I have the wiim amp. I have the beta software with the room correction. Clever way of where you need to place your phone. They still tweaking it. They recommend turning the sub off and setting the peq to 40 hz to 40000hz for now. And they will be adding the sub room correction as well Ina future update.
@@joentell you have to face the phone towards your face with the mic facing you. The app gives you steps by step instructions. Only iPhone. No android. Since Iphones all use the same mic and androids are to many companies with various mics.
For my home theater. I have denon avr with and 2 emotiva amps for my power. I do not like heos. I find it very quiet and hard to use. I have Spotify and thinking of getting tidal. How would a wiim help me to play music? I don’t quite understand what this product is for me.
@@tessie4204I think there are many using it in same scenario. I’m guessing your young, teens thru 20’s. I know my 27-year-old grandson lives a completely digital lifestyle. He laughs at my old-school stereo rig. I’ve never used a streamer and I’m thinking of adding one to my system simply for the convenience.
Hey Joe An unrelated question to the WiiM amp video regarding Dirac Live, which I know you are a supporter of. In this WiiM vlog you mentioned time alignment of subwoofers to the main stereo speakers and the benefits of having that feature. Does Dirac Live Ltd range 500 hz or Dirac Live full range 20--20,000 hz solve this time alignment issue ? Does it automatically adjust the subwoofer timing ? I am currently considering purchasing the Nad M10 V2. Keep the informative videos coming 👍 Cheers GH Thailand 🙏
I’m a fan of Wiim .😊 I run the OG Wiim Pro feeding optically my new Denafrips Ares 12-1 DAC ..and I pronounce it to be pretty awesome 😎 Great video and enjoy the week.
@@c.s.herman860 pffb implementation (no load dependency) and room correction seem to be the big differences from what i gather. Upgraded dac, internals and components too i think.
Class D - especially inexpensive class D amps like Wiim cannot hide their higher distortion compared to a class A/B, G, or H amp. High sensitivity 8 ohm impedance speakers - specifically horn loaded speakers like Klipsch always illustrate the hiss at 3 feet away with the volume set to zero ( many other reviewers showed this pitfall ) . There's a reason Class D amps were developed in the 1950s but never became an audiophile standard. I love your channel Joe / but Class D is not for me. In a sub, sure.
So I have a lower mid range setup with B&W 683 s1’s, a HTM62, and a klipsch R-12SW paired to an Onkyo TX-NR609. Right now I’m streaming off a fire stick 4k max and using the optical output on my tv to send the sound to my receiver. I’ve been thinking about getting a WiiM pro plus as a dedicated streamer. Could I still run my sub with that setup and do you think this would improve the sound quality?
I like your style and attitude towards gear. It’s the music! 🎶 Found you thru Daily HiFi now subbed to Joe N Tell. Have you reviewed any Cambridge Audio streamers like the MXN10?
Hi Joe, nice video again. If you already own a Marantz sr8015 and a shield with chromecast. Will this be an upgrade for use with tidal, Apple music and RU-vid music?
The updates do not put the WiiMs ahead of any pack. How many WiiM Amp owners are really going to use the parametric equaliser? And its amp itself has inconsistent frequency response. It's a small room or desktop system, nothing more. I like WiiM products but let's not get carried away.
I was hoping they would add room correction, but that may be a hardware limitation of the older devices - I hear it will be using your phone's mic to calibrate.
Hey Joe, Quick question that will influence my purchase decision. Can i play music all together to my Klipsch speakers connected with cables and at the same time Airplay on the Sonos Five?
I'm not sure if you are able to group speakers via Airplay, but if the Wiim is independent of your Sonos Five, it should. If you are using the feature on Wiim that allows you to use an Airplay speaker as a external output, you will have to choose between the speakers connected directly to the amp and the Airplay speakers.
Awesome man! So, in my family room I use an apple tv going to an nice old NAD amp and subwoofer amp. In this case should I go with Wiim amp and replace one amp or streamer?
Hey man, I know this isn't related to the video at all, but I saw your comment on a video about your near-death experience and how you saw the star of light. I couldn't help but realize in an instant that's exactly how death is and how it will happen. My grandpa described the same exact thing almost to the T a couple of years ago. So yeah, very touching.
Any chance you could explain what PFFB is in layman’s terms and what the audible benefit is? I know the announced Wiim Amp Pro and Wiim Ultra(?) that were announced claim it as a main feature. Not sure if it’s worth waiting for?
These class D amps are influenced by the speakers impedance, unlike regular class AB amps. So class D amps tend to have rising highs or sound different with different speakers, based on how much the particular speaker's impedance fluctuates. PFFB is meant to compensate for this, and react less to fluctuating speaker impedance.
The same way she gets you into stuff she's interested in. It may never happen. At least she can appreciate the benefits of hearing good music played out of a good system. The WiiM makes it easy to stream music, so that takes out one of the biggest barriers to use.
