Just thought it tied together really nicely :,)

he’s playing a characters that’s basically an incel and stalker, these songs are comedy but he does have another album called your city gave me asthma which is less comedic

Fun fact: these are his more ‘joke’ songs, Wilbur actually has an album called ‘your city gave me asthma’ in which he has actual songs ( aka more serious songs ) The lyrics to these songs have a pretty deep meaning compared to the ones where he’s just simping over egirls :)

Your new boyfriend actually came up on my recommendations, I loved it and watched all of wiburs videos and eventually the dsmp. While i don't watch the mc videos anymore, I'm obsessed with his band lovejoy. He helped me rediscover my love for music and songwriting, and wilbur is just amazing

Well, since you asked about the inspiration... From the obvious, there's definitely Crywank. The indie aesthetic is there, the general vibes are pretty similar, and Wilbur has made covers of their songs before, so we know he knows and enjoys them. *I like their album Tomorrow Is Nearly Yesterday, but listener discretion is strongly advised. If you're not in a good place mentally, do not listen to them. It hits hard* Of course, Los Campesinos is something he's definitely very fond of (not that he's wearing their merch like constantly or anything). I haven't heard a lot of their stuff, but I am listening to their "In Medias Res" right now, and it totally sounds like a part of the same playlist as Crywank and Will himself. Also, a dude whose reaction to Lovejoy I once watched said Will sounded a bit like the band Say Anything. Don't know about that, but thought I'd include it here anyway. Like, if you try to find similarities, you probably can, haha. Although now that I'm listening to them, I think they are closer to Set It Off. I wonder if those latter ones took inspo from them, actually. And if you like Wilbur, you can also give a listen to The Mountain Goats. Not exactly the same, but they're also sad, and guitar-y, and a whole darn mood. Probably less depressing than Crywank, but also a bit heavy in places, ngl. The way I took the story was: They met online when they were 17 in the early 2000's. He fell in love and got attached, but she thought of it just as an internet chat, and moved on. He was depressed for a long time, and eventually she became the first type of e-girl. He began obsessing over her online, and it started to ruin his life. Then when the third song comes along, he's older and depressed because the love of his life is living the dream life they had together, but with someone else, and he can only view it from the outside, through Twitch.

i definitely agree “your new boyfriend” is the best one, i just like the music and lyrics more. also, if you want more of wilbur’s stuff to react to you could listen to “your city gave me asthma” (an album he made) but keep in mind he doesn’t really like that album and feel like he’s improved a lot more since the songs in the album were written quite a while ago. or just listen to some of his covers or older comedic songs!!

"cause you're beauty, and you're grace", is a very... common line, usually referenced ONCE in every one of these songs.
