Nichelle wouldn't have minded the comment. One time on TOS, a gaffer was complaining that she wasn't lit properly from the front, using the common gaffer terminology, which is 'black'. So he starts yelling 'She's black!' several times before the horrifying realization hit him what he was saying. In that deadly silence she simply added '...but cute!'
I think my favorite part is where the author of Tomorrow's Yesterdays just saw the term "Globular cluster" somewhere and said "Sure, I'll have them exploring one!" and clearly never ever looked up what a globular cluster actually is...
the most hilarious thing is that Harlan Elison ABSOLUTELY DID get into intense fights with people over really dumb things like this and bred the exact kind of contempt displayed here.
I don't know if I would classify his fights as really dumb. As far as I know, all of the fights he was Notorious for centered around him or friends of his getting proper credit for work they did or stories they wrote. To some extent I think he played up the gimmick in later years, no different than how Shatner plays up his Persona or Christopher Walken plays up his. That's not to say I think that every one of his fights had merit, and I personally don't think he deserves credit for Terminator, but I kind of have to have a respect for a guy who was never afraid to throw down with regards to something he believed in, no matter how detrimental it might be to his career or how bad it made him look in the public sphere
This was great. When I was a kid I borrowed out and read a bunch of these books from the local library, they had a full shelf. The one I remember the most was about the crew getting stuck in a parallel universe that was toxic to them everything about it including the alien race they're sweat etc. And they had to convince the aliens that they were worth keeping. As absurd as these sound, to anyone reading this comment and having listened to this video, he has it nailed pretty good. Some of the stories were that level of absurd
Now we need someone to actually write these books. EDIT: Oh no, I think they removed these pages from Memory Beta. Is it anywhere on one of your websites?
