Enjoy this? I bought their album "A Passing Glimpse" and it`s absolutely beautiful. Buy their music. You`ve nothing to lose and lots of wonderful music to gain! Tony
Just found your music. Very nice. Tell us about the banjo style. I don't see any metal picks but you're not playing clawhammer either? Right? Nylon strings?
I saw your vid from fretboard journal. I think you two are great! I enjoyed this video as well. I am a rock guitarist, but someday, if I ever get a banjo, it will be a Romero!!
hey didn't I wite wild Bill Jones? are was it old Seth meth meth? old chubby coot? I know I was written and doing research way back, but can't really remember when? anyway lets have fun with it and best musician win, Lets make a hit out of it and share the winning, make sure we get insurance and a pay-ee for a monthly fee, let's make sure we got a hit. I know that my other song is a really good one Old Seth meth tongue tier but a great Doctor Domino song but let make that a hit too? What is this world coming to? I know I've heard of couple of you sing it and it's mot a hit? so let the pro do it Me. I'll make it a hit.
How fun is this. I know this song from an old National Geographic album called Music of the Ozarks I bought decades ago, it's quite different from what's here, and very earthy, but this version is memorable in its own right, an actual piece of music. Nicely done.
I have a friend that lives up the hill from 150 mile. Next time I'm up that way I would love to get up to Horse Fly and look at your banjos. We have gone up to Horse Fly a couple of times. I can see why you choose there. Real small town old time feeling about the place.
Oh my God... was it really 11 years ago I left a comment here... just as perfect as it was when I heard it first. Pharis and Jason I hope you and your family are all well. Bless you and take care
Beautifully played and sung. That banjo tuning works just great (open C down to B?). Thanks! I can't make out many of the lyrics, and they don't seem to match the bluegrass ones here & there online. Anybody know where to find what Jason and Pharis are singing? Also, are those nylgut strings on Jason's banjo?
I'm loosely quoting from the website here: -12" Figured Maple Rim and Figured Maple Neck -Honduran Rosewood tone ring -Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard/details (they don't stock it this wood. it was given to them by a customer) -goatskin head
Absolutely wonderful playing....if you make it to Michigan...I would like to see you at The Ark in Ann Arbor...couldn't think of a better venue to listen in...
Wonderful playing, enjoyed it very much. Your banjo's are beautiful. I really like the style of playing the banjo. Can you tell me what that's called. I'd love to learn it. Thanks Dave
Jamie, near as I can figure it out from your first string to your fifth (the little one on the side of the neck) the tuning would be: Eb, B, F# (or Gb), Eb (low fourth string), F#. The full "C" tuning from first to fifth string is: E, C, G, C (low fourth string), G. Since Pharis is capoed on her guitar at the fourth fret and playing in the "G" chord position, she must be in the key of B, if she's tuned standard. Give it a try. Good Luck.
Upon further investigation I see the banjer was tuned to a "full B" chord rather than just a "double B". A very nice change from the usual G or A tuning that most people play the tune in.
So the subject of the b tuning seems to be a contentious topic. What is the string by string breakdown on that banjo in that song. any help would great please and thank you.
This is really beautiful. Have been a fan of your banjos and music for a few years now, and am even more of an admirer after seeing these recent videos (especially great to see the vimeo/fretboard video)
Saw this vid. Then saw your other vid. Then bought one of your albums. Then feel in love with the both of you. One day I'll own one of those romeros. Thanks guys
How have I not heard of you wonderful folks before tonight, when I tracked this down after listening to Prarie Home Companion?! You're my new faves. Love it all!
Romero is more pleasing to the ear than the best current banjo folk artist out there... i love me some avett and some tillers but damn Romero is incredible!
