I'm not a fan of Apple products or the Airplay thing. So, I went with the WiiM Ultra and this thing is a gem. I feel so sorry about Apple sheep out there who can't and don't want to buy WiiM Ultra. You can't win all the time.

@@gogo-fk1lu Wiim is amazing value for money 👍. Can you improve oh yeah. What you want is what you get kinda with diminishing returns. A win Ultra with a couple of Fosi V3 on easy going speakers will make most happy before you start looking for the sweet spot. I recommend that..

Alright, my curiosity got me and I did a proper volume matched A/B comparison of the Eversolo's analog outs and my Geshelli. (Comparing these DAC's.) The Eversolo doesn't sound bad at all. But it does sound better paired with my Geshelli DAC. Smooth top end, separation, punch. Oh yeah... Using the DMP-A6 as a transport and letting my Geshelli J2S DAC handle the conversion is the path, for sure. Great pair. The Eversolo DMP-A6 is doing a great job as a dedicated streamer transport for my set up. No complaints.

@@deeinfinite One of the first things he wrote is he connects to his DAC with a USB out. Topics about what connection output types sound best are around, but on Eversolo to Gheshelli it's easily USB. Besides that the Eversolo outperforms the Wiim as a unit in more areas than that. I have A6-ME LPS and an A8. I sold the plain A6 because it never had the sound profile I wanted even when I used it as a streamer only. I also have a pro and a Ultra and each one has been tried and a/b so many times with both audiophile and other friends. Wiim is good as a budget gear item and will make plenty of people happy. It is however a budget item and it does not deliver the same quality. This has started to be another Fosi overhype amongst some now. Be happy with what you got, but stay in your lane and never ask people why they didn't get something else..

This is another fosi V3 over the top bullsh. and If people like Randy don't stop sooner or later people are going to hunt.. The low end is amazing and everyone's happy about that. Ask them why they have better gear in their home rig........ Request seriousness or just go full out I'm an entertainment channel. I enjoy the show without the lies..

Really ? You drop this money on functionality and you choose the Wiim. Okey you peeked my attention. You wrote it's the software. I'm really interested as the owner of a pro and ultra vs A6(sold) ME LPS and a A8 used with EQ and room correction with external gear. Explain what you found better with the software, please give some information on how you experienced the sound. My part is the Wiim sounds so great for the money. Cabin ++

@@wegardfjeld3789 And that is the point, for $329 the WiiM Ultra is incredibly solid. The software takes it over the top according to my ears. The EQ and PEQ, along with the room correction, allows the Ultra to really breathe. Also, the Ultra has a totally different streamer board than the Pro and Pro+, and this is where the Ultra takes command in the WiiM family. The software in the other streamers, I can only comment on a few. Volumio has come a long way, it is now actually useable. The Android stuff, it has always given me fits, and that is the reason my buddy sold his EverSolo and sticks with WiiM, he should have his Ultra soon. He was the reason I never dove into EverSolo, the issues he had with the software. We run much of the same gear, I will buy stuff, as he will, and we compare notes. Should I purchase too? Or should the item be sent back for a refund? We do this quite a bit and it has so far worked to our benefit. When the Ultra became Roon certified, it was easy to hook up to my Roon Nucleus One, and Katy bar the door! Think or say what you want about Roon, but it does take the sound quality to another level, and it is no different with the $329 WiiM Ultra. Roon and WiiM work flawlessly together, much better than my other streamers. I chuckle when folks laugh at these WiiM streamers, especially the Ultra. Do some tweaking with power supplies, add a Roon Nucleus One to the system and these inexpensive streamers really do bring a challenge to outfits selling streamers for $5000+. WiiM just offers so much for so little money. Next they need to introduce a netwrok bridge, no DACs, no screens, just a stand alone streamer with a solid clock and galvanic isolation. Let me pick my power supply.

I've found the same about the 3,k+ budget for a good quality streamer (that sounds as good as a cd player). What I find interesting is the difference in SQ when using these as a transport to a Light Harmonic DAC. I tried a Bluesound Node compared to my small audio PC (Win10) and sent the Node back. I compared using local/network files of my reference tracks. I can't imagine the Wiim is much better than the Node, but I will try it. The only reason for me to change is easier access to streaming. Right now I play music from my hard drive but I'd like to use Amazon HD, Quboz, Tidal, etc. But sound quality is the most important thing to me. I don't want to go backwards in SQ from my hard drive to listen to streaming. I'll probably just end up using a cheap streamer as a 2nd source to my DAC. But I really wanted to have 1 streamer transport, with 1 interface to make it all easier to use. Right now I'm thinking just wait...

@@mcmillanvideos Eversolo A6 ME LPS or A8 will do all you request. Connect your hd to it or move your music there. A8 is my preferred choice when used as a pre amp. The A6-ME LPS does function well for that too. The mentioned Eversolo's does everything better than the Wiim ultra by a good margin. As they should too.. Wiim is an amazing budget product. Tested the wiim room correction vs Buchardt I150. The latter was my preferred choice

@@wegardfjeld3789 Thanks! Moving music is no big deal, I have it all on a small portable hard drive. $860-1300 seems very reasonable if it's got the resolution. Right now I only need a transport... but I'm always open to options if a multi-function product sounds better and simplifies things. That hasn't happened in decades for me.. but I'm still open to the possibility! :) I'm in transition on my system (sold my house and system) and am building something for a new house/smaller room... So I can only focus on source gear at the moment... not sure what size/type of room I'll have yet.

Absolutely! I mainly bought WiiM Ultra as my dedicated music streaming transport to my DAC and it works flawlessly. Spotify, Amazon HD, and Tidal sound much better than a USB connection from a PC. FYI, if you want a decent dedicated music streamer you are looking at over $2K or higher. (like Aurender, Hi Fi Rose, Musical Fidelity, etc..)

@@didioentoro7575 a streamer with PEQ or Room correction is pretty rare. Especially in the digital domain which the Ultra can do. You can use the Ultra's DSP functions while using one of its digital outputs to an external dac. The new Blue Sound Node coming out next month will have a Dirac option. I don't know if you can use Dirac on the New Node & use it's digital output. I've used Dirac with a couple different devices. Dirac is much much better than the room correction in the Ultra. I have an Ultra at the moment so I'm familiar with it's DSP. MiniDsp makes streamers/DSP. MiniDsp has 2 devices I believe that has a streamer & Dirac as well as the Minidsp crossover/dsp app. Those are great devices. I used a Minidsp DDRC-22D that had Dirac that was great. I had a streamer that plugged into the minidsp, where I added Dirac, that went out to an external dac..then to my system. I upgraded the power supply on the Minidsp as well. The WiiM has decent room correction. It works & can definitely help. It's not Dirac. It also has 2 channel PEQ. You could use a Umik & REW to take measurements & then type in the corrections for each individual speaker into the WiiM. If the rest of your system is in the price ranges of the Ultra & you need all its features you should buy it. Get a better dac down the road if you feel you need it. I can think of a couple other Streamers in the budget ish range that I think sound better. I can think of a few that didn't sound better or were equal to the Ultra. They certainly don't have the feature set of the Ultra. I strongly feel that using a Streaming "transport" with a stand alone dac gives the best results. I can think of a couple budget type streamers that sound really good when put into a decent stereo system. The Ifi Zen Stream & the Primare Prisma NP5 I or the II. They both just happen to be Transports only. Zen Stream has sometimes awful software. I'd usually tell people to avoid it unless they don't mind glitchy stuff. I think the Prisma is a diamond in the rough. Great real hifi sound.. especially with a proper PS upgrade and a really good stand alone dac. It's like bare bones though..without even a USB output. And for some reason it's Chromecast connection sounds very good as well. I haven't thought about that with other streamers. If you can deal with it's limitations it's great for the money. I find that when streamers don't have all that other junk & electrical features they just sound better. Darker background. Detail. If you wanted to be super critical about the Ultra you would say the inner details of the music is soft & lower volume compared to better costlier streamers. Bass is not detailed & tight. But that is being critical & comparing it to more expensive products. And everything is a compromise. If you need all the features & especially the DSP..HDMI, preamp abilities, sub out, whatever...then maybe any faults you may think the Ultra has aren't a big deal. I'll probably keep it just because for $330 it's a good little unit. But I don't even have it hooked up because I'm streaming with something that sounds better.

No it does not Atmos, but it does MCh 5.1 for SACD, FLAC, etc.

Yeah, the HDMI is for any multichannel files you have. Not for atmos.

@@wegardfjeld3789 As mentioned in the original post, the WiiM digital out could be run into the Modius DAC and the Modius DAC has balanced outputs and high quality sound, at a price much lower than the Eversolo. A solution like this was mentioned in the video but with another brand of DAC. I have a Schitt Modius and it is very good, thus my comment.

This is my exact setup. WiiM Ultra to Modius via coax, then XLR/balanced to my integrated. Extremely happy with the sound and was noticeably better than just using the DAC in the WiiM.

As an owner of both there is nothing complicated about the Eversolo. Not sure why people act like it’s something complicated.

If your value for low tier money what speakers are you looking at. Wiim+ Z3 or V3 mono will be very sterile. EQ can only help that much. Natural will be hard unless you get the warmer sounder speaker. No matter what you need a sub

The fact that the Eversolo can rip amd store a whole cd collection is on its own what beats the WiiM I went from WiiM Pro which was running into a Chord dac to this into the chord dac. The Sound difference is like Standard TV compared to 4k tv one is blurry compared to the other.

He even said the Eversolo won some categories but the screen say the Wiim Ultra wins. You can tell how much he is biased

It does.

​There are differences, usb is asynchronous, optic is not. But optic has galvanic isolation, usb has not. So, there is no clear winner in case of connection, in many cases optic is better. Usb is better but only with low quality dacs.

Well known what? To this date I never lost a wireless connection to my A6(sold), Me LPS or A8... Mainly used with cable cuz it's always better, but please explain. Update or bamboo wifi. For the record my wiim runs well too. Prefer connected, but running all above with my 5g on trips and never ever had a issue.

​@@wegardfjeld3789I think he's referring to the issue that they don't 'sleep' on the network. I sent the a8 back for this reason and it does come up in the forums. It's a real shame as I really liked the sound and build of the eversolo kit.

i’ve had my eversolo dmp-a6 with no wifi losing connection, it’s your wifi. try an ethernet cable.

@@bristolwoodburners81 What I do know is that pretty much everything on the forums have been addressed with updates. Since I've had the A6-ME since it was released I have never had one issue. Poor wifi is a known issue though..

Eversolo A6 ME with LPS or the A8. I sold the A6. Anyone telling you it doesn't matter as a pure streamere they just haven't tried both

Not that the Eversolo was ever in my budget but that was definitely a consideration for me. When I saw the Wiim Ultra available in silver finish I ordered one straight away. Now all I need from it is headless PlexAmp support (and bit-perfect DSD playback) and we'll be golden.

It doesn’t but if you use roon and have an Apple TV. There’s an app where you can display the on album art of the song playing on roon to your tv.

I have a very basic newbie question. Can I add an external SSD via the USB port? If so, would I be using the manufacturers software to organize and play my music?

@@EskWIRED I've not got one yet myself. One of USB A ports is marked OTG, which means you should be able to connect a USB drive. I don't know what they support though in types of drives, formats etc. It also has an NVME slot on the bottom to add that type of drive for local storage.

@@EskWIRED I'd go with an NVME drive internally. Their page says it can be up to 4Tb, and it'll be tidier than a drive hanging off the back.

Built one box out of wood, put everything in except your speakers. Put some holes in for power in, speaker out and network. Nail it shut and call it an all in one digital integrated, you will be hip again 😂 just don't forget to put AI on the box for optimal impressiveness 😎

Amen. Thanks to the PEQ I've managed to make Klipsch sound semi good at music. Also it gives you endless possibilities to experiment with the sound at 0 cost. You don't even need to buy audiophile fuses!

@@Karto86 I changed from two Aiyima 07 Max to two Fosi Audio V3 mono and didn't really detect any improvements. I changed from the WiiM Pro Plus to the WiiM Ultra and only detected what I think is a minor improvement. I changed from the Kef LS50, with the Kef KC62 sub, to the Kef R7s, with the Kef KC62 sub, and noticed a decent improvement. The room correction wipes the floor with all three of the above combined. What I mean by that is that I could have kept my previous set up and just done room correction and it would beat all three of my new components combined. Reviewers clearly don't want to tell you this as it makes them no money!

Anyways let your speakers breathe. For anyone falling for the bait that fozi V3 ++. They are clean, cheap and at any decent sound level you feel like you're in the dentist chair.. I prefer the latter.. Small nearfield world they are good

@@wegardfjeld3789 I'm interested to know what a "proper amp" is? Is it a class A/B amp? Or is it something with more power? Because I don't really see how either will produce subjectively better audio quality. Particularly given that I listen at about 65db and only feed 85hz and above to the speakers as the subs two built in amps handle the rest. Nonetheless, I'm open minded and will buy something much more expensive (I think more expensive is an audiophiles definition of "proper" for some curious reason) just to compare. I think the benchmark will likely be the new class A/B Topping B200 mono blocks so will wait for them to come down in price slightly. But unless I hear a significant difference (one that is obvious even after swapping all the cables back and forth) then I'll stick with the Fosis.

@@c0mbat15 A proper amp as in something with a good circuit design and good current delivery. There are plenty of very good options out there. Class A, A/B, tube or D. A low end Yamaha, Rotel or Cambridge Audio integrated with 40W will show you abit about where the fosi's come short even if they say they deliver 6 times lower power. The Fosi"s are good for what they are. A great low end product.

I do have a A6 either Transport or Standalone, but I am also using Raspberry Pi4/5, ​PI2AES 2.0 (COAX, SPDIF, I2S, XLR that can be all used), 10" LCD monitor running Volumio connected any Streamer/DAC. For Randy's review, 🤭Eversolo firmware is running Android and if you search, you can Side Load Android Apps which open EverSolo to what Wiim will never do.

Then you should at least give the coaxial output on your Bluesound Node also a try. Imo better sound than USB.

I tried the Ultra with a couple external Dac's. I found USB to be slightly superior to its coaxial. Your dac's USB connection/implementation will matter though.

See? Once again your ears are your ears alone. I also use the Bluesound Node. I love the built-in DAC. Even when listening through 250Ohm headphones. So proof once again that everyone can be correct. It's all based on personal preference.

@bluev2srt after finding conflicting answers on forums, I found this on official Wiim ultra product page. ‘The audio is output either through analog or digital channels, but not simultaneously. EQ, room correction, and subwoofer settings can be applied to either the analog or digital output.’ Output to an external DAC would be digital, so Yes. Cheers!

Bluesound do not have peq = no competition. Ifi even worse.

The USB output on the Ultra is quite good, it really surprised me in the overall improvement in sound quality.

Glitches with the hardware or the app?

@@michaelcampbell9459 The software, constantly waiting on updates that do not always work . Having to constantly put tickets in to wiim because again it's playing up, you would not buy a car and wait for the wheels, and engine to turn up. In the end I sent it back, wiim have rushed out this product, it should be fit for purpose from the get go . But don't take my word for it, dig a little for the real reviews (not a dig at Randy) they simply cannot vouch for reliability. I have the pro brilliant streamer never had an issue and it's back on my headphones stack.

False statement. Reality is exactly opposite. Wiim is much more stable, especially regarding connect services. There are no any glitches, except only one - currently there is global problem with android audio cast. There are no any other besides this one.

I have an Ultra. When using Quboz sometimes a track will stop in the middle of a song. Few seconds later it skips to the next song. It does it all the time after it's been playing after say 30 or 45mins.

@@NosEL34 i do not use quboz (due to lack of connect service), but there are no any similar problems in case of tidal, spotify or Chromecast (yt music).

@@mitchunger7795 Own all above and the A8. All i want to say is get a LPS for your ME. It is worth it. Love my Wiim's for what they are pro to ultra, but this is another Randy isn't a music guy as much as I try to sell sh.. channel
