Wild bison have returned to the UK for the first time in thousands of years. Three bison were released into the Kent countryside, in the hope that their natural behaviour will transform a dense commercial pine forest into a vibrant natural woodland.

Thriving woodlands also absorb more carbon, helping to tackle the climate crisis. Global heating was evident as the bison were released, with England in the grip of a heatwave, and the early timing was to allow the bison to reach the shade of the woods before temperatures started to climb

Just so everyone knows, the Steppe bison did indeed live in Prehistoric Britain, alongside the wild ancestors of domestic animals. The modern European bison is being used to refill their ancestor's niche, alongside herds of primitive breeds of horse, cattle, & boar.

Bison are doing wonders restoring ecosystems on mainland Europe, so it's hoped that they'll do the same in Britain, as well as refill the niche of its prehistoric Steppe bison ancestor, alongside herds of primitive breeds of horses, cattle, & boars.

Instead of introducing some random animal to do what machinery could do, introducing animals that are endangered such as wolves, lynxes or foxes would be a much better idea.

Wolves, lynxes, & foxes don't eat grass & shrubs, bison also work for free & don't disturb the wilderness. There's also not enough big game for wolves to eat, it's part of the reasons why the bisons are being reintroduced.

Tough dense meat with slightly less flavour than an average steak. Incredibly high in protein though. Steak is better. If you want a great steak though, try reindeer. I no longer eat red meat but the reindeer is memorable 😂
