or keys at the bargain bin they provide no security, but a lot of inconvenience. Ball endings are rather convenient for long threads but really suck at torque and they don't work with security screws. Normally i prefer bit inserts for an screwdriver or a folding key set. Those L-keys seem to evaporate from my tool box, all sets had one missing within a few weeks and i don't even like working with them. Bit inserts are much more versatile, i can use them in a screw driver, a ratchet and an electric drill.
@iamfuckingyourwaifuandther2743
Are you planning on doing an in depth stripping torque test like you did with the hex keys because wera claims their torx design helps prevent stripping.

There torx also use the hex plus from my experience with various wera tx20 bits I can conclude they outlast the crescent apex t20 my work usually will provide

I have the Wera security torx, and the part I find most amusing is the magnetizing tool in the holder. I guess that is the "holding function" /s

Wiha is half the price, No more than I have uses for them, half the price makes a difference, and the ball end on the wera stops me on those. Thank you for the review.

I think the ball end is just for using the keys with regular torxs.

Don’t buy the sleeved Wera keys. I have a set and after a short period of use, the printed text is gone on all. In addition, the sleeves are falling off. Once the sleeve is gone, the holder becomes useless too. I am a Wera fan, but in this case it is a fail. Don't buy.

The ball and is so that you can use security Torx driver with non-security Torx regular screw

Security torxs with a ball end.... just make it hollow?
@FishFind3000
@FishFind3000 5 лет назад
Christoffer Jensen it would make it to weak as it necks down for that ball end and if you drill out the center plus the ball your gonna have no metal left.

Wera , for lasertip screwdrivers...Wiha , for precision screwdrivers...PB Swiss for Allen wrenches , long shaft, ball end superior strength.. Bondus, for T-handle Allens...

You didn't use the the weras for the intended purposes...they don't cam out like others would under extreme loads. I can't be the only one that goes to hit a bolt that was tightened by hulk himself and a key will probably slip under load and round out. The Weras are specially built to avoid this and provide better grip in the grooves to avoid cam-out and roundening of the bolt head grooves...

Torx, for everything I use them for, need to be LONG, SKINNY (no plastic sleeve), and certainly NEVER Ball End. Dis-assembling cordless drills and similar. Both of these offerings would fail those requirements. I wouldn't even begin to consider finish, color or font on the holder etc. since the tool itself wouldn't be appropriate to my use. Thanks - Lumpy

So wiha dropped the ball on this. The only positive thing is the case and the non ball end. You criticize wera on their case. If you haven't figured out the color code by the time the finish wears off send them to me. Most torx fasteners I run into are not security, and the ones I do have plenty of room for the wera. Love both brands but wiha dropped the ball on that design. No video needed for me to decide.
@rcg9573

Wiha fit the fasteners better. Wera is just like PB Swiss = both have consistently sloppy loose fits in fasteners. Junk! 😆😞

Or go with Bondhus they are made is USA, and they have long, short, stubby, extra long for every kind of Allan/torx you can think of. Not very pricey either.
